I was thinking he was having grip issues with his tires and lack of throttle control that magnified that issue. But hey he kept it from hitting the wall so that I guess could stand as good driving. Obviously on the track with a bunch of spoiled rich guys with their show cars that got no business being on a racetrack in the first place while someone is running really hot laps.
I must’ve watched this video 100+ times over the years, and my heart is in my mouth each time despite knowing the outcome. Absolutely mind blowing car control. Bravo, Mr. Kenny Bräck!
aaaaand that is how you beat the Italians... Simply stunning no question. Low gear is horrific but he knew exactly what he was doing. Cheers for putting that on
Amazing driving, old racecars are a joy to behold, seeing them driven on the limit reminds one of dancing. Furthermore, being quite doubtful of CART myself, I highly enjoy one of IRL's (the "no talent nobodys" series, as CART supporters tend to think) display his outstanding talent.
Has to be the most heavenly motor sport venue for car and bike lovers in the UK cars worth millions ragged on the limit of control by some drivers who made them famous
I would LOVE to see some of the modern F1 drivers attempt real driving such as this. I wont go into what I think of the "Modern" drivers of today, or the great attitude they have but this was racing, when it wasn't about traction control or the countless other hand holding electronics in modern racing cars. Your traction control was how well you handled a wheel and the go fast peddle.
Even in rallying you can get away without heel and toeing these days with the fancy Sadev gearboxes etc. You just left foot brake and paddle shift but concentrate on your throttle and line. There is a famous video of Rauno Altonnen from the late 70s or early 80s showing how you set a car up for a skando flick while heel and toeing. It required real coordination. Modern rally cars turn in so well there is no need to skando flick. Interestingly, when you watch young Finns in the modern cars eg R5 they are always flat, without exception, before they even get to WRC level. When they get into a WRC car they hold just gobsmacking pace through the jumps and corners. It has to be seen close up to be believed. The technology allows a 19 or 20 year old to get to where it took many more years of experience in the past.
Have you ever seen driving this good?
Just brilliant
Never in my life !!

Yes, me in my S-10 with worn out tires.
Former Indy 500 champ and now McLaren testdriver Kenny makes it look easy.

Twitchy, hairy, and wild. That Ford GT40 is constantly trying to kill you at its limit.

Kenny drove for Rahal in CART. I don't recall him ever starting an IRL race.
@@WarrenRCG Kenny definitely raced in IRL. He won the IRL championship in '98 and the Indy 500 in '99 for A.J. Foyt.
On the limit and occasionally for a few split seconds beyond it. Fantastic control to bring it back and tame the beast.
Wow it's like watching someone dance
At 100mph+ in the rain with glass slippers on.
Yeah, an elephant doing ballet.
It made my arms tired just watching him counter steer . Drivers are true Athletes
This, kids, is called driving by the seat of your pants!!!
Damn he good!!!
Without a doubt one of the most legendary drives I've ever seen - Kenny is such an ANIMAL!
Absolutely brilliant.... breathtaking driving. The rear wants to step out at every second lol.
Awesome footage and great sounds...that dude can freak'n drive!
A son to his dad:" Hey, what's driving ? ". Dad: " I show you a clip... "
Wow, What incredible driving! Ford GT40 is one of my favourites
Magician
Kenny at its best!
That boys working it hard. Nice job.
Incredible power. That thing is a beast!

That was mad driving. The pit crew will need to swap out the worn steering column bearings after that race !!
For most other drivers, they’d also need to shampoo the seat cover…..
Looked like everyone else was on a Sunday drive.. drive it like you stole it ..

This gt40 passing other gt40s in the rain efortlessly with the wieght disadvantage of his gigantic balls will be a mystery for ever
what's amazing is that every car on the circuit is a million dollar car (or more) and he didn't hit any of them. Mad skills.
Often it's easier to be constantly on the limit than just occasionally be surprised. I am pretty sure Kenny was more in control than it looks like.
Poetry in motion
I imagine this is what an onboard of Ken Miles would look like.👍
Massive balls!
Awesome!
Mantap... 😇😇😇
Champion !
HOLY OIL SLICK BATMAN... my arms are tired.
Is he any relation to Bill Brack of Toronto
sick
Road Safety film: How to get into and then out of 250 huge accidents in under four and a half minutes.
starts a bit sloppy but then just finds the balance!
All I can say us "Holy Crap" haven't seen driving like this in, well don't know.
Clutch flare or wheel spin, wheel spin I think.
"Play Racing-Car" under the rain... 👍💯💪🏎️🏁🤓🇨🇵
Every driver::: what the hell man!!!? It’s just a parade lap!!!
This reminds me of the famous wet Ayton senna lap
Real cars for real men, not boys relying on ABS and traction control.
No straight lines available on a wet day in this beasie!
Oh my gush ! Not enough torque. What a pitty of a car.
Did we just watch a rally car race (on ice).
Gains more time coasting a corner than blasting through... Whats the point?
I suppose when you can steer like that, throttle control isn't so important
왓 더 뻑 이네 진짜.
Please stop speeding up the videos
It DOES look like it's manipulated doesn't it...
it is really annoying
Lol
😂
Point and shoot
I would be more impressed if it were not (at least it seems) an auto gearbox
It is a manual gearbox. The GT40s had their gearlever in the right side of the driver, so at that camera angle, it is completely out of view.
Holy excrement!
Should be restricted to a Nissan Micra.
First!!!
Second!!
Terribly unstable car 👎👎
Awesome!
