I grew up on Rock n Roll. Zeppelin, Van Halen, Jeff Beck,!Deep Purple, Rainbow, Scorpions, Dio, Skynard, Yes, I could go on and on. How in the world did Gary Moore slip through the cracks. This guy has quickly became my favorite guitarist ever. That used to be Eddie Van Halen, Carlos Santana, Jeff Beck. But I think Gary is a better guitar player than all three of them. I discovered Gary about two years ago on Facebook. I love his blues work. But over the period of time I’ve discovered all his other work and now quickly love everything he does. It’s just a shame that he did not get the air time over here in America. I would’ve definitely seen him live in concert. It’s a shame I’ll never get to see him live. I grew up in San Diego California still reside here. He came here in the 80s, I’m blown away that I missed that show. Heck I would fly overseas to see Gary play. By reading comments on RUclips videos of Gary I can see he is very popular in Europe South America Japan all over the world. Everywhere but America. Is anybody have any thoughts on why this is the case? Thank God for RUclips and other music sources so that we still have so much material Gary to enjoy. I have a six disc CD player in my car. Every CD is Gary Moore for the last two years and I’m not even close to be in tired of listening to them. Thank God for Gary Moore! 🎸❤️🎸❤️🎸❤️
Grew up in SD and saw Gary open up for Rush in 1984. Amazing show cuz I was all about Rush but loved Gary and his version of Shapes of Things cuz Beck is my favorite ever. Gary gave it his Blues/Metal flair and I was hooked! And he could sing. What an amazing talent. I miss him dearly!
Craig Gruber was a wonderful and deeply talented bass player. Had the privilege of meeting him at a Christmas party in Central NY the year after this video was recorded. He gave me some cool bass technique pointers including my first ever exposure to thumb funk pop slap style. RIP to him and Gary two incredible musicians and gentlemen.
I'm listening to this in 2024 40 years ago ! Great memories i saw Gary live on this tour. i still have the concert programme and at Donington 1984. I bootlegged off the Radio1 rock show. i still got it on tape!
The guy playing guitar is playing an ibanez RS1000, the one Gary endorsed around that time. I actually have one, still in near mint condition. I got mine because of Gary...I'm glad his music & part of his soul lives on through his music
Gary's death comes as a total shock. A tremendous talent has been lost. Gary was one of my guitar idols and reasons for picking up an electric guitar. Thanks for the music Gary. R.I.P.
@werdnathecat2 OOh, Really? Neil Carter was one of the reason of the success of Gary Moore. His work was really good and in the live concerts he was really professional... This kind of men who make the story of the Metal bigger and bigger working in the background. Give thanks to your uncle!
my life long dream since I heard this when it came out on the radiowas to play this song...alas..at my present age, I forget where I put the guitar never mind what the notes are.lol ..this IMHO is the ultimate power song with peffect dynamics....simply awesome
That's really cool. He's a really talented guy. He was in UFO too before hooking up with Gary.In later years, Ive noticed your uncle sang the whole song. He may have sang others as well. His is very good. Very similar to Gary's.
pokerkingTJQKA - Good call man. I have to admit I missed the boat. I didn't discover him til after Victims came out. BUT you observation about Vivien Campbell is dead on. Holy Diver is all Gary Moore.
@theeternalidol Look at the guy at 2.19. It's got to be the 80's. Though, I know what You mean, I too think that Gary took some Christmas weight up which he lost later on the same year...
Have this on vid , Moore played really well ,vocals inperfect in places but paice snare is well up in the mix (Good) Neil looks like barry manilow (bad).

If you grew up listening to Thin Lizzy you would know who he was. And it's Skynyrd.
God that song rocked so fucking hard. The original was great and all; but this transformed it in an absolutely crushing masterpiece.
Now that’s how you play a guitar. Often mimicked never matched and sadly missed.
Totally agree R
One of the best guitar players of all time RIP.gary Moore..

Moore, Carter, and Ian Paice. Brilliant.

Yeah but i bet half the chicks there wanted to fuck him.
@Jeff Spicolli i dont know what?. I was simply making the statement that he wasnt your average pretty boy lead guitarist.
Very few have made the guitar sing. Gary Moore was certainly one of them. You'll be sorely missed.
I remember seeing him on this tour at Irvine Meadows Amphitheater...opened up for Rush...blew my mind!
Watched this show on telly. Hats off to Craig Gruber. Bass solo on Empty Rooms is cool and should not have been axed from later releases.
Ian Paice Gary Moore. 2 of my idols!
Solo of the year in 1983. Nobody could touch this.
Yep agreed. Was working at Record Bar in the mall. Played it so loud after hours-mall security came by!
The guy playing guitar is playing an ibanez RS1000, the one Gary endorsed around that time. I actually have one, still in near mint condition. I got mine because of Gary...I'm glad his music & part of his soul lives on through his music
Jeezus Christ on Crutches this was a tight lineup. Moore,Paice,Carter,Gruber. Magnificent.
Gary Moore...nuff said..legend

Uncle Ted on the Bear Michigan said this was the best version! I Agree!!
Gary's death comes as a total shock. A tremendous talent has been lost.
Gary was one of my guitar idols and reasons for picking up an electric guitar.
Thanks for the music Gary. R.I.P.
RIP Gary and Graig 😓
RIP Gary Moore, incredible player
This was January. By the end of that year Ulster hall ( live at the Emerald Aisles) he had lost a lot of weight.
A true guitar master, he will be missed😢
Great tone singing and phrasing!
Singing? Sounds more like out of tune screaming.
What a line up 👍

Totally under rated. Did some spectacular work w UFO in 80s
The best guitarist of all. RiP.
Saw in Madrid fantastic event
I saw Gary on this tour at Manchester Apollo. Ian Paice on the drums was a huge bonus!
One of my all time favorite songs.
Saw Gary on this tour when he opened for Rush at the Forum in L.A. back in 1984.
my life long dream since I heard this when it came out on the radiowas to play this song...alas..at my present age, I forget where I put the guitar never mind what the notes are.lol ..this IMHO is the ultimate power song with peffect dynamics....simply awesome

2 thumbs down. Probably listening to Taylor Swift.
Those 2 people don't know great music.
Have this on vid , Moore played really well ,vocals inperfect in places but paice snare is well up in the mix (Good) Neil looks like barry manilow (bad).
Neil sings the leads well too
Who is the rhythm guitar player? I see him in other of Moore's live stuff.
Barry Manilow.
@74 torino Thanks
I prefer the Nazereth version of this song followed by the original Yardbirds. This is good though and Gary was great on the guitar.
Looks like Gary from the 2000's, but everyone else looks 80'sish. interesting....
I like this version that Moore and Jeff Beck with Stuart does better than the one that Yardbirds, Naazareth and Rush does
@scat311 Check out Phil Emmanuel mate !!!
Is that Barry Manilow on guitar???
Ain't Jay Z
Why u look so angry. No Beyoncé
The one and only Mr Neil Carter! One of the greatest musican ever. He can play fuckin EVERYTHING. He sings,guitars,keyboards,synths,saxophone.....
Neil looks like Barry Manilow!
the yardbirds original was a hundred times better. Gary snore just turns it into a fucking drag.
+4JayeP And you are a fuckwit.
