    TULLIBARDINE 225 SAUTERNES FINISH
    THE DISTILLERY
    Founded in 1949 after the conversion of the original brewery into a distillery was finished. Situated in the Southern Highland of Scotland and owned by Tullibardine Distillery Co part of Terroir Distillers.
    Tullibardine is Gaelic for ‘Lookout Hill’
    THIS WHISKY
    NAS Single Malt from the Tullibardine distillery, matured in first fill ex-Bourbon barrels and then finished for an extra 12 months in 225 litres Sauternes dessert wine barriques from Bordeaux in France.
    ABV 43%
    COLOUR
    Deep gold
    NOSE
    Fresh, floral, orange blossom, fruity, melon, vanilla, honey, chocolate, caramelized brown sugar, coconut, cinnamon, citrus marmalade, cereal
    TASTE
    Creamy vanilla, sweet white raisins, spiced pineapple, white chocolate, sweet dried fruit, cereal, pastries, oak spice, pepper, bitter citrus marmalade
    FINISH
    Medium long, creamy, sweet, spicy, lime
    WITH WATER:
    Nose: lime candyfloss & grape candy
    Taste: vanilla and spiced white raisins
    SUMMARY: sweet white raisins lightly dusted with crushed pepper
    COMMENT: well balanced wine cask finished whisky

    Nice review! I really liked the pastry notes :) It's a great whisky, if you like the sweeter ones. FYI, it's the same strength in Europe - 43%

    I have tried the Tully 228 and found that I prefer it to the Sovereign... I didn't get the 225, but I have one that was matured in old vine Zinfandel casks... It should be interesting!

      Hi Quig. That truly sounds like an interesting one, don't think I've heard about a Zinfandel cask matured whisky before. Cheers!

    Morning Gustav. I had a look for some lime Lindt chocolate and couldn't find any. This Tullibardine is hard to find in uk stores I can only get them online. I'm planning a trip up to Scotland to raid some whisky stores in the near future as I'm only an hour or two away from Scotland.

      Sounds like the way to go Gary! I found that the Lime Lindt here is seasonal, and not always available. Cheers!
