Solid review-this is a major headache having to shoot the same stuff twice! My only critique would be the height of the vertical shots. I’d probably have to shoot a little lower with the main camera.
Hey Mike, have you heard of 'open gate'. I've been using a GH5s for close to 5 years, and it supports open gate. There's quite a few cameras including blackmagic that has it - in a nutshell it records the full 3:2 sensor and then in post you crop the type of video you want. The camera has an overlay so you can see the composition in each deliverable. The two main advantages Ive found to open gate is that my competitions clients have been switching to me because when he breaks out an iPhone they think its not professional (We all know that the iPhone is ok for video - so a little crazy, but ill take their money). And there's only one camera to make sure is shooting, and at the correct settings eg slow mo for details. btw really been enjoying your content - keep up the great work.
I was going to mention the same thing. I bought a GH6 for exactly this reason. The only shortcoming is that the maximum frame rate is 30fps. I've still gotten away with just changing my camera movements to be more deliberate and slower than when I'm shooting 60fps. If Panasonic just enabled us to shoot in open gate at 60fps (probably with a decrease in quality, which I'd be ok with), it would be unstoppable.
Also, I settled on using the vertical mount on the RS3 Pro and my a7siii for shooting vertical videos so I don’t typically use a phone to shoot them. Always trying and exploring new ideas though and sharing my findings!
This was an interesting solution. We're all struggling for an economical way to record in 2 formats, so all of the different ways of doing it are relevant.
The open gate is THE BEST SOLUTION for shoot horizontal and vertical content , no need iPhone , no need a mounting plate , just shoot horizontaly and use the center of the frame , it’s give you all the size of the sensor for vertical content ….. magical [ gh5 gh6 bmcc 6k full frame s5 II s5 II X ]. 💪🏾😎
Thanks Mike, very instructive as usual. Another issue I have with this setup is the height of the mobile phone in some images it is too high and gives a weird sense.
don't like it, shots look way too high up, but as always thanks for everything mike, you've literally help me get my business completely running from scratch in 2 days , I did a RUclips video for a builder that went viral and they asked me to handle their photography, never shot photography before, but after watching all of your content I freaking nailed it!
Real simple, if they request both I charge for both meaning I plan for the time on location for it. 350 for the walk through video and 175 for the reel. The reel is quick and simple there for doesn’t take much time at all. Most agents just want verticals these days
Thank you. This is the number source for RE photo/video information on RUclips.

Agreed!
Thanks as always Mike for taking your valuable time to help better other aspiring RE Photographers. Keep up the amazing eye catching content!👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Thank you Mike! I'll try this!

I have not heard of this! Thank you for bringing it to my attention 😊

Great idea! I do similar with a SmallRig mount. I don’t see the link to this adapter in your description, or gear page. Did I miss it?
Haha, I totally forgot to add that. Will do shortly! Thanks for pointing that out!
@@InsideRealEstatePhotography thanks! I am just glad that I am not losing my mind. Or, eye sight!

Definitely agree. The phone footage was too high.
Agree too. Was thinking possibly mount either gopro or phone on bracket near camera level.
Great info Thanks! FYI SC Simultaneously

Awesome, great to hear it! ❤️ and yes, I agree. It’s too high.

Definitely gotta charge for it no matter how you do it!
