Thankfully, Roland refined this concept with the Go Keys 3 and especially the Go Keys 5. Real buttons and a real pitch bend wheel! The 5 is nearly a professional instrument. The membrane "buttons" scream cost-cutting. You will not appreciate them if you are performing live.

@@sweetwater What i meant was that the rows which are being used as Pitch Bend and "Other parameter" in the video, can those be used to control the Modwheel and Pitch Bend wheel of let's say the Kontakt Player. In essence, when connected as a midi device do they send CC messages or not? Then not only I can use this product as a standalone keyboard (which is very good, i might add) but also as a proper midi keyboard as well.

So I would like your advise since you tried both - I need a travel keyboard between Go-Go-keys or Yamaha NP 12 - your input will be much appreciated Thank you
Hello, iemore40! This definitely can work. The important consideration here is that the GO:KEYS only has an 1/8” stereo output. You will need to break that signal out to two mono ¼” connections in order for it to work with a guitar pedal. This is the cable for the job: www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/IPMB2Q2--pro-co-ipmb2q-2-2-foot That cable will allow you to use guitar pedals with stereo inputs. If you have a guitar pedal with only a mono input, you can either choose to only use one side of the stereo signal from the GO:KEYS or sum the two signals together to a single mono output via a box like this: www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/SummingAmp--jhs-summing-amp Thanks for the interest! Hi, Simon. The Go:Keys does not have a 5-pin MIDI input or output, but can be sent MIDI input over USB. Hey, D A. Thanks for reaching out about the Roland Go Keys! The only way to use the MIDI with the GO KEYS is via USB or Bluetooth, so controlling your Yamaha Reface CP will not be possible. The Reface has its own MIDI capability though, and has a dedicated 5 Pin MIDI connection that is In/Out (shared). Hello! The term "semi weighted" is fairly nebulous, but I'd describe the GOKeys as semi weighted, yes. does anyone know how to get sustain working? ive been googling for ages, and ive found nothing! settings dont seem to have it but i can see the unlit option on the screen
Hello! If you have a keyboard sustain pedal, there shouldn't be a trick to making the sustain function work inside of the GO Keys - all you'll need to do is plug it into the "pedal" jack on the back of the keyboard. If yours isn't working, perhaps you are using the wrong type of pedal - you'll need a non latching switch to function as a sustain on most keyboards. Hello, great question! The keys are not weighted like an acoustic piano on the GO:KEYs (this is the case with most 61 key keyboards). You can play a solo part on top of the loops, though.
Thanks!

Thankfully, Roland refined this concept with the Go Keys 3 and especially the Go Keys 5. Real buttons and a real pitch bend wheel! The 5 is nearly a professional instrument.
The membrane "buttons" scream cost-cutting. You will not appreciate them if you are performing live.
is there a small version...like a mini/micro type version
Is there a transpose function on this keyboard?
Hi, Grant! Thanks for your interest. Yes, you can transpose the GO:KEYS up to 5 semitones down or 6 semitones up. Hope this helps, and feel free to contact me directly with any further questions!

Can the bottom and top row be programmed to send midi information to control the pitch bend and mod wheel of a synth when connected to a computer?

@@sweetwater What i meant was that the rows which are being used as Pitch Bend and "Other parameter" in the video, can those be used to control the Modwheel and Pitch Bend wheel of let's say the Kontakt Player. In essence, when connected as a midi device do they send CC messages or not? Then not only I can use this product as a standalone keyboard (which is very good, i might add) but also as a proper midi keyboard as well.
@@prat2609 Hi again Pratim, we have confirmed with Roland that the only MIDI messages that can be sent by that GO:KEYS are from playing the keyboard itself. All of the other buttons do not send MIDI messages.

Can program change commands be sent to Go keys ? I have Stage Trax3 to send program changes to keyboard
I have a couple guitar reverb ambient pedals, can they be connected to this keyboard to create even more ambient sounds ?
Hello, iemore40! This definitely can work. The important consideration here is that the GO:KEYS only has an 1/8” stereo output. You will need to break that signal out to two mono ¼” connections in order for it to work with a guitar pedal. This is the cable for the job: www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/IPMB2Q2--pro-co-ipmb2q-2-2-foot
That cable will allow you to use guitar pedals with stereo inputs. If you have a guitar pedal with only a mono input, you can either choose to only use one side of the stereo signal from the GO:KEYS or sum the two signals together to a single mono output via a box like this:
www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/SummingAmp--jhs-summing-amp

Hi, Does it have MIDI to plug an external keyboard in please?
Hi, Simon. The Go:Keys does not have a 5-pin MIDI input or output, but can be sent MIDI input over USB. So if you had both an external keyboard and the Go:Keys connected to a computer you could use another keyboard to control it, or vice versa.
Thanks!

Can I use this as a midi controller for my Yamaha Reface CP?
You will want to get a keyboard that also has a 5 Pin MIDI connection as well, and that can easily be found through our site. But if you have any more questions, let me know. Thanks and have a great day!

Yes.
Are the keys semi weighted?
Hello! The term "semi weighted" is fairly nebulous, but I'd describe the GOKeys as semi weighted, yes. These do not have the weight of a traditional hammer action 88 piano key, they are light to the touch, like some "synth action" keyboards.

does anyone know how to get sustain working? ive been googling for ages, and ive found nothing! settings dont seem to have it but i can see the unlit option on the screen
Hello! If you have a keyboard sustain pedal, there shouldn't be a trick to making the sustain function work inside of the GO Keys - all you'll need to do is plug it into the "pedal" jack on the back of the keyboard. If yours isn't working, perhaps you are using the wrong type of pedal - you'll need a non latching switch to function as a sustain on most keyboards.

does it have midi in and out
Hi, David! Thanks for your interest. The GO:KEYS doesn’t have MIDI DIN connectivity, so you wouldn’t be able to connect it directly to another hardware synthesizer. Can you record a 12 bar blues backing track and then loop it?
Hi there. That is a great question! With the Go:Keys, you would be able to record and overdub a 12 bar blues segment, but it won't be able to be looped.
