As much as I love drip because of the low watering maintenance, it is also ongoing maintenance with repairs...lol! I find myself constantly replacing heads and hoses. I still think it's worth it, but definitely need to check your drip on a regular basis!
Love the new organization boxes. Wish my son would organize and label his drip irritation stuff. He does all the lines. I know very little, but he wants me to learn. When I need a new line he tells me to do it. So he tells me what I need and then I have to dig through a big container with a lot of little unmarked plastic baggies. I get confused and just quit. I think I will learn better from your videos. 😊
Thanks for the great info on how to keep the water pressure going. Why is it that we always need to make a change when are plants have gotten so big! 😂 and the weather is so much hotter 😅 I’m always like why didn’t I do this when I planted 😂

I not only loop my 1/4", but almost all of my 1/2" main hose. It causes me to use twice as much hose, but I don't have any bottlenecks, and I have very good pressure. Keep all long zones in a circle. 😊 However, I do have one short zone with a folded end. I must add, when I bridge the 1/2" tubing under a path, across a patio, or across a driveway, I only use a single line. Once I get into the bed, I will loop the tubing using a "T" connector. I don't have any folded ends on my 1/2" tubing.
That's a great idea. The less connections you have to make the less chances of a connection popping open and wasting water. For some , the number of connectors may not be a problem. BUT here in the LOW AZ DESERT the high temps every day during the summer hit 115 and above. The connections get loose and pop adding to your water bill because your system is watering when you aren't there. I don't use any tubbing with included emitters because they can't be fixed and you have to replace the broken sections and add more connections. I still use the adjustable bubblers and some 1/4 spaghetti tubes to get water to the other side of the plant.
Finally ordered 2!! On sala at Harbor Freight just could not pass up. Thanks you for all the great tips with the drip too. I think I can make some major improvements with your tips and demonstrations. Love your channel❤ happy gardening! I'm in Louisiana 9a
Soaker hoses have their benefits also. They seem to last long, are easier to install and fairly inexpensive. AND you don't need to buy all those additions to set it up. If something eats through it you can't fix it and just have to replace it.
I haven’t tried drip. This is my first year on my new property, and it is all uphill. (North Alabama, 8a, very similar to Texas.) I’ve done so much planting trying to stabilize the hillsides, but watering everything is a nightmare. Water doesn’t run uphill. 😂 I have managed to run soaker hoses downhill (I run the regular hose to the top and attach to the soaker hose there), but more than one soaker hose hooked together loses water pressure. And I can only run one hose at a time. If you drape soaker hoses over a pot, it stops releasing water. All of my pots have to be hand watered. Ugh! My learning curve this year has been something else!
Try drip irrigation but makes sure it creates a big loop … meaning to connects back to where it started … this helps maintain water pressure so much better than just one long line of hose that has a dead end.
My drip system is stored in old tackle boxes except for the tubing. I am redoing my poly tube setup because the tubing with emitters spaced evenly apart doesn't work properly any more. Some emitters spray too much water leaving big puddles and other areas get way too little water. Too many connectors just leave too many areas for them to disconnect and waste way too much water. I am going back to 1/2 in main line and 1/4 in spaghetti lines with the adjustable emitters. They can be swapped out, adjusted and the tops of those buttons can be removed to flush them out if needed. I have a one acre property with at least half of it needing irrigation. And there are two 1/2 in poly tubes with a slight difference in size. 700.00 verses 700.10, that difference means you need different connectors.
interesting I currently have the 1/2 in main lines distributed in 2 different directions around the perimeter of my garden. I have the 1/4 in spaghetti type lines but haven't actually done anything with them. I've now seen pros and cons on spray type emitters vs the evenly spaced type. Because of this I'm at a stand still as to which way to go with my mixed plantings in containers and in ground. My thinking is that setting a system up should be mainly for the containers since those seem to need to be watered daily in summer heat whereas things planted in ground can get moisture from the soil. I was set to go with adjustable stakes for the containers One video actually inserted 2 -3 stakes per container based on size and that was my thought. It sounds like you reverted back to the adjustables so which adjustable type if emitters or stakes did you use? Thanks for a reply.
For containers the 1/4 in spaghetti lines that have spaced emitters is probably a good idea because you can replace the damaged strand easily. My situation is I have large gardens. So my main line 1/2 in tubing can stretch 115 feet I have tried repairing sections at a time but the more connections I add the more chances they pop open and I waste a lot of water. But I bought Rainbird bubbler self piercing buttons that can be adjusted from 0 to 13' gallons. There are other sizes available, but these work for me. I run one line for trees and two for shrubs making them three DIFFERENT runs. I put one button in the 1/2 in in front of the bush then run a 1/4 spaghetti line to the back of the bush where I place another button on a stake and push it into the ground so only the button is above ground level. If I find I need more I can add them. Hope this helps! Happy gardening!

What's held me back is the number of containers for which I want to water. If it was just a straight line of plants/trees planted inground, I wouldn't be so intimated. Guess the answer is to just start working it and if it doesn't do what I need, then adjust.
Run a devoted line of 1/2 in tubing the length of your pots, then use T connector to 1/4 in tubing, WITHOUT EMITTERS, run it up the outside of the pot. Now add an elbow connector to the 1/4 tubing WITH THE EMITTER INCLUDED into the pot as she showed you. You need a connector that screws onto your water source and either an end cap or the doubled ringed closure where you slip one part over your 1/2 in tubing, bend the end ,slip that end into the other ring and pull up to close the other end
I live on an acre with lots of plants and in 115 and higher degree weather for our health and sanity for growing in hell, we need the drip system. You can even put programmed timers on to turn the water on and off . For us it is worth the money and it !
My husband doesn't know it yet, but setting up a drip irrigation is our next big project. :D

They take strength to punch those connections together. I am a 74 year woman and it is really hard. I hope your son realizes this and does it for you.

There are some tools that make it easier to punch them in but I still think it’s tough.

One day I'm going to have drip :D I did set up a soaker hose for the front bed and that has been a tremendous help
