    This is an unboxing and test review of Mr.Hobby PS-270 Procon Boy FWA Platinum, .2mm high precision airbrush.
    PS-270 Procon Boy Platinum features tail stopper, air regulating valve, 10ml color cup, connect from Mr.Hobby Mr. Air air supply can and a hose. The wrench for removing the nozzle is also included in the set.
    The airbrush comes at a price lower than Iwata HP-C Plus but it actually a higher-end dual action airbrush.
    PS-270 has a smooth trigger and is working flawlessly both with acrylic and lacquer paints. The video shows testing it with Mission Models paints, diluted in a ratio suggested by the manufacturer, airbrushed with 14-15PSI pressure.
    Mr.Hobby airbrushes are not as popular as Iwata, Sparmax and Harder & Steenbeck but their quality is very high. PS-270 Platinum is comparable with H&S Infinity and it is definitely better than HP line from Iwata.
    The airbrush features tilted foot with connection for the hose featured, which is with smaller than 1/8 fitting. However removing that and you have the standard 1/8 there. In addition to that, the tilt provides very good grip and the option for attaching a moisture trap directly beneath it, which will improve the grip.
    Ergonomics -wise, PS-270 Platinum is very good and its weight of little above 120 grams makes it preferable tool for many.
    This is an airbrush that I would recommend to be used mostly for high-precision work, since it is better suited for that, even though it can be used for general coverage and even Primers. However, I would do it for fine details, mottling, free-hand camouflages, etc.

    So glad to find this review. There video reviews of so many other Procon boy models on youtube but not this specific one. This airbrush moved near the top of my list when I found a US seller but to find out that it is better than the comparable Iwata which I can't find for nearly the same price and comparable in quality to the much more expensive Harder and Steenbecks, I will definitely be getting this when I buy a second airbrush.

    Excellent tool Mitko. This is another one made by B.B. Rich which is the same company that OEM's Iwata and Tamiya. A quality product for sure.

    Procon Boy PS270, PS289, PS770. Just fantastic airbrushes. I prefer them to my H&S Infintiy and my Iwata HP-B Plus. And they were cheaper. Most under rated airbrushes on the market.

    No quibbles with your favorable review - I like the brush a lot. However, if you look at the instructions, they advise you not to remove the needle and to clean it by back flow. You can buy a special kit for taking off the tip, but it's very delicate. It's hard to believe Creos is right here, but I've been following their recommendation and the brush appears to be in perfect working order. I think the seals are very good - when you remove the needle, there's almost no sign of paint behind the tip - so maybe Creos is right. Harder Steenbeck brushes are usually coated with paint on their needles - but they are easy to clean - they just don't work as well as the Japanese competition in my view. And I've bought three of them.

    Thank you for this video. I currently use a Harder&Steenbeck Evolution airbrush but I'm having problems with it; it is very, very finicky in how it works, splatters easily if the pain thickness and/or air pressure is just off. I am looking at this PS270 and hoping it might be a better airbrush than the Evolution. Would you mind giving me some advice? (I already replaced the spring, nozzle and needle of the Evo: to no avail).

    • @parnashwind
      @parnashwind 3 года назад +2

      This airbrush is definitely much friendlier and forgiving when compared to the H&S (Evo, Infinity). The one major downside of this airbrush is its small nozzle, dropped it once and it had me crawling looking for it for who knows how long >.

      Not going to put this down at all! Plus if you need finer detail you can pop the Creos PS-770 head and .18 needle (PS-770) on it! Also the Badger Sotar and Iwata HP-CH Hi-Line or if you have large hands the Paasche Talon, Bit more expensive But the Harder & Steenbeck Infinity CR or Evolution will also do the job!

  • @EMTBonsai

    wipes the floor with the H+s initially cr that's for sure! alot cheaper to! I wish I tried this one first before my H+s that just sits in the rack now never used! the ps 268 is good to 0.2
    the cup inside is like ammos airviper I bought to try it's actually very good! nothing sticks to the cup inside either so easy cleaned think that copper looking coating has something to do with making it really nice to use

    Dear Mitko
    Your airbrush reviews and videos are just wonderful !!!! It also would be great to make a video about how is the proper way to clean after airbrushing the PS-270 or the PS-770 , because GSI Creos suggests never to dissmandle the nozzle or to remove the needle !!!!! Just to spray cleaner and to backflash !!!!!! I beleive you can propose an alternative to that as expert you are.
    Best regards

    • @DNModels
      @DNModels  6 лет назад

      I am by no means an expert, but to be honest I do prefer not do remove the nozzle too. It's too risky. And id you flush with couple of cups of cleaner you should be fine.
      But yeah. In general a video about proper cleaning will be in order.

    Greetings Mitko! Thank you very much for the detailed review.Could you please help me with the following situation? I'm looking for a good airbrush currently and opted for H&S Infinity. I have funds to buy it of course, but still I find its price a bit too high, so I decided to find a possible alternative. Some people also say that you have to be extremely careful with it, as its nozzle and needle (especially 0,15 mm) are quite fragile and may be easily damaged. So I can't make a definite opinion. After I found out about this particular model, I consider it as an option too. Moreover, I use Mr.Color (mostly) and Hobby color paints mainly. There are several things however I'd like to clarify: what kind of seals does it have and how does it perform when dealing with agressive solvents? I work with 72 and 48 scales and have experience with rather cheap copies of Iwata and Fengda airbrushes, so the design is quite familiar to me. All fellow modellers feel free to give your comments and recomendations as well. Any info and experience would be valuable. Thanks in advance.

    • @DNModels
      @DNModels  5 лет назад +1

      I wouldn't worry about the seals. This as well as 770 are very good airbrushes.
      I don't like h&s in general due to flimsy triggers.
      Its either this, sparmax or iwata for me

    • @Flanker0804

    Bought in 2015 directly in Japan during a trip and it's a killer for the price (i bought it 52€) and stand the comparison with the iwata HI line CH. And the replacement parts are very cheap (but available only in japan i'm afraid...)!

    Mitko Nikitov and all other modeling colleagues who read this, I wanted to buy this PS270 or PS770 for precision work but what size of nozzle you recommend for general purpose like gloss and flat coats, primers etc, for that less precise work, 0.3 or 0.5 for example?
