  • The new firmware update adds a ton of useful features to this fantastic little groovebox. I plan on making a video diving into how to get the most out of these new features, but here is a little jam I made with them for now. Thanks for watching!

This update made play fun again. Not that it wasn't. Massive fan of the chords and bass additions as well as the random plus. Spent yesterday just playing.
Excited to test this with other gear on the midi side.
    Nicely done!

Yes for sure! It made the Play feel like new again! I haven't used the piano roll yet, but I am excited about that as well.

What is your impression on comparing sound: PP vs MPC? both in sample playback fidelity aswell as the onboard FX? thx!... Cool vibes btw ;)

Thanks! And for samples, the play can't do stereo sampling, and the mpc has far more options for manipulating samples, as it is a sampler and the play doesn't technically market itself as one. As far as fx, the mpc has way more options, but quantity does not mean quality in this case. The bread and butter effects on the play (reverb, delay, saturation/drive, eq) all sound fantastic, while the mpc is pretty dull with those fx imo.
Also, the mpc has so many glitches that make it really frustrating to use a lot of the time, whereas I have never had a single glitch on the play, and I bought mine when it released.

Thank you for the very informative and helpfull reply, hoope you can put an end this fidelity quest of mine, by the last remaining thought: is there any noticable dif in terms of raw sound, say if you play the same kit on both in a A vs B manner, is the Play more lofi? Or in other words: Does the MPC have more low end, clearer highs and puncier mids? Akai has always been known for a puncy drum-sound, thank you so much for taking the time. Best regards @@keeganwills

@@OnReaAl I've never tried a direct head to head actually. I'm curious now though, so give me a couple of hours and I'll try some different sounds back to back and I will let you know
