A couple of tips to make KiCAD more intuitive is to change the selection behavior and tool activation behavior By default, to select a symbol or footprint you need to click once on them before dragging or moving or whatever This can be overridden though from the Settings > Mouse and Touchpad > Drag Gestures > Left button drag The other thing for tools is check or activate the "hotkey first selects tool" checkbox, which does exactly as it says I believe it can be found under the "Hotkeys" section in the settings

13:45 I could be mistaken, but I think you can drag a trace by hovering over it with your mouse cursor and pressing D.
