I agree, when watched for the first time, I saw it as cheating, he hurted blaine bc he also didn't fess up sooner to the point where blaine eventually found out, when blaine cheated, ppl threw a lot of shade on him whereas he actually flew to NY to fess up to kurt about it. with all due respect, Blaine treats him badly. I don't think Kurt knew exactly what he was doing since Blaine did the exact same thing with Sebastian. I think Kurt thought it was alright and it happened all the time in relationships. Because you have to remember, Kurt's really naïve and this is literally his first relationship. Blaine gaslights him a lot and pressures him into a lot of things. Kurt most likely didn't know what he was doing. It's common in situations like these. And it makes sense. Even if the writers weren't intending to do this, it definitely came off as a really good representation of an abusive relationship. In which Blaine was the abuser. I hate how everyone is saying even though Kurt did basically cheat on Blaine it is acceptable because Blaine did it in season 4. Blaine was extremely depressed at that time and it was a long distance relationship. These cheating things happened in two different times of their lives so you can’t really compare them
For me, the biggest thing is that Blaine never tried to pretend that what he did *wasn't* hurtful to Kurt. He cheated, it was a terrible mistake, and he felt awful about it accordingly. Now obviously Kurt never physically cheated or anything, so I'm not saying he had reason to feel the same level of remorse, but the fact is he knew full well that his happily flirting with someone else was hurtful to Blaine, but he still tried to brush it off as nothing just because it wasn't *actual* full out cheating. Instead of just talking to Blaine, he went behind his back and did something hurtful, and then turned around and used the "but it's not actually cheating!" excuse to try and brush it off. When Blaine did actually cheat, on the other hand, he fully owned up to how serious a mistake he had made, and he felt absolutely awful about it. Sure, for one split moment he might have gotten slightly defensive and talked about how Kurt had been pulling away (which wasn't unfounded, though it of course still doesn't excuse the cheating), but immediately after that he went right back to apologizing and taking full responsibility for his own actions. So yeah, was what Kurt did as outright bad as Blaine's physically cheating? Maybe not, but it still wasn't right, and people need to stop acting like Blaine was somehow some huge hypocrite for being hurt by it just because he made a really bad mistake a little later on that he *immediately owned up to* , which is what Kurt didn't do in this scene.

Blaine flirted with someone on Facebook because he could not communicate with Kurt about him as I said 95% of the conversation was about Kurt. d. No one confronted him about the messages so Blaine cheated. e. Blaine felt some remorse so he went to New York and it is the only way he can talk to Kurt as he was really busy so could not really speak to Blaine. f. Kurt found out something was wrong when he sang “Teenager dreams” and confronted him. g. Blaine defended himself by saying: “No, it... it wasn't Sebastian, but it doesn't… It didn't mean anything. It was just a hook-up, okay?” “It doesn't matter who it was with, Kurt. What matters is that I was by myself. I needed you. I needed you around, and you weren't there. And I was lonely, and I'm… I'm really sorry.” h. Kurt responded: “You don't think that I've been lonely? You don't think that I've had temptations? But I didn't act on it because I knew what it meant. It meant something horrible and awful and…I really am.” I. Blaine & Kurt: Sing and break up
4. In conclusion, they both cheated (yes Kurt as well when you’re messaging another guy and hid it from your boyfriend and told him: ” "I like the way he makes me feel. I mean, when was the last time that you complimented me or told me how special I was?" is cheating) because of the lack of communication and attention from each other. The plot was recycled by the writers (like most of season 4 writing) but they made Blaine go further by making him physically cheat on Kurt. So Blaine was right to confront Kurt about it and Kurt was right for breaking up with him after that.

Blaine was being oblivious when Sebastian was flirting with him, but Kurt knew very well that Chandler was flirting with him and he was flirting back. At least that’s how I see it.
I love Blaine, but I lost some respect for him when he tried to force Kurt to have sex with him at Scandals, but all respect was lost when he cheated on Kurt because he felt like Kurt wasn't giving him enough attention. I think it's so funny how everyone get mad at Blaine for cheating on Kurt. Keep in mind Blaine was depressed most of that year. Also keep in mind that everyone cheated in Glee, for no reason, they just did it because they wanted to, and afterwards they didn't even feel half as bad as Blaine did. See, I see a lot of comments like this, as if Blaine reacted this way *knowing* he was going to cheat, but that's not how it actually went! No matter what ended up happening later down the road, it's still understandable that Blaine was hurt that Kurt would rather blatantly and purposefully flirt with someone else than talk to him. Would I go so far as to actually call it *cheating* ? Nah, probably not, but it definitely was not a cool thing for Kurt to do and Kurt knew that full well. Yes, a little later down the line Blaine made a very bad and even more uncool decision to cheat, but unlike Kurt in this instance, he DID feel immediately awful about it and flew out to NY early to tell Kurt. It's not as though, after this incident, he cheated and then turned around and expected Kurt to be alright with it. No, he DID still abide by his own assertion that cheating is wrong full stop, which is why he spent weeks beating himself up after he did it and feeling like a bad person. So he's not really a hypocrite, just someone who made a very bad mistake and felt a great deal of remorse about it accordingly.
The whole thing with Chandler texting Kurt and vice-versa is emotional cheating. It is even backed up when Rachel asks Kurt if he would show the texts (from Chandler) to Blaine and he (Kurt) said "Of course not" and Rachel replies with "Than it's not all that innocent." For someone who is smart *coughs* Kurt should have told Blaine rather than Blaine finding out by going through Kurt's phone, and them getting into a whole fight. Blaine had every right to feel the way he did, although quite dramatic as the next scene goes with him singing "It's Not Right, But It's Okay." First: Kurt never even asked what Blaine what was bothering/going on wondering why Blaine was being distant with Kurt to begin with, Second: Blaine tried to communicate how he felt and Kurt got defensive about the whole thing, Third: I really do not think that Kurt hadn't fully considered what Blaine would be feeling after transferring schools, because I'm sure that Blaine would feel out-casted in the early episodes of season three not only being alienated by Finn in Glee Club as if he didn't belong, and proving that he did. Heck, Kurt didn't even talk to Finn or Blaine about it either as a brother or a boyfriend, Kurt just stood there doing nothing and letting it continue on as it escalated with Sam rejoining the club, the only thing that Blaine was doing was him trying to prove to Finn that he does belong.

"This is cheating, Kurt." Blaine tells him while holding up the phone. "This is texting." Kurt tells him. "Look, he's just a guy that I met at the music store. Nothing happened. You used to text Sebastián all the time. You would call him...." "But i didn't like him." Blaine says. "And all those texts were family friendly. You like this guy." Kurt sits on his bed and says, "I like the way he makes me feel. I mean, when was the last time you complimented me? Or told me how special I was?" "I transferred schools to be with you." It’s been a few years and this comment will probably never be seen again but just my two cents, I think Kurt cheated. It was emotional cheating, and he 100% reciprocated. I get it, a big new life in a huge city can make it pretty easy to be swept away in it all, but that doesn’t justify ignoring the supposed love of your life, your soulmate or whatever. Recap, Kurt (emotionally) cheated cuz he was insecure about his boyfriends success and didn’t want to talk to his boyfriend who was literally right there. Blaine (physically) cheated because he was feeling sad, abandoned, and alone, with absolutely no feelings involved. Only meaningless sex, which, despite many peoples beliefs, can happen. Now, the finding out. Blaine found out cuz Chandler was blowing up Kurt’s phone with flirty texts. Kurt never once told Blaine that he met Chandler, never once told Chandler he had a boyfriend, and never (on screen) rejected Chandler’s advances and just kept them hidden from Blaine. Blaine, on the other hand, flew all the way to New York, and told Kurt he cheated on him. He was upfront about it, and admitted to what he did. Finally, how each person acted in the end. Kurt says that he’s done nothing wrong, refuses to validate or even TALK about Blaine’s feelings and instead blows up at Blaine about how insecure he’s feeling because Blaine is succeeding and straight passing. Wow. Great reaction there. And then doesn’t even apologize. Blaine, on the other hand, falls into a depressive state, and feels extremely guilty. Look at the difference! One blows up at the other, never actually apologizes, and the other feels extremely guilty, becomes depressed, and is upfront and honest about it. TLDR; Blaine felt alone and ignored by Kurt so he physically cheated (no strings attached, yes that’s a thing), and FLEW TO NEW YORK to tell Kurt in person, apologized, and was in a depressive state with immediate regret at his actions. Kurt got emotionally involved with someone else, never told Blaine, and then blew up at Blaine when Blaine found out. Fun side note for the people insistent on if Kurt and Chandler counts as cheating, so does Blaine and Sebastian: First of all, Kurt knew about Blaine and Sebastian calling and texting, Blaine never hid it. For people insisting it was flirty, we literally have no clue if it was or wasn’t. Chandler talked about Kurt being attractive and having fun together in New York, the most we find out about Sebastian and Blaine’s calls/texts is that Sebastian called Blaine about getting wine out of his blazer piping. Wow, totally the same (can you hear the sarcasm through the screen?)

with all due respect, Blaine treats him badly. I don't think Kurt knew exactly what he was doing since Blaine did the exact same thing with Sebastian. I think Kurt thought it was alright and it happened all the time in relationships. Because you have to remember, Kurt's really naïve and this is literally his first relationship. Blaine gaslights him a lot and pressures him into a lot of things. Kurt most likely didn't know what he was doing. It's common in situations like these. And it makes sense. Even if the writers weren't intending to do this, it definitely came off as a really good representation of an abusive relationship. In which Blaine was the abuser. I hate how everyone is saying even though Kurt did basically cheat on Blaine it is acceptable because Blaine did it in season 4. Blaine was extremely depressed at that time and it was a long distance relationship. These cheating things happened in two different times of their lives so you can’t really compare them
For me, the biggest thing is that Blaine never tried to pretend that what he did *wasn't* hurtful to Kurt. He cheated, it was a terrible mistake, and he felt awful about it accordingly. Now obviously Kurt never physically cheated or anything, so I'm not saying he had reason to feel the same level of remorse, but the fact is he knew full well that his happily flirting with someone else was hurtful to Blaine, but he still tried to brush it off as nothing just because it wasn't *actual* full out cheating. Instead of just talking to Blaine, he went behind his back and did something hurtful, and then turned around and used the "but it's not actually cheating!" excuse to try and brush it off.
When Blaine did actually cheat, on the other hand, he fully owned up to how serious a mistake he had made, and he felt absolutely awful about it. Sure, for one split moment he might have gotten slightly defensive and talked about how Kurt had been pulling away (which wasn't unfounded, though it of course still doesn't excuse the cheating), but immediately after that he went right back to apologizing and taking full responsibility for his own actions.
So yeah, was what Kurt did as outright bad as Blaine's physically cheating? Maybe not, but it still wasn't right, and people need to stop acting like Blaine was somehow some huge hypocrite for being hurt by it just because he made a really bad mistake a little later on that he *immediately owned up to* , which is what Kurt didn't do in this scene.

e. Blaine responded: “I transferred schools to be with you! I, I changed my whole life! That doesn't make you feel loved? ”Then talk to me. Tell me that you're unhappy, but don't cheat on me.”
f. Blaine & Kurt: Sing to each other and communicate about how they feel.
g. Kurt stopped messaging and nothing more.
3a. Blaine pushed Kurt to go to New York because he was unhappy.
b. Long distant relationship: 95% of the conversation was about Kurt, Kurt did not take Blaine’s phone call/calls and when he took them he can’t really speak because he was busy with his work.
c. Blaine flirted with someone on Facebook because he could not communicate with Kurt about him as I said 95% of the conversation was about Kurt.
d. No one confronted him about the messages so Blaine cheated.
e. Blaine felt some remorse so he went to New York and it is the only way he can talk to Kurt as he was really busy so could not really speak to Blaine.
f. Kurt found out something was wrong when he sang “Teenager dreams” and confronted him.
g. Blaine defended himself by saying: “No, it... it wasn't Sebastian, but it doesn't… It didn't mean anything. It was just a hook-up, okay?” “It doesn't matter who it was with, Kurt. What matters is that I was by myself. I needed you. I needed you around, and you weren't there. And I was lonely, and I'm… I'm really sorry.”
h. Kurt responded: “You don't think that I've been lonely? You don't think that
I've had temptations? But I didn't act on it because I knew what it meant. It meant something horrible and awful and…I really am.”
I. Blaine & Kurt: Sing and break up
4. In conclusion, they both cheated (yes Kurt as well when you’re messaging another guy and hid it from your boyfriend and told him: ” "I like the way he makes me feel. I mean, when was the last time that you complimented me or told me how special I was?" is cheating) because of the lack of communication and attention from each other. The plot was recycled by the writers (like most of season 4 writing) but they made Blaine go further by making him physically cheat on Kurt. So Blaine was right to confront Kurt about it and Kurt was right for breaking up with him after that.

I think it's so funny how everyone get mad at Blaine for cheating on Kurt. Keep in mind Blaine was depressed most of that year. Also keep in mind that everyone cheated in Glee, for no reason, they just did it because they wanted to, and afterwards they didn't even feel half as bad as Blaine did. Being depressed can cause you to do things you'll eventually regret. Think about that the next time you want to get mad at Blaine and not Kurt.

See, I see a lot of comments like this, as if Blaine reacted this way *knowing* he was going to cheat, but that's not how it actually went! No matter what ended up happening later down the road, it's still understandable that Blaine was hurt that Kurt would rather blatantly and purposefully flirt with someone else than talk to him. Would I go so far as to actually call it *cheating* ? Nah, probably not, but it definitely was not a cool thing for Kurt to do and Kurt knew that full well.
Yes, a little later down the line Blaine made a very bad and even more uncool decision to cheat, but unlike Kurt in this instance, he DID feel immediately awful about it and flew out to NY early to tell Kurt. It's not as though, after this incident, he cheated and then turned around and expected Kurt to be alright with it. No, he DID still abide by his own assertion that cheating is wrong full stop, which is why he spent weeks beating himself up after he did it and feeling like a bad person. So he's not really a hypocrite, just someone who made a very bad mistake and felt a great deal of remorse about it accordingly.

The whole thing with Chandler texting Kurt and vice-versa is emotional cheating. It is even backed up when Rachel asks Kurt if he would show the texts (from Chandler) to Blaine and he (Kurt) said "Of course not" and Rachel replies with "Than it's not all that innocent." For someone who is smart *coughs* Kurt should have told Blaine rather than Blaine finding out by going through Kurt's phone, and them getting into a whole fight. Blaine had every right to feel the way he did, although quite dramatic as the next scene goes with him singing "It's Not Right, But It's Okay."
First: Kurt never even asked what Blaine what was bothering/going on wondering why Blaine was being distant with Kurt to begin with, Second: Blaine tried to communicate how he felt and Kurt got defensive about the whole thing, Third: I really do not think that Kurt hadn't fully considered what Blaine would be feeling after transferring schools, because I'm sure that Blaine would feel out-casted in the early episodes of season three not only being alienated by Finn in Glee Club as if he didn't belong, and proving that he did. Heck, Kurt didn't even talk to Finn or Blaine about it either as a brother or a boyfriend, Kurt just stood there doing nothing and letting it continue on as it escalated with Sam rejoining the club, the only thing that Blaine was doing was him trying to prove to Finn that he does belong.

It’s been a few years and this comment will probably never be seen again but just my two cents, I think Kurt cheated. It was emotional cheating, and he 100% reciprocated. He said “I like the way he makes me feel”. Now we’ve established Kurt emotionally cheating, now onto Blaine. Blaine cheats physically on Kurt. It didn’t mean anything to him. They both cheated, now let’s go behind the reasons. Kurt emotionally cheated, never told Chandler he had a boyfriend, and it was all because, essentially, he was jealous of Blaine. Simple as that, he was jealous of Blaine getting solos, jealous of Blaine succeeding. Jealous of Blaine being able to straight pass even! This all had to do with Kurt, and nothing to do with just Blaine’s actions to blame. He said he didn’t feel loved enough. Okay, then talk. Communicate. Those are the basics of a relationship no? I get that this is just a show but shhh lemme have fun-Right so we’ve established that Kurt’s issue could’ve been fixed. Could’ve been discussed with Blaine, now how about Blaine’s issue and reasoning? Blaine physically cheated and it meant nothing to him. It might mean something to you if someone physically cheats, but to Blaine it meant nothing. The reasons being that he felt alone and abandoned by his boyfriend. Now people always say “oh Blaine was such a hypocrite for telling Kurt to go to New York, and then being clingy and sad when he does go”. First of all, try having someone you love so much, that all you want is for them to succeed. For them to be happy and follow their dreams even at the cost of your own happiness. Of course Blaine will be upset. Long Distance Relationships work because the couples talk to each other! They plan dates online, talk about normal things, hell even when I’m just away from my friends at home maybe like two hours after school I can/want to talk to them on the phone for hours! Kurt was not there for Blaine, nor was he listening to Blaine, or giving him any attention. I get it, a big new life in a huge city can make it pretty easy to be swept away in it all, but that doesn’t justify ignoring the supposed love of your life, your soulmate or whatever. Recap, Kurt (emotionally) cheated cuz he was insecure about his boyfriends success and didn’t want to talk to his boyfriend who was literally right there. Blaine (physically) cheated because he was feeling sad, abandoned, and alone, with absolutely no feelings involved. Only meaningless sex, which, despite many peoples beliefs, can happen. Now, the finding out. Blaine found out cuz Chandler was blowing up Kurt’s phone with flirty texts. Kurt never once told Blaine that he met Chandler, never once told Chandler he had a boyfriend, and never (on screen) rejected Chandler’s advances and just kept them hidden from Blaine. Blaine, on the other hand, flew all the way to New York, and told Kurt he cheated on him. He was upfront about it, and admitted to what he did. Finally, how each person acted in the end. Kurt says that he’s done nothing wrong, refuses to validate or even TALK about Blaine’s feelings and instead blows up at Blaine about how insecure he’s feeling because Blaine is succeeding and straight passing. Wow. Great reaction there. And then doesn’t even apologize. Blaine, on the other hand, falls into a depressive state, and feels extremely guilty. Look at the difference! One blows up at the other, never actually apologizes, and the other feels extremely guilty, becomes depressed, and is upfront and honest about it.
TLDR; Blaine felt alone and ignored by Kurt so he physically cheated (no strings attached, yes that’s a thing), and FLEW TO NEW YORK to tell Kurt in person, apologized, and was in a depressive state with immediate regret at his actions. Kurt got emotionally involved with someone else, never told Blaine, and then blew up at Blaine when Blaine found out.
Fun side note for the people insistent on if Kurt and Chandler counts as cheating, so does Blaine and Sebastian: First of all, Kurt knew about Blaine and Sebastian calling and texting, Blaine never hid it. For people insisting it was flirty, we literally have no clue if it was or wasn’t. Chandler talked about Kurt being attractive and having fun together in New York, the most we find out about Sebastian and Blaine’s calls/texts is that Sebastian called Blaine about getting wine out of his blazer piping. Wow, totally the same (can you hear the sarcasm through the screen?)
