Sir please tell me why we usually takes 150mm*150mm*150mm
as standard size for testing the specimen under CTM

In general we have to take cylinder specimen but Indian Standards follow Cube of same volume like the cylinder . So 150*150*150 of cube gives same volume like cylinder. But cube gives more strength than cylinder as it develops frictional forces. In general in buildings we see long beams and columns which represents cylinders and not cubes so for that reason we consider strength of concrete as 0.67fck and then we apply FOS. We are not considering fck for this reason only.

The professor is incapable of teaching, sorry to say. I didn't benefit anything from this lecture, but only lost my time. I thought IITs are different scene man. Disappointed!

Being an IIT professor we hope you to have very good command in English language and able to explain such a important subject of civil engineering field in an efficient way.
The lecture is very average one and similar to the lecture given in any Diploma college by xyz teacher.
