yeah man,im not an expert but i've got experience in the languages he speaks, and he's near native/native level, a good model to follow for language nerd like me ;)
I speak 4 languages too, but Ain't as awesome as this guy :D It's not the language skills, it's him that makes different languages coming from one guy special. Besides I wonder when he was able to find time to learn them, most of his time was on court, either practicing or playing. He is simply a genius!
I know I'm 5 years too late^^ He's from Switzerland and we're learning english, german and frensh in school. I don't know how it was in Rogers time but I've started learning Highgerman in first grade(6-7y), English in third(8-9y) and frensh in fifth(10-11y) and that at least up to seventh grade, but most people till nineth grade.
French and German will come naturally to him, as he is from Switzerland. His English is brilliant...apparently he speaks pretty good Swedish and Spanish too :)
@zimThuet I wouldn't make sense for Roger to speak Italian. The reason why his French is so outstanding is because he practiced in the french-speaking part for a couple of years. But as you said, most of us speak French here, but not at the same level as Roger ;)
I mean just because he's Swiss doesn't make him multilingual automatically. Look at Wawrinka, apart from English, he speaks only French, although he understand Swiss and German.
Wonder how Roger doesn't go crazy !!
Roger really inspired me to study language. Now I speak English, French, Chinese.Maybe I’ll try German someday.

Not to mention that Switzerland has four language-regions(Italian, (Swiss)German, Frensh and Reteromanic)
Helagon Is it possible for Swiss to understand standard German?

@Shaungotti29 But I imagine they teach French in Swiss German areas in schools? But I forgot his mother was South African! Good point :)
His English is very good.
