I just saw Extreme in Cincinnati this week! What an amazing show! We bought tickets at the box office when we arrived, just planning to get whatever was left in the back. But they shockingly had two seats in Row B! They were way off to the side, but the luck hadn’t run out yet. Because a guy who I chatted with in the merch line saw me and came over to let me know that him and his wife had to leave after Living Colour’s set, and we could take their seats when they left! They were literally front and center! Same row we were already in, but dead center! The night got even cooler when I went to use the restroom during the break between sets. I happened to see Gerard Zappa, who used to be in the band Valentine and currently plays bass for Steve Augeri (former singer for Journey). I was shocked! I learned later that he actually lives in Cincinnati now, so I guess I need to look out for him at Cincy concerts! 😄 We didn’t talk long. Just a quick greeting and a handshake, and I let him and his lady go on their way. But it was so cool for me to just happen upon him like that! Anyway, it was great to see Extreme again, and have them get a full headlining set. Last time I saw them was when they opened for Aerosmith at Fenway Park in 2022 at Aerosmith’s delayed 50th anniversary show. Wild that I went from seeing them across an entire baseball field to suddenly being feet away from them! 😄 Funnily enough, the only other time I’ve seen Living Colour was also as an opener for Aerosmith. 😆 That was on their 2015 Blue Army tour, which I caught in Grand Rapids.
The live evil Black Sabbath Blu-ray Dolby Atmos in PCM surround sound if played through a Dolby Atmos receiver you can change the settings to get all the speakers in 7.1 surround sound and it's nice and clear and loud
I just received the new release of Black Sabbath's "Live Evil" in Dolby Atmos, and I can't recommend it enough to fans of the band and this era of sabbath! The sound quality is fantastic, especially considering the age of the album. It truly captures that live concert feel that I crave, immersing me in the sonic experience in a way that enhances the raw energy of the performance. While I came across a video critiquing this release, I find our opinions differ significantly. For me, the audio itself is impressive and pays homage to the legendary band and their work. I think they did a wonderful job capturing the live feel with the band up front and the crowd in the back with some atmosphere floating above you this is totally appropriate for how this should sound and I love it for that. One thing I wish was included is visual content to accompany the audio but its a audio cd so i understand just experiencing those iconic performances with stunning visuals that match the enhanced sound would have made this even better. Nevertheless, I am thrilled to finally have Dio-era Black Sabbath in Dolby Atmos. It adds another layer to their already rich discography, allowing listeners to appreciate the depth and intricacies of the music like never before. Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase and can't wait to share this incredible listening experience with fellow fans. Go buy this one
I just received my copy of Black Sabbath from Rhino Hi Fi. I was so frustrated to miss the first release but thrilled that they re-released it. To hell with those snakes asking for 4 times the price.
I agree that the Sabbath debut reissue is great. I'm confused by the live evil thing. Is that essentially audio that you have to play in a BluRay player?
Frank, THANK YOU so much for the heads up! Like yourself, we’ve always loved Rhino releases and Black Sabbath for that matter. Hard to believe that the Blu-ray was such a huge swing and a miss. However, glad we’ll be able to pick up the high fidelity vinyl copy now. Great video sir!🙏🏻🎧
I was able to get myself a copy of the Rhino high fidelity reissue before it sold out. I haven’t given it a listen yet, that will be this weekend. Like you, I’m a Black Sabbath nerd too
Hello Frank ! This was good. I still have my 1973 Uk reissue , but it has started to sound a little bit …………..tired ? Thinking about replacing it , this info helps.
I’ve been purchasing the Rhino Hi fidelity releases and must say I’ve loved every one of them. From the Black Sabbath S/T to Bad Company to the first 5 ZZ Top albums issued in a box set. They are fantastic.
Update, I have upgraded to 9.2. And this sounds awesome 👌. Dio front and center. The music sounds awesome 👌. If you have the right equipment, it's worth it.
I'm with you... They wouldn't be in my Top 20 fav bands... but they did just become my fav live band. Glad I finally got to see them (after hearing good things for years).
Saw Extreme last night at Casino Rama in Orillia (they kept calling the crowd Toronto lol). You're right on about them, wicked show and I didn't realize Nuno was the real front man. I was disappointed that you had mentioned earlier you weren't very impressed with the new album, we think think it's sensational.
Glad to see you back on the gig front Frank.. I thought i was a bit old for gigs, but after Covid, I was up for almost any live band. Say what you like about them but last minute I went to see "The Darkness" on their "Permision to land" 20th anniversary tour last year.. and holy cr*p, that was amazing. Always tongue in cheek, but sweet jesus, they can rock !! Have a great weekend Frank !!!
I'm glad to hear The Darkness put on a good show... they were here just before COVID playing a 300-seat theatre. I regret not going. I really like Justin Hawkins RUclips channel. Have a great weekend as well, Graham!
I've always been a Top 40 type of person so Black Sabbath hasn't been in my wheelhouse. I thought that their single "Iron Man" was pretty cool so I have a promo 45 of that. I do have all their albums which I purchased from Pop Market back in 2013, as a sale package deal, which were the 2010 re-issues. Pop Market seemed to start out as a clearing house, possibly for Columbia House, but then expanded into exclusive releases, including boxed LP sets. They sold new records at bargain prices and shipped them for free. I also had bought exclusive Record Store Day releases from them, also at bargain prices. So many RSD releases don't make it to the independent record stores on time, but show up later. PM was taken over by another company, the great deals ended and I believe everything disappeared.
Just saw Extreme and Living colour here in Thunder Bay. It was probably after the Winnipeg show. I couldn't agree more. Unbelievable show. One of the best I've ever seen! The little EVH tributes by Nuno were awesome. Gary's vocals are still on point! Harmonies fantastic.
Thanks for the heads up on that bluray! I'm like you, I LOVE a good surround mix, especially for music (I currently have a 7.1 setup for my main area, which is plenty for me) STILL trying to decide on that newest Sabbath repress, like you I already have too many!!
That Black Sabbath album was my white whale for a while. Then a friends wife gave it(and others) gave me a bunch of albums from him. He passed a few years ago and I will cherish it.
Body Count have done some good stuff, controversial, not for the faint hearted (as you'd expect from Ice-T), more a metal punk crossover style I would say. Their version , song and video, of Suicidal Tendencies Institutionalized is hilarious and great
I was too extreme in the 90s. We go to the comic book store and the older guy would be playing it so we jammed it a bunch living color I could leave forever. I watched professional wrestling and punk uses that song and I hate it. Not only that but it’s making him come back on dad rock radio stations and I hear it like three times. I know it’s not only song, but that turns me off
@Channel33RPM I had to do some comparisons, and the Rhino High Fidelity came out the best sounding one. The runner up is the Rhino two LP reissue with the bonus tracks on sides 3 and 4.
The next Vinyl Dens will be next Sunday. I have just started putting it together. I have 8 great spaces to show, including an old pioneer log cabin, that now functions as a music space (it's very cool).
Dude, get rid of your old Yamaha. Update to a Denon AVR-X6700H 11.2-Channel 8K AV Receiver. You'll be very happy. And there's a phono jack, too. Love mine. It's not hard to set up. I suggest buying the application. Dam thing is Flawless!
Yeah, I saw they were sold out in the U.S. store... there were some available in the Canada store when I uploaded this video yesterday, though I'm not sure if that's still the case.
@@Channel33RPMwhat’s your take on these limited numbered copy releases? I got one of the second batch but I have a few of the other numbered copy albums from the series. Personally I think it’s a gimmick. Especially now that they re-release them. The first Cars album sold out quickly as well but never got a re-release.
@@kemlay2451 I wont argue with that. But Sabbath, and Rainbow were definitely better off with Dio!! I don't know much about Elf so I can't comment on that.
Awful take. Sabbath isn't Sabbath without Ozzy's vocals. Dio is an amazing, talented singer whos probably better technically, but Ozzy has that haunting charismatic quality in his voice that makes it perfect for Sabbath.
That is mostly a RUclips issue, rather than a Channel 33 RPM issue. RUclips will insert ads, even in cases where a creator opts out of them. I don't opt out of them, but I also don't believe there should be an ad every few minutes. Personally, I got tired of watching ads, so enrolled in YT premium. It's not cheap - but for me, it was worth it (I can't go back). There are also ad blockers, but those take money from those who create videos, which I don't want to do.
I was so tempted to pick up the first 3 Extreme albums today. But that Black Sabbath album will never get old.
No Black Sabbath album should be avoided.

Doug Wimbish , Living Colors bass player is phenomenal! I saw him twice with Tackhead in Dallas in the’80’s and got to meet the group after.

Saw Living Colour a year ago, they were absolutely amazing
I went this past March to see Living Color and stayed for Nuno. I'm now a believer Extreme was really awesome.

Thanks!
Extreme concert was amazing!!!
Much higher than expectations!!!!
EXTREME is a phenomenal live band. I'm not even a big fan, but I agree with your live show appraisal. Living Colour is also wonderful.

It's not bad in 7.1. But better in atmos. 7.1 is DTS and sounds good 👍 👌
@@JohnDoe-bz3ic I'm able to get limited Atmos with the 7.1, but funny thing is, I actually DO prefer DTS. Always been my favorite! (or DTS X also)
Saw Living Colour on the original Lalapalooza tour and they were awesome. May need to go put on 'Vivid' to rock in the weekend.
That would have been a great tour to see?

Black Sabbath album still available at Warner Music Canada site. Just checked.

From what I have read, the new Rhino reissue is a very good mix. I think it is better than the original Vertigo Swirl release.
As far as I know, the Black Sabbath debut has never been remixed, but there are various remasters. I would love to hear the Vertigo press someday. \m/

I have the Rhino High Fidelity issue of Black Sabbath's debut. Great sounding record. It's my, I think, 8th copy of it.
A great pressing! What is your best pressing?
I got about a month ago the 50th anniversary Vertigo Black Sabbath debut and it's much cleaner than my warner copy from a long time ago

Nice intro song to your channel.
I have loved the Rhino Blu-ray audio releases but man was that one a swing and a miss.

One of these days...
Okay, now I'm hearing Ronnie out of the right speaker. Still cool atmos mix.
Good stuff
Will reissues ever end ?
Hopefully not so I can aquire all these classic albums that are never available to find!! Keep bringing 'em on!
The second batch of unnumbered Black Sabbath is also sold out.

Gimmick, I agree. Just give me the tunes (on black vinyl) and I'm happy.
Please, folks... Just enjoy the music, for a change!!
???????????
Yeah, it's going to sound like crap. If you don't have 7.2 atmos. Mine sounds awesome 👌!!!!
I'm glad you dig it. It's a classic album. Some armos discs can sound amazing in 5.1 - it automatically folds down.
I cant stand how all the new live albums have so much echo and reverb, they are unlistenable for me, the band becomes just part of the din.
Frank, would you consider reviewing David gilmour's luck and strange?
Very poor advice on black sabbath item to purchase
Ozzy was better off as a solo artist. And Black Sabbath was better off with Dio!!
Dio was better off solo than with Elf, Rainbow or Black Sabbath.
