  • Teachers’ unions in the United States are one of the most powerful political forces in the country. Union-backed candidates win 7 out of every 10 school board seats and those candidates tend to prioritize union members and their interests vs. student achievement. To ensure that students come first, it is essential to counterbalance union influence through increased candidate and union transparency, as well as alternative endorsements from parent groups and political figures.

There is not such thing as a permanent academic setback. Kids would actually know more about the world if they were taught less and expected to do more.

Who represents students when government runs schools and pays union salaries regardless of performance?

in fact it's not only the teacher's unions that they seek to remove but unions from the entire working system so it would then be possible to shape it more like the African one

How about a video for parenting... It's a verb not a noun. At what point do you psa parents to not get their kids addicted, yes addicted, to electronic devices from infancy? At what point do you educate parents on the 0 to 3 yrs brain development that sets up a child's success? At what point do you psa children's profiles created from k thru 12th grade in the US, which ultimately may have larger complications/intentions? To blame school boards and educators for the ills of our society, especially coming after pay, which is horrible for similarly educated professions, maybe change the MO from blame to Education.

Teachers are one of the least paid public positions compared to thier education requirements for the job. Let's not lessen thier collective barging rights on an already underfunded group and increase their pay. Better pay attracts better teachers. If local governments make this a priority then grades will improve. And let's not forget that the ultimate responsibility of learning and academic success lies in the individual student. If you really want to change the metric create bonuses for teachers tied to student performances on standardized tests. In no world is fighting teachers unions a setup for better academic achievement of sudents.
