      See why the gov't keeps growing bigger and bigger, greed, corruption at the heads of all agencies etc etc. Trying to take away freedoms and liberties, they think we're all like you guy's who'll juat bend over and take it, pay the fees for anything they say and whatever you do don't forget to upon request show your papers please. May your chains rest lightly upon you guy's.

      Why do you need a license to operate this radio just curious

    • @cucvfarmer
      @cucvfarmer 8 месяцев назад

      @idecidenotyou because the FCC says you do to transmit. You can listen with no licence. The only way to get good at operating your Radios is by transmitting.

    I've got one. It's great for the money. I also have the wouxan and it's really good but 6 times more money. 😂. Great little radios and where I live in Southern Indiana I was able to get almost 6 miles as the crow flies no problem with woods and buildings in between here and there in a semi suburban area. ❤

    Yep. I have one with the 771 antenna and it's been really good. I used chirp and Radioditity gm30 on chirp to program it and it works great. I haven't measured it's output, but I was able to talk to my buddy on his Tidradio at 4.3 miles down the road with lots of trees and buildings in a semi urban area.
    Regards from. South Central Indiana. Tim. ( wrzf 693)

      @@bendover4496 They come with standard channels, etc, but you can customize for repeaters. Almost all repeaters use what's called ctss or dcs tones.. It's a way to block others from being heard and to prevent others not using the same from interrupting conversations.. You can do this manually in the menu, but it's a pain and it's much easier to do with software . Especially if the software is good like Chirp which is free and open source. This one we are talking about is not chirp, but works okay and it really is made for another model of their radios, but it worked for the GM15. It's actually software for the GM30 version of the radio. The GM15 is a decent radio really for the money. Can't beat it.

    The TIDRADIO (TD-H8) looks very interesting, if you're a HAM that also wants GMRS in one radio. The fact that it can be programmed from the phone app is a big plus. It is a bit more expensive than this radio, however. It comes with two 2500 mAh batteries, two antennas, and a speaker/mic.

    This feels like a lot of radio for the price (about $28 each on the two-fer $55 deal). Im a ham operator and have a GMRS license, help operate an emergency preparedness gmrs network locally.
    The sound quality of the speaker is very good, much better than my old Baofeng UV-82HP.
    The longer antenna (probably a Nagoya 771) is good and seems to get the signal out as well as my UV-82HP.
    When it comes to repeater use (8 channels available) it seems like I can enter a CTCSS for a repeater, even with the radio in memory mode, but that's all. If a UHF repeater has been set to a 6 MHz offset, the radio can't be changed to accommodate that. There's no Chirp software that works on it. We tried the Radioddity GM-30, and the radio would connect, but the display on the PC screen was unreadable.
    You can't change the power. I guess the FRS channels (8 - 14) are set to 0.5 watt, and I guess the others are set to 5 Watt, or supposed to be.
    So it's inexpensive, and all of the above are why it is inexpensive.
