I posted a shorter version of this a few months ago..... this is the full version. I've left some of the original soundtrack on... Radio 1... Paul Burnett Show.... the rest is local (now split up) band "Naked Remedy"
Starts in Spencer Street then onto Stourport Road.... along the Ring Road to Town Centre.... This is before the Forrest Glades was built and the Cinema was still in Oxford Street..... up to George Street, via Comberton Hill... then back down Green Street, Castle Road to home in Spencer Street. Car was Ford Escort 1600 sport... and YES... I have slowed down now !!

Thank you for uploading this video, Paul. I can vaguely remember Naked Remedy... they knocked out some good tunes. I have slowed down a bit too now... but the memory is still in my right foot from time to time.

Thanks for this. I can actually remember it looking like this. I can remember my dad dropping my mom off in town on a Saturday morning right to the doors of Woolworths. The cinema was great, very ornate inside with ushers that had torches, Kia Ora sold in the intervals - no one feeling the desperate need to text and Facebook all the bleedin way through the film!

I know, I used to live in Bewdley which basically meant you more or less lived in kiddi as well, and look at how bad it is now, pretty much uninhabitable as far as I'm concerned, it's like a giant parking lot, very depressing.

Nice one Paul! Unlike several previous commentators, I CAN remember Kiddy as it was in 1980 - and I have to say, it was a lot better then than it is now. For a start, I couldn't see a single mobility scooter in your video mate! Kiddy gets bad press but back in the day it was a great town - in music, fashion, footy it held its own with the best of 'em......Such a massive shame to see its manufacturing capabilities reduced to nothing however (for the younger viewers, when Kiddy was full of busy factories, the place was really buzzing - a great place to be). This is a fantastic upload, thanks Paul - just to see you driving up Vicar Street brings back soooo many memories mate !!!!!

Absolutely fab to see vintage Kiddy again. Thank you ever so much for the great memories Paul. My twin brother and I lived in Kiddy from birth until we moved away in our early twenties and now we regularly go back to see our Mum, so we fondly remember places like the old cinema as well as Woolies. We were about nine years old when you took this video. It's also the lack of cars around compared to now - we still see our Godfather who lives on Spencer Street and the street looked so empty then. Oh the gas cylinder and Woolworth and Littlewoods (I know Crown house but that has only just recently gone), plus you can no longer drive up Vicar street or down Oxford Street. But I would love to see some film of the 1960s or early 1970s before the ring road was built. That would be really something! Do you know if any moving film survives from that time? Your Daytona yellow 1600 sport would be very welcome on my drive now! Do you remember the reg number by any chance? Paul Donovon just a quick question do you still live in Kidderminster? How badly does it hit you that the town you drove through in 1980 to now... oh wait you can't do that now, but it's shocking to me that the stores were rammed, people walking down the town shops at Christmas and there was nothing was going wrong. Just to mention I wasn't alive then, I was born in 1994 so some of these shops were gone by then, but it's interesting to see how a town that was once thriving to a ghost-town now

@@PaulDonovan It's so refreshing to have a content creator reply to me. Absolutely downhill, this situation we're in now won't do either of those towns any favours. A lot of the shops towards the ring road are still left empty. Adams kids has still got its sign over the door, but that closed early 2000s. The party shop became a short lived aquarium place, that was shut down too, it's just full of charity shops now. I had a dream once in 2008 that Game would run into trouble along with Gamestation and in 2012 it happened. Gamestation was liquidated and most became CEX stores and a lot of Game stores shut.
