  • 30 years ago today the album Slave to the Grind became the very first heavy metal album in history to debut at number one on the billboard album chart. My Father was commissioned by Atlantic Records to create and paint the cover for the album which I have had on my wall for 30 years now. Here's a video unboxing the latest vinyl release of Slave to the Grind which came out last Record Store Day in 2020. Maybe one day we can come together as a band and give the fans what they deserve which is a proper release from the master original tapes. Until that time see if you can find an original pressing of the record but they are not easy to find. How ironic is it that Michael Wagener the producer of Slave to the Grind announces his retirement the same year some complete strangers take over our record and do whatever they want without any of our say or knowledge. Oh well that's showbiz I guess. Anyways get ready for the Slave to the Grind 30th Anniversary Tour starting this October in the United States! Details TBA get ready to rock mother Truckers!!!

I'm from Peterborough Ontario and knew Sebastians brother when I was a teenager. At the time I also knew their father David and had the pleasure of seeing his art studio. One afternoon I went to his studio and saw what became the Slave To Grind Album cover he was working on which now hangs in Sebastian's house. As a side note many local people from around town were used in the artwork including his brother who is the individual in the window. Meeting Sebastian at that time at his moms house was the biggest thing that had happened to me up to that point in my life. Unbelievable it was 30 years ago.

No kidding. I’m 31, so I didn’t grow up listening to Skid Row. I had to discover them on my own when my Dad would listen. I read his book last month and loved it.
Hearing about the rest of the band and how they refuse to bury the hatchet and get together comes off extremely immature. They are all grown adults. Get together and talk, and celebrate together. Sebastian is better off without friends like that. They basically casted him off and it feels like they think they are better than him, which is hilarious.

Well, Sebastian, I have to say that watching this has been emotional for me too. You, and Skid Row, helped me survive High School and some pretty intense traumas throughout my life. Your debut album came out at the beginning of my first year of High School and it was hands down my favourite record ever until 'Slave To The Grind' came out!!
Watching you play the original LP took me straight back to the day the album first came out. I picked it up from the record store straight after school and listened to it as soon as I got home through massive old school headphones and I cranked the volume up to the sweet spot just before it becomes painful. I'm not going to lie, I have loved a great many records over the years, but to this day my first listen to 'Slave' has never been matched. The intro to 'Monkey Business ' still sends chills down my spine. I can only say it was mind blowing transcendental ecstasy. We have never met, Sebastian, but you, and the band, gave me one of the happiest moments of my life. So, Thank You!
Slave To The Grind is simply a masterpiece. I wish more people recognised this and gave you respect for your incredible talent. You seem to be such a down to earth guy and I am saddened that the rest of the band can't respect what you ALL created together and let bygones be bygones. As a fan I just don't understand it, because it leaves the door open for vultures to feed off your legacy with album rereleases that literally diminish the music you made. Surely you, the members of Skid Row (the REAL members) should determine the product that bears your names and control your legacy?
What a crazy world we live in! Skid Row, no bullshit, were the best band in the world and deserved to have longevity like Metallica.
Anyway, Sebastian, as ABBA sang 'Thank you for the Music and for giving it to me!' Those albums are always going to be with me, and even though I was always more of a Youth Gone Mild, your voice has always helped me survive the worst times in my life and brought joy to the kinder times. I hope the future brings you the recognition your art deserves and the happiness in life that you deserve. 🤘🤘

Who needs friends like that Sebastian, I am sorry to say YOU are the ONLY Skid Row I have ever listened to. Just wanna let them know that Jealousy is NOT a good color on them. I also love how proud you are of your family and your fathers amazing talent! Rock on 🤘. Sorry I had to come back and say after hearing the 91 compared to the "new one" I am gonna give the "new" one a hard NOPE. WHY do they want to TAME the voice ??? I WANT THE RAW AND REAL DEAL. That's you Sebastian!

I have a male friend like this who I'm no longer friends with recently as well as family of origin (who I am now leaving behind after they're hacking of my phone and one of them admitting it.) The sad thing about jealous people whether it be rockstar's haters or nobodys like me's haters is that they are too preoccupied with themselves to even admit the root to their envy problem

Sebastian I love your brutal honesty brother. We as vinyl lovers feel this pain all the time with these reissues. The way you acted when you heard the original was so great! I know the record business has changed so much since the 80's and early 90's. Your honesty is greatly appreciated as I know some musicians would likely not be as honest as you have been with us. THANK YOU.

Sorry that Skid Row won't come to there senses and reunite with you, it would be one of the greatest metal reunions of all time. Three Skid Row albums with you isn't nearly enough. Your solo albums are way better than anything Skid Row is doing without you, been listening to those a lot lately. Just don't give up and keep doing what your doing.

Sebastian, I'm a big fan of your work and your person. I have always admired your ability and talent, giving body and soul in everything u proposes to do. You built the band Skid Row, you were the soul of that group. 25 years later I still deeply regret your departure from the group, as in my view the band without you was no longer the Skid Row we loved. Keep it up, authentic, true, spontaneous and with this strong personality. These are the characteristics that have made you the landmark in the history of rock music worldwide. Kisses in the heart, love Isabel, Ribeirão Preto, SP - Brazil.
