    i attempted this today, but it ended up just looking like a normal mushroom pendant with strips lol. need to figure out how to keep the legs/tentacles stay outward and not shrink down onto the center colored glass

      I know you asked a really long time ago, but to answer your question; it's vermiculite.

      Thanks man! No problem. I've been melting for a couple months now w my own torch and kiln ;)

      Nice! I've been wanting to get my own torch for years. Hopefully someday! Luckily I live in a town with lots of lampworkers, so maybe I can find someone who will let me apprentice.

      ben it took me 3 years to get my set up, I was a broke kid thou when I had my dreams I didnt get started until I was 18!

    What are you putting them in after to anneal them? Is it like sand?
