Perfect timing! My husband and I are putting together an arch and maybe a couple of trellises today and tomorrow. I got mine from Temu for cheap, so I hope they hold up! Yours looks great!
Congratulations for the arch!!! Brilliant idea. In the future perhaps if you will buy two more arches and you will place them in a row a path will be created. A path with large stones on the grass that will lead to the garden.❤😊
Always enjoy your videos. I live in zone 8a in Georgia and it been blistering hot here too. Gardening is tough on the back and aging doesn't help. I moved to a patio home complex 5 years ago and the association rules only allow a max of 5 pots. I get the hot sun from noon until sunset. Petunias haven't done well this summer. 😎
Good evening. Love how the arch looks. You made my day cause it looked like you were climbing the one side of the arch to get it into the ground. Put a smile on my face. I was thinking you just had a shower now you might have to have another one. Excited about those sunflowers and how they will look. Enjoy the rest of your evening. See you tomorrow.
I'm so sorry that your back is bothering you, Amanda, and will pray that your chiropractor can get you permanent relief soon. The new arch adds another layer of fun 22:15 interest and mystery! It beckons you to come in and discover the beauty that lies ahead! Great video, as usual!
Love your arch Amanda! I just ordered one from wayfair. You got a better deal...lol! Loving those teddy bear sunflowers and can't wait to see what they look like! :)
I've ordered several arches from Amazon and so far so good on all of them. I found them really easy to put together. I think I have the exact one you ordered :D Looks great!
Love the arch! I just stuck some more sunflower seeds in last night! Pitch black by 8:45pm and I was dripping sweat. Oooh my gosh, gotta get through today and tomorrow (96⁰- and humid). We are supposed to drop to high of 77⁰ on Wednesday 😮😅 🎉 then high in the low 80's. Can't wait!!!
🫠love the drip info. That's in my future. Your instructions have been empowering. Drip is intimidating, expensive and confusing! Bermuda grass, grrr...feel ya.
I dream of Bermuda grass being banned as an invasive species. Controlling it takes an incredible amount of backbreaking work. Be good to your back and be careful of the heat. In Zone 8 upstate South Carolina, I got sick yesterday working in the garden. Even an addicted gardener like me knows to go inside when I start to throw up. AC works miracles.
❤ the new arch! I planted the vanilla ice and the squirrel got the seeds 😏 because we haven’t filled the feeder we have. So going to try again and make sure the feeder is kept full 😂
Love the new arch! I got one from Aldi last year and I love having an “entrance” into my garden. I don’t know how you are working so much in this heat and with back issues. Please be careful!
Love it. I have a lot of back issues. Went to dr., said to use proper footwear. 😢. I always wear sandles. Especially in garden. 😊I will say it has helped a ton. I now love using rain boots/ mud boots in garden. Tractor supply carries cute ones cheap. 👏🏻
Funny you should mention Bermuda grass. I have St. Augustine here in FL (9B) I spent 2 weeks digging out all of the underground runners of invading Common Bermuda in my beds. 60 feet!! It helps a lot. Some of it is still there, of course. But it is manageable. It's still a never-ending task to watch for pop-ups! I thought I was gonna die in that humid heat. I feel your pain!!!! You did a great job!!!! And I sure won't forget the pre-emergent this fall for the other weeds. lol
Lots accomplished. Love the Arch. I noticed in previous videos that I thought your Hair looked shorter. ☺️ And this video confirmed it. 😂I need to research Sunflowers. For some reason I haven’t always been attracted to them. 🤔
I bought that arch last year in hopes that someone would help me assemble it. It's still in the box so guess I'm just going to have to do it myself :-) It looks nice in your walkway. I was thinking either Clematis or roses.
I forgot to plant my sunflowers...you just reminded me so time for me to find my seeds and get them out in the garden. I am always looking for a lovely garden arbor so I will be interested to see how this one holds up for you. Do you think it would be sturdy enough for heavy snows?
Bermuda grass is the stuff of nightmares 😳 I've done weed screen and cardboard and mulch around my raised beds and the grasses just keep coming. I really don't want to, but I think I'm going to have to go with weed screen and rocks. It's going to be so much work and so expensive, and I'm worried the grasses won't care and grow anyway 😭🤣
Great video Amanda! I’m on y 4th ( yes fourth) and final package of Sunflower Steve’s sunflowers . The chipmunks keep eating them so if anyone has suggestions. I’ve started them indoor under grow light with heat mat, it’s so frustrating. I don’t think I’ll be buying anymore it’s too discouraging. Love your channel it’s a bright spot for me!!!
That is so discouraging! Have you thought about covering them with gauze when you put them outside, so that the squirrels don’t have access when they are so tiny?
I hope your back lets up! Hard enough to work in the heat! I agree about the Botanical Interest packets. I end up putting them in a baggie once they're open, because I've torn the top and can't reclose.
Im in a very similar zone as you and actually pretty close by in Texas and I’m curious how late into the year you continue direct sowing sun loving stuff? Sunflowers, zinnias etc. I want to keep putting stuff out but want to make sure it all has a fighting chance. Beautiful addition to your garden by the way. 🤩🤍
Bermuda grass is invasive. It’s used for its heat and cold tolerance and low water needs. It’s no fun to walk on, with its rough texture and to eradicate … Hope your back feels better soon. A strong core makes a big difference. All the lifting and bending isn’t placed on the spine.
🌺lovely arch! Can’t wait to see what’s growing on it!🌻
Thank you! 😊
Pretty arch. It looks so fancy. Adds glam to the space.😊
Thank you! 😊
The new arch adds so much to your beautiful garden. I love it!
Thank you!
You are a gardening warrior doing projects in August! Thanks for the reminder to get sunflowers planted soon. I need to get on it.
Any time!
Arches always look good and are so useful for flowers and vegetables.
Yes they are!
Cardboard worked for me. I still have to touch up and make sure I mulch but it gives me a fighting chance. I love it!
Hope mine works like yours!
Love the new arch, it looks beautiful.
Thank you!
Love the arch!
Thanks!
Love the arbor
Thanks!

Congratulations for the arch!!! Brilliant idea. In the future perhaps if you will buy two more arches and you will place them in a row a path will be created. A path with large stones on the grass that will lead to the garden.❤😊
That's a great idea!
Nice arch. Your hair looks pretty. Grew teddy bear sunflowers last year and liked them.😊❤
Oh thank you!
The arch is great, it looks lovely. I loved the dogs sitting on the couch watching you putting it all together. ❤
Thank you! 😊
Pretty arch! I'm glad I'm not the only one that struggles with the packets from Botanical Interest.
😂 nah, they give me trouble every time!
Lowes carries Living Earth compost. I've had really good luck with it.
I’ll check it out! Lowes is more of a drive for me!

Petunias don’t do well for me during the summer either.
Nice arch 😊
Thanks 😁

I hope so too!
Love the arch. Just had hip replacement, so I'm watching the weeds grow. Lol😊 I enjoy your videos. Thanks for information you give.
Hope you recover quickly!
Hope your back gets better
Thank you!
Nice arch . Clematis would look good on it. ⚾️
Good idea!
I would definitely add some metal stakes to your arch for extra support. Plants het heavy!
That's the plan!
Love your arch Amanda! I just ordered one from wayfair. You got a better deal...lol! Loving those teddy bear sunflowers and can't wait to see what they look like! :)
I saw some beautiful ones on Wayfair that I wanted!
I've ordered several arches from Amazon and so far so good on all of them. I found them really easy to put together. I think I have the exact one you ordered :D Looks great!
Awesome!
Pretty arch and sunflowers 🌻
Thanks!
Awesome, nice job❤❤👍👍
Thank you 🤗
Looks great!
Thanks!
Love that "Teddy Bear" I want to plant skyscraper sunflowers just for fun next year.
I want to plant those too!
Amanda, 🤩 very pretty arch, good find. How about a pretty climbing rose and clematis combo after the cantaloupe?
Would love that!!!

lol
Hope you recover quickly! The heat is so dangerous!
❤ the new arch! I planted the vanilla ice and the squirrel got the seeds 😏 because we haven’t filled the feeder we have. So going to try again and make sure the feeder is kept full 😂
Oh wow!
Love the new arch! I got one from Aldi last year and I love having an “entrance” into my garden. I don’t know how you are working so much in this heat and with back issues. Please be careful!
I will! I took a break on filming yesterday and the video I’m working on today is very low key.
Love it. I have a lot of back issues. Went to dr., said to use proper footwear. 😢. I always wear sandles. Especially in garden. 😊I will say it has helped a ton. I now love using rain boots/ mud boots in garden. Tractor supply carries cute ones cheap. 👏🏻

Yes I’ve cut it shorter!
I bought that arch last year in hopes that someone would help me assemble it. It's still in the box so guess I'm just going to have to do it myself :-) It looks nice in your walkway. I was thinking either Clematis or roses.
You can do it!

I think you would need to add additional stakes in the ground to stand up to heavy snow.

It’s the worst!
We usually just drive rebar into the ground and zip tie to secure.
I think I’m going to need to do that too!

Will 1 daily watering be enough to germinate seeds in August in Texas? Won't they dry out later in the day with heat and wind?
I have the drip and it runs once a day and the sunflower seeds in this video have already germinated.
Where did you order your 1/4 inch drip tubing from?
I buy mine from Home Depot but you can order it on Amazon as well.
