    Pete Sampras' greatest achievement aside from the 14 majors?...
    Who wouldn't want Pete Sampras for a son-in-law? Have you ever seen hidden camera photos of Pete, his wife and his 2 kids at the grocery store checkout stand? You ever see Pete on TV in a drunken stupor declaring he has "Tiger Blood" or "Winning"? Name one person who did not like Pete Sampras?
    Roger Federer is a great champion but he had "blueprint". Someone he could pattern not just his game but his entire persona & lifestyle, after. Roger Federer is Pete Sampras II. &, now, the "Joker" is becoming Pete Sampras III. That's Pete's greatest achievement, imo. The brightest, the best looking, the most athletic, the classiest...and the most humble and reluctant champion of any sport, ever!

    Sampras was way too underrated from the baseline. Even he downplays it.

      Agree. Sampras started as a baseliner in his younger days, and had very solid groundstrokes.

    Actually, this is pathetic, I'm going back on my words that I agreed upon with Shuffle. Kyuubiyura, you think Federer is better? Fine. I think Sampras is, we've given our points so fair enough. Like I said to shuffle, lets just appreciate what we've been allowed to witness over the past 20 years and beyond.

  • @rohan4872
    @rohan4872 13 лет назад +1

    @Shuffleking74 ugh, he kinda has. Firstly, Petes competition was far superior and came in different playing styles from serve and volleyers to agressive baseliners. Secondly, the courts were faster and the technology less sophisticated, yet Pete largely dominated. Heres a stat Fed will never break. Sampras ended year number 1 for six consecutive years in the toughest era and stands alone as the unprecedented title of most weeks at number 1.

  • @bjarktron

    @Shuffleking74 You say the players Federer played against were much better. But how many of them have won Slams?

    he always used babolat strings his career. Seems like he's moving towards a racket with a bit bigger of a head.
    at the exhibition with andre in nyc several weeks ago pete was using an unpainted frame

  • @rohan4872
    @rohan4872 13 лет назад +1

    oh hell no you are not getting the last word. racket improvement didnt help federer? newsflash. federer dominated on the slower courts than in sampras's era. Well say that instead of private, because for about 4-5 posts you kept calling it a defunct website. Proof of what? Fed benefiting from the slower conditions? Gee I dont know try following Feds years from 03-07, you might see a difference in courtspeeds and rackets. Not to mention the introduction of the luxilon strings and bigger frames..

  • @rohan4872
    @rohan4872 13 лет назад

    @kyuubiyura to find his form until two and a half years later at the open. How are the conditions worse for Fed? Their very similar to when he was dominating except Wimbledon slowing down a bit, which doesnt matter for Fed as he wins his slams from the baseline and its not like hes a chronic/diesel SnV'er. If you really think the competition during Feds reign compared to Pete's, then I'm forwarding you an article with a comparison of statistics that claims otherwise.

  • @rohan4872
    @rohan4872 13 лет назад

    @Shuffleking74 Nadal is definitely an exception. But do I think a courier of 93 could beat a roddick of 03, given their talent and weighing every other factor? Yes. And again, 'you cant use statistics to determine an opinion of who was better'. Thats the entire point I'm making with the whole Sampras vs Federer discussion, Fed fans love to go by statistics so why not use a few of my own? I agree though lets stop arguing and appreciate the talent both generations have given us.. we're very lucky!

  • @rohan4872
    @rohan4872 13 лет назад

    @kyuubiyura Ok. Should we agree to disagree and call it at that?

  • @rohan4872
    @rohan4872 13 лет назад

    @kyuubiyura Nalbandian Hewitt and Murray together have at least twice less Grandslam victories than your average top tenner in the 90s (muster, courier, becker, agassi). What other categories are you talking about/ You mean most grandslams by beating players like Baghdatis, a 35 year old andre, phillipoussis, soderling, murray, gonzalez? Djokovic has only come into his own since the open and he is now a threat to Federer, why couldnt he challenge him like Rafa did for the past 6 years? Continued

  • @Airplane171
    @Airplane171 13 лет назад

    Yea Sampras!!! Best fucking American player of all time!!!

  • @rohan4872
    @rohan4872 13 лет назад

    @pistolpete58 its a wide known fact luxilon strings, an improvement in racket technology gives players like Federer who use serious racket head speed and generate major RPM a massive advantage. Your knowledge on tennis rackets is pretty unimpressive. Im aware Federer won a tourney, but Nadals season in the big tournaments has been more impressive than Feds, and this is Rafas time to shine as its clay baby!

  • @rohan4872
    @rohan4872 13 лет назад +1

    @kyuubiyura rude fans? its people like you and 89pleaseK that give people a bad impression about other players and taking away Petes success by actually having the audacity to argue the competition during Feds era was equally as good as Petes. Only a year in between? 04-07, feds best years and 09 thanks to an absent Nadal allowed Federer to dominate players who were either chokers or passing by (Agassi, Phillipoussis), while the true contenders were still maturing their games (Rafa,Djoko,Delpo)

  • @Shuffleking74
    @Shuffleking74 13 лет назад

    @pistolpete58 Look. What people put the real money on is how many majors someone has won. It doesn't matter anything else. Federer has 16, Pete has 14. I think that says enough.

  • @gopas83
    @gopas83 13 лет назад

    playing with babolat?

  • @rohan4872
    @rohan4872 13 лет назад

    @kyuubiyura Because competition folded before even facing Fed. Players (both Navratilova, Mcenroe and Stich repented) give up the match even before facing Fed because they think he is impossible to beat. No 90s competitor, especially given the conditions of courts speed and general attitude would do that. Federer is best on medium fast hard courts. Youre telling me Fed would reach 16 slams in 7 years in the 90s? Please. If anything the slowing down of the courts helped Fed achieve everything.

    @kyuubiyura my point there (which again youve put out of context) is that you cant view the file then automatically assume its been deleted. Youre embarassing yourself by saying I cant open it when everyone Ive showed the website to can, so its you whose embarassing yourself again.

  • @rohan4872
    @rohan4872 13 лет назад

    @kyuubiyura Monotonous? I think its fair to say Rafas netplay is second to none; comparative of this generation, definitely. cheap private site? Um wow if your computer cant view it, ill gladly send it to you via message. Given Rafas progress, head to head, and measuring their latest performance, yes he is. GS wise, hes got some way to go, and if you do compare the two against each other, yes it is true. What do you mean by stronger strings? Fed's always played with advantageous hybrid strings..

  • @rohan4872
    @rohan4872 13 лет назад

    @kyuubiyura sorry within 2 minutes, is that better? Again, who are you to question me about not knowing respect for opponents when the guy you idolizes gives no credit to players like Berdych and Djokovic for their victories? Fed is still one of the main favourites to win any tournament he enters so until then, you cant make the excuse of age, if he feels he still cant compete to his best, he'd retire. Rafa isnt a defensive player ffs, you have to be dictating the court to have a 6-2 h2h vs Fed

  • @rohan4872
    @rohan4872 13 лет назад

    @Shuffleking74 German actually. Don't patronize me about not appreciating the culture of tennis on a global basis; if anything, it's your country who you should be preaching this to, especially given the fact all US players are unfortunately in the 2nd tier as Pete stated. Federer is a great champion, I'm not going to take that away from him, but his achievements lack serious fundamentals.. beating who he has, you're only as good as your competition and frankly that isnt saying much.

  • @rohan4872
    @rohan4872 13 лет назад +1

    ..is surely an advantage for federer, not sampras lol. Insulted you, I'm sorry is there something thats hurt you inside? Want me to give you a lolly so ull feel better? You telling me is not a source of proof, various tennis all time greats agree that Feds opponents do choke n feel the pressure a whole lot more than Fed. He only felt pressure against Nadal because there was one opponent who actually was/is better than him, hence him breaking down into tears that he wont ever break Petes record.

  • @rohan4872
    @rohan4872 13 лет назад

    @Shuffleking74 I disagree, by people you mean the people who watch tennis on a superficial basis and not follow year in and year out for the past 15 years. There are alot of factors attributed to how each reached their milestones and in what way. Its only fair that the ignorant Fed fans, whose knowledge is limited to 03 onwards understand the difference in competiton (which statistically proven, was far superior in Sampras's generation than in Fed) and factors including courts and technology.

  • @rohan4872
    @rohan4872 13 лет назад +1

    @kyuubiyura im not going into an issue about bagelling but merely pointing out your pathetic attempt at considering one match between two of them a 'noteworthy' aspect. Never underestimate a player like Sampras only after one match. Especially in 01 where he was playing his worst tennis. Private Article? Anyone can see it. Without proof? Really? Have you seen Federers matches against Baghdatis, a tired Agassi, Gonzalez, Murray? Theres your proof, what technical changes? Racket improvement...

  • @Shuffleking74
    @Shuffleking74 13 лет назад

    @bjarktron Nope. Federer is. The players he played against were much better. And to win 16 slams against them. Come on dude.

  • @rohan4872
    @rohan4872 13 лет назад

    @kyuubiyura last years Finals are in the past, Nadal had a far greater season than Fed and deserved all his achievements, irregardless if it was a months rest, Fed came in with a lot of match practice whereas like you point Nadal was resting. Moreover, Nadal destroyed Federer last week on the hard courts of Miami and unless Nadal and Djoko are miraciously injured during slams, guaranteed the only way Fed will win another GS is playing some no name choker. Your last sentence makes no sense.

  • @rohan4872
    @rohan4872 13 лет назад

    @kyuubiyura when did I say hes not an agressive player? Hes an agressive baseliner with a good overall game, but Rafa is clearly improving in all aspects as well; or do you deny that and still believe hes an overrated pusher? You arent Feds coach so you have no say when hes too old to be dominating as he once did, he snubbed the press for asking him the same dumb ass point youre trying to prove. To djok as well huh? 09 Miami Press conference, thats all im gonna say. Djok is not like that anymore

  • @rohan4872
    @rohan4872 13 лет назад

    in Miami against Rafa and he got burned. Rafa is a very astute player n his tennis knowledge on the court is amazing, he goes to the net n puts away the volleys or finish off a point by creating the opportunity, like ure supposed to in tennis. Im aware hes a baseliner but so is Fed, or do u think hes a SnVer? Im insulting u only at ur stupid claims which happen to be very often; also claiming the file has been deleted off the site when I just sent you the entire article doesnt help ur case LOL

  • @rohan4872
    @rohan4872 13 лет назад

    @kyuubiyura Thats some pretty shitty wikipedia arguments youve based, im surprised you havent used the word skew yet. In the last 4 hard court/grass matches theyve played, Nadal is 3-1, Nadal was a teen before he started improving to all courts and now its virtually Nadal being a massive favourite in any tournament he enters along with Djokovic. Youre telling me about sore losers? Watch Feds interview when he got his ass beat in IW in 09 or against berdych at SW19, its beyond shameful..

  • @rohan4872
    @rohan4872 13 лет назад

    @kyuubiyura The site looks cheap? What does that even mean, facts are facts. And seeing as Fed fans love to go by numbers theres a dose of your own medicine. Its a well-known fact Nadal is better than Fed, you werent complaining when Federer was dominating on the slower courts (including the WTF last year) and improvement in strings that play right into Feds strengths leaving his various 1 dimensional opponents helpless. Fed prefers approaches like any top player when the ball is played short.

  • @rohan4872
    @rohan4872 13 лет назад

    @kyuubiyura lol. the courts have changed at Wimbledon since 2001 when perrenial rye was introduced as the surface so dont give me that lame ass execuse that it's obvious proof. Nadal outplayed Fed in both the finals they played on hard and grass and Fed is supposed to be the better hardcourt player? Not lately. The US Open has been faster than its ever been, Nadals just adapted his game and started hitting 130mph serves and shortening his strokes. If the courts stayed as they did, ye he would.

  • @rohan4872
    @rohan4872 13 лет назад

    @kyuubiyura you decided to deviate paths by saying the one match they had against each was a noteworthy aspect. sure its noteworthy but so is a man with the record for the most consecutive 1st round losses giving Fed a bagel. All i keep doing is not providing proof? I sent you a very viable article, which I have posted on my channel as well. I have given proof to back up my arguments. What have you done? Show me ur proof. I dont see anything, not only r u now clueless, but officially delusonal.

  • @rohan4872
    @rohan4872 13 лет назад

    @kyuubiyura LOL nerdy, coming from the guy who doesnt play sports and replies to my comments within a minute; brilliant. Feds game is clearly fine, hes missing alot more regulation shots because finally theres a few more people who can challenge him out there, you said yourself he was 29 in November and ran through the top 10. Saying nadal is terrible at the net is ridiculous, what a silly claim to make. if you play tennis you should know you wouldnt go to the net just like that, Fed tried...

  • @Shuffleking74
    @Shuffleking74 13 лет назад

    Sampras did not dominate the way Federer has. And guess what Federer 1, Sampras 0! Federer has not lost before a quarterfinal of a major since the 2004 French Open. Are you kidding me?

  • @rohan4872
    @rohan4872 13 лет назад

    @kyuubiyura nah i dont want to, I'm going to keep this argument going, until you stop to be honest. Nadal cried because of an injury that ruined his shot of 4 in a row, or let me guess you think hes faking it again? Federer cried against Djokovic in 09 and v Davydenko as well because he lost, what a child. whats rather embarassing is that you continually write back refusing to settle and come up even dumber statements by saying heres my proof, I dont see once where youve given me proof.

  • @rohan4872
    @rohan4872 13 лет назад

    @kyuubiyura Fed isnt a baseliner? I dont take any of your references seriously; is this the same interview where Fed said his favourite shot is FLAT? LOL. And ive never heard of approaches, sure he likes the net more than Nadal, but to call him not a baseliner is fucking ridiculous seeing as hes hit himself to 16 slams playing 95% baseline tennis. rofl age and stronger rackets, shut up for the love of god. answer me this: can you or can you not see the article ive sent you VIA youtube?

    @kyuubiyura you are a joker, you want me to find those quotes of players admitting they choked and several of the all time greats mentioning the game was already finished before it already begun because of their nerves and not playing freely vs fed? There was only one opponent who took it to Fed on all surfaces and newsflash, his main rival has a 6-2 h2h against him in GS's. How can you call that domination when he doesnt even have a winning record against his main rival? Shameful if anything.
