Here is the article with all of the watts calculations from today's stage and how it stacks up against the best results this season and of Roglic last year : lanternerouge.com.au/2022/03/12/roglic-breaks-col-de-turini-record-paris-nice-stage-7/
Hi Lanterne Rouge ❤️
Just shows how impressive Martinez is
In order to prevent a repeated history I'd have not gone for the win to have another bullet for tomorrow, as the yellow Jersey would not have changed hands.
My prediction is a very narrow win or possibly narrow overall loss on the yellow Jersey tomorrow, with zero chance of winning tomorrow's stage for Roglic.
another great video! thanks!
@@benbraceletspurple9108 what's he gonna do not sprint against his rivals in the last 200 meters and just lose bonus seconds that very well could be extremely valuable by the end of tomorrow?
The Re-caps are "always" first class. This channel is very good for World Class road cycling coverage...thank you. Cheers.
These videos and the podcast have made me a cycling fan. For someone who had no real prior knowledge of the sport just want to say thanks, there is no better way to start to understand the sport than by watching these recaps.
This by is far the true assassin of cycling
As a big JV fan-boy I gotta say I'm really pleased with R Dennis this year.
this aged poorly
I know Adam Yates is supposedly Ineos' GC leader at the Tour now but looking at Martinez's current form and the fact Yates is much better on a 1 week race than a 3 week race, surely Martinez should at least be a co-leader at the Tour, right?
Martinez cannot descend though!
Yes he maybe doesn't start as a leader, but he'll eventually come out on top and become their leader. Like we have seen happening before times and times again at Sky/Ineos.
Can Martinez tt?
@@louisgenin1038 Kinda
@@louisgenin1038 he can be decent like he was in this races TT. Idk actually know how he is on longer TT's though

+5% in watts.

15km at 7%......that would destroy most of us cycling fans! Going up it at racing speeds is just mind boggling (and heart/lung destroying!!!)
Pro riders are mutants lol
I love this content, the w/kg really shows the level of roglic. Also the article that compares the pog and rog to the field is great, to be fair so are the rest. Wish they had more races together this year so we don't have to wait for the tour all year and not get it at the end...
Nice stage. Only missed blue in the sky. Rog just punched away 300m to go. The Rog and Pod show 22 looking the repeat of 21.
Just hoping Rog can stay on his bike in the TDF so we can see them go head to head
@@milesrosen2223 for sure. Proper tussle
@@milesrosen2223 You jinxed it
I think Roglic beeing isolated on a col like Turini isn't really a problem. It's only uphill to the finish. But tomorrow is a hard stage where you don't want to close gaps alone on the descent and on the flat. Really interested to see what INEOS and other teams will try to do.
Gran ciclista Roglic .... Tiene muchos golpes en caídas. Que no tiene explicación lo rápido que se repone !!!
Crack de Crack !!!
I’m at Sospel now having a cappucino about to start col de Turini and using this video to psych myself up. I live nearby in Monaco. Thursday two or three week back I met superstar Richie Porte and two of his friends riding up and joined him for part of it (but pace too much) and was super impressed how kind, open and communicative he was. Fantastic person.
It is a truly great climb If starting and ending at Monaco and entering from the Sospel direction (and having to pass col de Castillon before reaching Sospel), the total necessary climbing is 2,400m. If also starting and ending in Monaco but passing Peille (doing Col de Turini in the opposite direction), the total necessary climbing is also 2,300m, so it is almost the same in both directions. So you can also do round trips from Monaco, without backtracking, and either passing Sospel before the climb or after it, and the total climbing is about 2,400m. It is tough ride. If you ride directly from Nice to col de Castillion, and descend back the same way, it can be done without almost no extra climbing so the total climbing for the day about 1,700m if going directly from Nice to L'Escarene to Col de Turini and then reverse the ride.
That clip of Mørkøv getting caught is hilarious, good to know that even he doesn't take his meme attacks in the break seriously.
The manner in which Roglic won this stage was scary ... until you see what Pogacar did to his rivals in Tirreno Adriatico!
I have a feeling about that Jonas kid though.. 😏
Great recap. A suggestion on the graphs on the website. I have to present a lot of data in graphs, and I feel like the images will look much cleaner if you remove the grid lines from graphs. It may look weird at first, but the grid lines kind of blur together when you are looking at it for too long.
Thanks for the suggestion. I'm the guy who makes the graphs and writes articles. Removed the gridlines and you're probably right.
@@WattPolice Great job with them! They have been great to read and I really appreciate the in-depth analysis. I definitely think it is something that I haven't seen in cycling before. It took my a while to get away from the grid lines - it was ingrained in me that we always had to have them, and Idk now I just think it looks much better without them and most people in my profession don't use them. Maybe my eyes just go crossed-eyed after staring at graphs on the computer lol.
Pog and Rog looks like showdown this year. I always look at the cadence, Pog never seems to spin that quick where Rog is full on Froome washing machine mode
Und what..i never look at cadence
That Yates head shake at Quintana, dude how do you spot this stuff? Great recap. Thanks.
Patty, Benji, great job. Thanks again, Sean.
I can do 6.05 W/kg as well for 0.5 seconds.
I could also keep up during the trackstand portion of the climb probably.
TJV give me a call!
Roglic and Jumbo are going to be a force at TDF
Thanks for the quality analysis 👍
GCN have had their highlights out for a few hours... I still waited for LR instead though... a different class!

Loving the website and data. Any plans to get those guys that write the articles and do the calculations on the podcast at any point?
As an austrian i find your pronouncing of Mühlberger funny
Can’t wait to see Primoz against Pogačar in TDF..
hard work
DOPE
I hope Paris Olympic road race 2024 will be done in this track. Really interesting..
How the hell is this performance a record ? He almost 'nose-breathed' through all the climb. He was in a complete eco-efficiency mode. Only time he was in red probably during that 200 meter burst period.
Wonder why
1) never show weakness at the front of a race
2) goddamn right you nose-breathe on most of a 40-minute climb otherwise say hello to the grupetto
3) he was working with others for most of the climb, as opposed to Nairo/Bernal butting heads in 2019.
4) true, none of this makes sense because of the track-standing at the end of the climb, but that was only the last 1km after 14km of steady grinding.
Lol Simon Yates said they were all gasping except for Rog who was barely breathing but woteva
@@willbick3 ...and now we see today that Roglic did indeed cook himself on the climb yesterday. I refer back to my point about not showing weakness - if he had been grunting and grimacing, the others would have been working harder to crack him. Instead, because he was steady pacing and snapping to close every attack, the other riders figured he couldn't be cracked and simply fought amongst each other for the scraps. But yeah sure, there's no tactics or subtlety in cycling, it just means Rog is doping, blah blah blah
Martins andou muito pra mim foi o melhor.

Good stuff, can someone explain the Yates bros dynamic? Why not the same team?
The Yates boys were on the same team forever until last year, when Adam went to Ineos. Doubt that BEX could afford both, so they choose Simon, who they've had the most success with. This race is one of the first head to head races between them, but Simon had a great TT and Martinez took over from Adam as leader at Ineos.
Хороший спорт!
Just don’t understand S.Yates positioning, always at the back of peloton in the climbs even with good legs, like wtf
I'm with you man. There's no way anybody can make it make sense.
Two different races yet Pog and Rog is still being compared, gosh hope to see them clash. Must be frustrating for other teams and fans too especially ineos'.

What do you think Roglic's best ever performance is?
surely Kruijswijk aint going to the tour, only if his performance increases a lot, but I dont see it
Did you see what Kuss did today? He is horrible in Tirreno.
@@wojta610cz5 true, and in the last years he always has been fantastic at GT for Roglic, so I guess there is still time 👍🏽
I thought that TJV had already confirmed him, even though they didn't even confirm Roglic
@@wojta610cz5 he was only okay last year leading up to the Tour. By the end he had a stage win and was with his leader pretty much to the end of mountain top finishes.
They'll have the data, and will know if he is doing good or not .. you can't base a whole lot on his 'performance' here. He did what he had to do, and Roglic won, what more would you want?
What makes DSM guys going without enough punch during these seasons
Can he beat pogacar?
If so, how?
Power in numbers maybe. Just think. Jonas and Roglic will probably be there at the end of climbs. And also Kuss (Seems to always bring his A game for the tour) somehow they gotta use that advantage smartly.
Also since that TT in the 20 Tour Roglic has been dominant. I think he could definitely take time from Pogacar there as well. But that's all I got really.
@@Sportsloverandrew I hope you are right. I've never seen pogacar crack like roglic did on stage 20 tho. I really hope jumbo win it this year. I hope its at least very close.
@@billpickle2875 I just hope we get to see both of them at their best for 3 weeks. That cobble stage is gonna be so important. It'll be a test for everyone obviously but if Roglic comes out of that just fine. I think we will have one great race to watch.
@@Sportsloverandrew yeah good point. I was so gutted with the first 3 stages of last yr. Sort of ruined the tour for me.
They both looking good so fi gers crossed they both make it to the mountains with their teams intact.

2022 is officially featuring heaviest average bike weights since 1997...
Ineos should trash their disc brakes
If these bikes are such porkers, and if a lighter rim brake bike is an advantage, then why is virtually nobody running rim brakes? Like, if it's a massive advantage to run rim brake bikes, wouldn't pro-conti teams be running them (cheaper too right?) and reaping the performance rewards? Or is the pro peloton just a chess piece controlled at the whim of the unspeakable evil of the bike industry, selling their dirty disc brakes to the masses? Find out if durianrider has the answers to these questions, and more questions that absolutely nobody gives a flying fuck about, tomorrow after his 2AM wank.
