    THE THOUGHT of being in close contact with an alligator might be terrifying for most people but this lady dresses her pet gator in a TUTU - and even gives it manicures. The four and a half foot reptile, named LillyGator, is known for wearing a tiara, pink dresses and even has her nails painted. Owner Angela Lance, 44, from Pennsylvania, USA, bought Lilly as a tiny hatchling at just two and a half days old.

    actually pampering an alligator would probably be:
    - having a wholesome ocean in the back yard all to herself
    - feeding it its favorite food
    - correctly brushing its teeth
    - letting it run around wherever it wants

      My guess is that they are gonna do this to her until she's basically too big to handle, reaches maturity then becomes aggressive, ect. Once that happens they'll let it go in some pond somewhere. Resulting in the gator ultimately dieing from 1. Lack of life skills, or 2 someone killing her on site.

      Mara Mel Gator likely doesn't care. Her smooth brain does not have the mental capacity to worry about something as trivial to survival as what artificial substances are in her nail polish.
      She is probably perfectly happy being doted on due to Pavlovian conditioning which has led her to associate being handled with free food and safety.
      Food and safety are the two most important factors in a reptile's happiness and psychological well being. If the animal is not frequently hungry nor feels the need to actively seek shelter from predators, then it's stress levels decrease and they become more relaxed.
      After that, it's a matter of fine tuning the creature's enclosure and making sure it is sufficiently large and has adequate full spectrum lighting. The one and only hitch in that woman's care of her alligator is the terrarium she keeps it in. It is too small for a gator of that size and age, and, if not improved upon, will become problematic as Lilly grows to adulthood.

    • @grosslyoffensivelizard-man3438
      @grosslyoffensivelizard-man3438 7 лет назад +7

      +JusticeForTheSilenced Yes. Even insects are capable of Stimulus -> Reward conditioning.
      And as the owner of 2 monitor lizards, a ball python, and an argentine tegu, I know reptiles can also be trained via this conditioning to do just about anything you can get dogs and cats to do.
      Except the snake. She has no external ear-holes and can't hear anything besides floor vibrations. So she doesn't really come when called. Though when she sees me, she slithers on over for chin scratches and dead rabbits.

      that alligator is tiny compared to one's i've seen also you forget the fact thats its probably a rescue or an orphan without a mother so would have died in the wild, and back to the pool size I think its okay in that size of a pool for now when she's not massive and she has a large heat lamp by the looks of it which is very good for her and she's 4 years old so im sure she would have died before that time if she was under any stress by your logic

    • @niteowlx5178

      oh and also, she got it as a hatchling so that life she has there is all she knows, she wasn't taken from the wild and she also saved an alligator that was mistreated and had it sent to a sanctuary so let her care for her alligator, as its not harming you so i dont even know why you comment on her having an alligator

War what are you talking about? no harm? that animal should be in the wild and would be happy there thats why it hisses at her. its not natural to do whats shes doing and the alligator will be hating every second. to take a baby alligator away from its mother and bring it up as a human child is pure wrong, i dont know how you carnt see that. it will end up hating her and probably biteing or killing her. also i am not pretending to know this, i actually do know this as i studied animal psychology and animal welfare and now work hard protecting animals end educating people who try and humanize them.

      dreamsdo cometrue Only 1 out of 100 wild alligators reach adulthood. The rest either are eaten or starve to death. That is why female alligators have evolved to lay so many eggs; it increases the chance that some will survive in their harsh wild habitat.
      Now enlighten us as to what specifically is so wonderful about living a short, brutal life in the wild that it would be preferable to shelter, free food, and clean, parasite-free water?
      As I see it, getting doted on by a lonely old woman seems to be the least bad thing that could possibly happen to an alligator given that their species almost went extinct just a few decades ago, they are currently being out competed for food by invasive pythons and monitor lizards, and they're regularly hunted for food by nearly every large animal in the Everglades, including humans and other alligators.

    • @surtu9221
      @surtu9221 7 лет назад +12

      Oh please, do you know how many alligator hatchlings survive in the wild? 90% die before getting to Lilly's size, and most of the remaining are eaten by larger alligators. This gator is warm, filled with food, doesn't have to risk her life for scraps, and has been protected from an early age by a very competent mother who could keep her from being devoured by eager males hunting for an cannibalistic meal-unlike her actual mama, no matter how badly actual mama would fight trying to save her life. And yeah, for a lion this life would be boring, but for an iguana, alligator, or any other cold-blooded animal, the ability to be warm, fed, not have to ever move, bask, be occasionally brushed, and have someone trusted taking care of them, is the highest form of love they understand. Odds are this woman will face a huge crisis when this gator start getting bigger than a plastic swimming pool, but she's got years and years to figure that out when she gets to it, and she's rescued gators being tortured by their owners twice before so she knows what she's doing. Give some people the benefit of the doubt.
