    I don't think I have ever heard the words... "I am a big fan of these D605s." I ain't hatin', just never heard them words, I still have mine from when I bought my KLX new in '21, and no one will take them off my hands. Great video, the new plastics really fixed the Fugly this bike has had for a few years, and the LeD coming stock is a welcome addition.

      @tieoneon1614  Год назад +3

      I didnt like the new headlight at first, but now after being around it I like it better. And if u dont mind a mild rant, here it goes LOL. I put these tires on all my dual sports. The 605's biggest downfall is the owners are usually new to offroad, dont have their sag set correctly so the front pushes, and never adjust their psi offroad. Just adjusting the psi to 14 front / 12 rear makes a huge difference cuz most people are skating on 1/2" of rubber @ 22psi. They are horrible in mud though. I literally ride my dual sports 2-3x more cuz of these tires, now Im putting on 150 mile days exploring anywhere instead of not wanting to hit a ton of pavement with a buzzy boring ride from knobbies. 25hp doesnt need rear rimlocks, they never need balancing if u put valve at yellow dot. BUT...had I not had the last 6 years riding desert, mnt and woods on crf450x, yz250fx, and kdx I never would have learned all the little tricks of adjusting sag to the front for steering or matching psi to terrain.

    • @trashpandatrailadv
      @trashpandatrailadv Год назад +3

      @@tieoneon1614 I appreciate a good tire rant! I actually don't mind the D605 as a tire, the longevity seems there, and its road manners are great for what I would call a 70 off and 30 on road tire. I think the reason it and I never agreed was that I do a lot of my riding in the mud, wet logs, and wet rocks of NH and I found that the side of the tire just didn't have the bite to pull you out of some of the ruts or terrain I found myself in. As for other riders, and their experience I can't speak on too much, but I know most people quickly go to a Tusk or Perilli. I went Kenda a few runs a go and I haven't or will not turn back, on the road they are ... questionable at best, but off road they meet the needs I need with me and my crew. Your experience really speaks through to, cause I don't think at 25hp I have the need for a rim lock unless I am dropping psi a lot and with how much we jump on and off pavement here in New England, dicking around with your psi is just too much work. So we run about 18 psi so we don't pinch flat baby heads and call it there. If I am ever in your neighborhood I will drop of that pair of 605s, still got 80% tread.

    I'm sure you know how capable the KLX300 is. Matt, the guy ahead of me on the Husky TE300 in my last video, rode one for a few years and it hung right in with all the Euro Queens in the hard stuff. But one of first times out with it, something submerged in the mud clipped that loop guard on the frame, bent it up and cracked open the water pump like an egg...Get a good skid plate on this guy 😉
    I always hated the the headlight on the KLX300, to my eye, this new style is major improvement 👍

    • @tieoneon1614
      @tieoneon1614  Год назад +2

      Yeah i like the smaller headlight after being around it more, just dont like that it doesnt cover the display fully anymore. Im not going to run a skidplate. This is my 3rd version of this bike, and Iv never had anything close to make me think me personally would need one. However i do have a new plastic one from my KDX that might fit, so someday i might retro fit it. I HATE metal skidplates, spent the damn money on the 2" foam for the DRZ plate cuz it was noisey.

    • @painsrides
      @painsrides Год назад +4

      @@tieoneon1614 New England is so rocky a skid plate is mandatory.. as Matt found out. So you know the KLX was only a few weeks old, he took to the dealer for them to repair. They took one look at it, said it was a rider fault and not covered under the warranty. The kick in the nuts is, the dealer said there was "frame damage" from the bent loop and the only way they would repair it was a full frame replacement. The estimate was $4900! Luckily for Matt, I hooked him up with local guy that was able to repair the case and fix the frame for $700..

    Looks like the Headlight and the rear light is very similar to the KLR 650. Idk.. Starting to wonder if I should have got the KLX 300 vs the KLR 650. Though with a slip pipe and airbox mod on the KLR I have a lot more power. Ohh and I second what you are saying about the Big Dealerships, its horrible dealing with them. My wife went to buy the KLR for me as kind of a "surprise" although we had talked about it a lot... But yeah... she knew exactly what she wanted, and got dinked around for 3 hours, and then still... I got home and the paperwork I got had a different VIN on it, so then I had to go back and get the right paperwork, and not to mention, inside the book was a completely blank "pre-sale checklist" haha. Which... I went through everything anyway, but still... Back to my point, I love the KLR 650 for on the Highway but that heavy bike is very hard to ride in anything soft. Just too much weight up front. I do like the 650 adventure with the OEM LED lights and hard Paniers though, and then I find out that in my state the law says "You must have at least 1 but no more than 2 headlights" Not that its a good idea to run the "fog lights" on the road, but on the backroads where there are dear and whatnot I like to run em.

      It feels like a 30 hp engine, after its broken it, 1 tooth down on front sprocket and air snorkel removed where the DRZ feels like a 40hp engine.. The difference is how refined these are : brakes, clutch, throttle, and zero vibrations. AND the biggest difference is offroad. This chassis was originally the 250/300R, an actual trail bike. Very nimble and light feeling on single track and woods riding. The handling is night and day difference offroad as the DRZ feels like a heavy street bike. I drove a klx300 for an hour the other day. It was way nicer than the klx 230. But……it was still slow. Couldn’t get it over 63.

      @@americandude3825 they are really, really putzy when new before engine is broken in. And they are geared too high oem, and snorkel chokes it off. 2 of those are free, the sprocket is $19. They are not powerful but quick after that, 0-60 around 7 seconds with me at 215lbs.
