I bought my Aerolatte French Press more than a year ago for 28 EUR, which is about 32 USD. It is very durable (I use it every day) and makes a great cup of coffee every single, thanks to the scale on the glass which tells you how many spoons of coffee to how much water. Plus, you can just put the glass in the dishwasher after you use it. Money well spent!!
despite the consensus that the aeropress isn't a french press, and the clock needing a new battery, this is the 'definitive guide' as evidenced by the fact that it includes the best tip ever for making hot coffee - preheat the carafe with hot water. spot on. then reuse the hot water to heat up your coffee cup. and finally, while you can't put the double insulated presses on a warmer, you definitely can place the carafe on a warmer. or wrap your press in a kitchen towel. i have a tea pot cover to keep my tea hot. works on french press also and don't throw away the coffee grinds. it makes great compost or add it to your garden soil
Just got my 1st French Press :) Mira brand fully stainless steel, 12 oz ($22 on Amazon). The smallest one made anywhere? I adore it & it works perfectly with my 12 oz HydroFlask coffee thermos. I learned from you that stainless French presses exist, so I took the trouble to find one & made my coffee dreams come true! I heat the press pot & plunger with boiled tap water from the manual kettle, then while that's sitting in the press I boil my good water to make the coffee. I decant through some cotton mesh tea bags cuz I need to filter out some of the cafestol & other acids for health reasons. Planning to take it all camping too! It will be perfect... with a nifty little Firebox brand biomass rocket cook stove. Many thanks for all your great info!
My favourie is still the Bodum Chambord. I have three different sizes I have never had any grounds get past the filter. I always have a spare new filter or two so I can replace the filter in use as it gets sediment trapped in the mesh. However the filter will lqast a very long time
You probably dont give a damn but does any of you know a tool to get back into an Instagram account? I somehow lost my login password. I appreciate any assistance you can give me.
@Raiden Heath Thanks for your reply. I found the site on google and im trying it out now. Seems to take a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
Had French pressed coffee at a restaurant for the first time, absolutely fell in love with the flavor. 😍Loved this video, very informative. I think I will be going with the ceramic or stainless steel model, I like the length of time with the heat retention. Do you have any recommendations on type of coffee? Like I said totally a new by on this.
I hate the claim of "stainless steel" that some manufacturers make. I have personally returned 3 "stainless steel" percolators because they rust after a week. These may be stainless on the outside, but the inside can rust out. I'm just torn between glass and something more durable.
One huge upside to the AeroPress is the time. It takes much less time to make a cup of coffee than it does with a french press. It's my go to for coffee while camping. That all glass french press is absolutely AMAZING though. Definitely the most beautifully designed french press I've seen.
I have a question. Ceramic and metal French presses have the "advantage" of keeping the coffee hot for much longer but... Isn't the brew supposed to be ruined if you pass the 4-5 minute mark? I understood you must take the coffee out of the press after the brewing time, otherwise you'll get a much bitter and less tasty coffee.
Ikea offers an all glass (beside the lid) french press around 18€. It's called EGENTLIG. It's even isolated. But sadly it broke on me after like 3 years.
@@FrenchpresscoffeeloveI have that one in a cream color. Love it because it keeps coffee warm. Mine is 32oz. Unfortunately I've worn out the screening filter and can't find replacement parts. Time to buy something new I guess.
Can I put the stainless steel press on a stove and brew it on it in order to keep a constant heat while brewing? Is it reccomanded to do so to get better extraction and tastier coffee?
Check out Stanley adventure all in one boil + brew French press. Made for camping but many say they use it at home every day & they never get grounds in their coffee. You can put directly onto a heat source. I'm prob gonna get one for my mom for Christmas, I love all their products. They have a super nice stay hot french press but many reviews say grounds get in your coffee.
weird about breakage.. i have had a bodum for YEARS and YEARS and it never broke.. wonder what he is doing other than maybe they are making them cheaper these days... probably so... what went on mine finally was the threaded screw down part holding the screen on.. so i used 2 metal nuts that fit the threads and locked it down with the second nut and it NEVER went anywhere after that... :)
I like my coffee like I like my women. Cold, dark, and bitter. Question: For someone starting out with French presses, but not a beginner by any means in drinking coffee, is the added cost of a stainless steel press worth it?
I have the Kuissential all stainless steel press, but as I discovered, French presses always seem to have some sludge at the bottom. For that reason, I went to a Hario V60 pour-over. Around the same price, but much cleaner brew, and I will take the Kuissential on the road when traveling. Cheers!
I used to use a perc to brew and loved the taste but hated the time it took. Switched to a French press and have been really loving the taste but keep getting a black sludge at the bottom of my cup. Any way to get rid of that?
I have a French Press with 2 mesh filters... I just press down the plunge very slowly... the crust itself also help filter the fines to reduce the sludge to the very minimum. Always had a clean cup that way with a few fines but no sludge.
Ok, so I've recently purchased the Breville Smart Grinder Pro to help get the best french press coffee I can try to brew. I set the dial all the way to press and followed the RUclipsr James Hoffmann's recipe to-the-letter. Nope. Still am not brewing that perfect cup. I've opened up the Breville and adjusted the burr with the additional manual settings for a more coarse grind. Going to keep the same recipe and report back
Update: a little better with the increased coarseness. Now to pop over to McNulty’s for better beans and maybe decrease the brew time a bit. Suggestions welcome :)
Few tips. 1st you can decrease a brew time. Also in addition to shorter brew time you can use ether paper filter (if you have a lot of coffee sediment) or you can simple try Espro. Hope this helps.
For a youtube channel that is literally named "frenchpresscoffee," it's surprising you don't have a video about brewing coffee on a french press. I've seen you "ground coffee," "add water," and "wait."
FrenchPressCoffee.com I have one of those stone ware presses. It has Lasted over a year in a busy small kitchen. But the filter has worn out with daily use.
Dude didn’t even talk about clean-up. That’s the biggest hassle with French presses and some French presses have some features that make a big difference on this.
and most dangerous. glass becomes very slippery with soapy water always dry your carafe in the drying rack, not with a towel. the less you handle the carafe the better use the coffee grounds in the garden or compost pile
There's a very faint song in the background. It's making me uneasy, it sounds like my android alarm. Gives me anxiety watching the video. Please change it. I love the actual btw. Thanks for the guide, will try to save up for the espro.
Eww plastic An idea. Place your French press glass jar in the pot to simultaneously heat water and Pre-heat the glass basin. Are there any French press that you could use the glass jar itself to heat the water?
Please have Kathleen - I believe that’s her name. The coffee quote girl. - host more videos. The one she hosted early on, when you started this channel, was much better than anything your regular host does.
Man, I'm so glad you survived black hawk down!
why am I playing Leave No Man Behind by Hans Zimmer when I find this comment?
"It's all in the grind, Sizemore. Can't be too fine, can't be too coarse. This, my friend, is a science."

Awesome guide. I think I lost count but French Press was said 65 times in this video!

This is the first video I found that categorizes Aeropress as a French press.
He sells it that’s why
Thank you for this overview. Brilliant idea to have a space dedicated to this excellent brewing method.

@Brian Reginald No problem :)

Great. Thanks for sharing!
Yeah & that all-glass one looks totally Danish to me! If it was, then of course it would also be a kettle! 😉
wow...worth it just to watch the end of the video!
Great video!! I purchased that stainless steel press before watching this video...I'm glad I did! It seems I made the right choice 👍👍
I have 2 french press hade mine all mouth year did not brok mine yet work greet and I have moka pot love it

Thanks! And what about Timemore?
Can I use the 3 cup press to make me 1 cup of press with 1 cup coffee and water amount. Will there be any taste difference?
Hi! Just wondering, where did you get the green ceramic french press? :) I badly want one
It made by Forlife. Unfortunately they discontinued all ceramic presses.
@@FrenchpresscoffeeloveI have that one in a cream color. Love it because it keeps coffee warm. Mine is 32oz.

Nope, they are an insulated double wall construction so heating it wouldn’t be an option.

I just broke my glass French press 😥. Which was 15 dollars so now I wanna get a stainless one
Jerome Nichols i broke two before getting a stainless steel one... handling glass appliance first thing in the morning is recipe for disaster 😅😅

usually bcoz of accidentally thrown or kick it while you still dreaming in the morning

I am fond of stone ware ceramic but when I replace my Le Creuset, I am going for stainless steel.
I prefer the glass .. I can pull out the glass, microwave the water hot, pop it back into its frame .. and I'm set. Stupid fast & easy.

I couldn't find one. Please, send it for me. 😊
I just wanted to know which is the best.
Is Secura French Press any good?
I bought one. As this dude states, it's unbreakable and looks really good too. I love it. (ps... not made in China).
Thank you.
How to buy that one?
Just go to www.frenchpresscoffee.com
I ♥️ FRENCH PRESS
Coffee amateurs , since they like their favorite brewerage, will often take the glass french press. Because they can SEE it !!!
i had the Le Creuset. then a cup from cupboard fell on it and broke it.
I'm sorry to hear it. Le Creuset I think makes a Stoneware French Press which unfortunately can crack.
FrenchPressCoffee.com I have one of those stone ware presses. It has Lasted over a year in a busy small kitchen. But the filter has worn out with daily use.

cheekster777 LMAO. Observant
Hands down, 6:30 is the best time of day (sorry)
What it boils down to is; If you ain't got a proper kettle, you ain't got good coffee!
Yes but sleek and designer equate to a superior cup of coffee (glass press

hacks?? hence the broken glasses perhaps???
ey aero press is no frenchpress...
French Press kicks the Aeropress ass every time
I have never in 60 years heard these called French Presses.
Sleek.
J
The aeropress isn't a fucking french press
