The schismatic Indian Orthodox faction went away from their mother church in 1912 and later in 1930 within that faction there was Mar Ivanios and a group of people who went and talked to the Roman Pope about being under his leadership. the Pope agreed they can be under the Roman Catholic church and at the same time keep the syrian prayers, hymns, vestments etc. Hence they have the same Holy Qurbono but only remember the Roman Pope in the 1st thubden.

You Have the Copts, Ethiopians, Syriac, Chaldean, Byzantine Rites, etc. Both the East Syrian and West Syrian Rites in India are part of the Catholic Church. The Orthodox Church in India is not open to reformation of faith which is why the number of Christians in Kerala who keep changing their denomination is very high in the South, traditionally areas where the East Syriac Liturgy is in use. Although the idea behind the faith is the same with similar liturgy the difference is the Nicene Creed and it is the Nicene Creed which sets the christians apart from each other. The Orthodox Church all over the world can trace their roots back to Nestorianism. hence, when the Orthodox Church recites the Nicene Creed it seems Ironic.......

My point was the present liturgy used by most of the orthodox churches, including the ones in India is based on Liturgy of Apostoles started from 'doctrine of Addai' 3rd century. This consists of 2 main parts; preparation of sacrifice & mass of the faithful. Most of the Catholic churches followed this until the 2nd vatican conference that made a simplified version and also started the priests/Bishops facing the congregation etc. But in South India, some of the so called Malankara & Syro Malabar Catholic groups still follow the Syriac in their liturgy (very similar to the orthodox old version) with very little latin. All these groups have similar faiths but have different leaderships; when they are not accepted in the Orthodox group, they go to the Catholic church but still follow their traditions. The head of the Malankara Catholic church ( now a cardinal) still uses the same head covering as any Bishops in Orthodox tradition. He is the only cardinal uses this. The Nestorian churches uses the 'Syriac liturgy' although John Nestorius did not speak Syriac and he was not a Assyrian. It is the leaderships that divides these churches and not their faiths or beliefs; very little difference in the nature of Son of God (whether both divine & human or not etc.). I hope that they will all stop fighting each other for leadership and fooling the faith followers.
Jijo Alex Kakkatiu maybe you should do some reasearch. The churches differ not in the nicea creed but in the chalcedon council. The nicea creed is accepted by all the churches. The oriental orthodox churches have firmly rejected Nestorianism all throughout from the beginning itself. If you have any doubt you can search wikipedia . You also said that tge churches have similar liturgy, wrong because we follow till today the liturgy prepared by St. James the brother of jesus whereas the catholic churches have different liturgy.The major schism which caused the splitting of the churches is none other than the tome of Leo . The tome of Leo is now considered wrong even by the fathers of the Catholic church even though it was one the main reasons for the split. Catholic and Syrian orthodox church have now come to terms with each other due the efforts of Pope John Paul the second and Patriarch Ignatius Zakka the first and are in full communion with each other as the Roman Catholic church has accepted that the schism in the church was the result of the struggle for power . So by comparing the orthodox church with Nestorianism you are talking against the conclusions and agreements made by the catholic church itself. If you don't know the correct full information regarding church history please don't share it. It's sinful to criticise the most ancient and true holy apostolic Church of Antioch.
The Malankara Catholic group is the only Catholic church which still use the same liturgy as the Syrian Orthodox church. Look at the procession of cardinals in front of Pope; the only cardinal with a different head wear or cap is the Malankara Catholicose. Yes, the oldest church in the world is the one build by Peter & Paul in Antioch.. Pope has allowed this Catholicose to follow the same customs of the church they had split off, just for leadership. @Ch2149 not true Baselios Geevarghese had asked Mar Ivanios to ask Rome for the reunion between the 2 churches. Baselios Geevarghese treated this as a plan B in case the Vattipanam would have not been in his favor. However, the Vattipanam was in favor of the Metran Kashi's and therefore most Malankara Orthodox bishops opted to stay independent. Mar Ivanios and Mar Theopholois however, wanted stay clear from the fights that had been occurring between the 2 factions and decided to join the Catholic church. What's selfish in this? And what is selfish is stealing churches from the Jacobites so you can all the wealth produced by them and use them. (Proof: taking over Piravom, Kollenchery, and Kothamangalam churches, all churches that many institutions are under and produce crores of rupees.)

Thirumeni's qurbana is very blessings. But one question which is in 1st Dubden how you guys reading the name of pop of Vatican City ? This is not Latin qurbana. This is Syriac liturgy. There for you should remember Patriarch of Damascus, Syria.

Tomson Chacko remember how Malankara Catholic church was formed?? The schismatic Indian Orthodox faction went away from their mother church in 1912 and later in 1930 within that faction there was Mar Ivanios and a group of people who went and talked to the Roman Pope about being under his leadership. the Pope agreed they can be under the Roman Catholic church and at the same time keep the syrian prayers, hymns, vestments etc. Hence they have the same Holy Qurbono but only remember the Roman Pope in the 1st thubden.
Tomson Chacko : thanks for watching and also for the comments. Catholic church has more than two dozen different rites. In Kerala itself, we have two: Syro Malankara and Syro Malabar. Pope is our worldly holy father. But, Jesus Christ is our ultimate father like your church.

This so called Catholic church is still using the same service as the Syrian Malankara Orthodox church word by word. The only thing is that they have taken Pope as the head of their church. So in belief & faith, they are all the same.
+George Cherian - The Malankara Catholic Church is not the only Eastern Church which has successfully amalgamated into the Catholic Church. You Have the Copts, Ethiopians, Syriac, Chaldean, Byzantine Rites, etc. Both the East Syrian and West Syrian Rites in India are part of the Catholic Church. The Orthodox Church in India is not open to reformation of faith which is why the number of Christians in Kerala who keep changing their denomination is very high in the South, traditionally areas where the East Syriac Liturgy is in use. Although the idea behind the faith is the same with similar liturgy the difference is the Nicene Creed and it is the Nicene Creed which sets the christians apart from each other. The Orthodox Church all over the world can trace their roots back to Nestorianism. hence, when the Orthodox Church recites the Nicene Creed it seems Ironic.......

My point was the present liturgy used by most of the orthodox churches, including the ones in India is based on Liturgy of Apostoles started from 'doctrine of Addai' 3rd century. This consists of 2 main parts; preparation of sacrifice & mass of the faithful. Most of the Catholic churches followed this until the 2nd vatican conference that made a simplified version and also started the priests/Bishops facing the congregation etc. But in South India, some of the so called Malankara & Syro Malabar Catholic groups still follow the Syriac in their liturgy (very similar to the orthodox old version) with very little latin. All these groups have similar faiths but have different leaderships; when they are not accepted in the Orthodox group, they go to the Catholic church but still follow their traditions. The head of the Malankara Catholic church ( now a cardinal) still uses the same head covering as any Bishops in Orthodox tradition. He is the only cardinal uses this.
The Nestorian churches uses the 'Syriac liturgy' although John Nestorius did not speak Syriac and he was not a Assyrian. It is the leaderships that divides these churches and not their faiths or beliefs; very little difference in the nature of Son of God (whether both divine & human or not etc.). I hope that they will all stop fighting each other for leadership and fooling the faith followers.
Jijo Alex Kakkatiu maybe you should do some reasearch. The churches differ not in the nicea creed but in the chalcedon council. The nicea creed is accepted by all the churches. The oriental orthodox churches have firmly rejected Nestorianism all throughout from the beginning itself. If you have any doubt you can search wikipedia . You also said that tge churches have similar liturgy, wrong because we follow till today the liturgy prepared by St. James the brother of jesus whereas the catholic churches have different liturgy.The major schism which caused the splitting of the churches is none other than the tome of Leo . The tome of Leo is now considered wrong even by the fathers of the Catholic church even though it was one the main reasons for the split. Catholic and Syrian orthodox church have now come to terms with each other due the efforts of Pope John Paul the second and Patriarch Ignatius Zakka the first and are in full communion with each other as the Roman Catholic church has accepted that the schism in the church was the result of the struggle for power . So by comparing the orthodox church with Nestorianism you are talking against the conclusions and agreements made by the catholic church itself. If you don't know the correct full information regarding church history please don't share it. It's sinful to criticise the most ancient and true holy apostolic Church of Antioch.
The Malankara Catholic group is the only Catholic church which still use the same liturgy as the Syrian Orthodox church. Look at the procession of cardinals in front of Pope; the only cardinal with a different head wear or cap is the Malankara Catholicose. Yes, the oldest church in the world is the one build by Peter & Paul in Antioch.. Pope has allowed this Catholicose to follow the same customs of the church they had split off, just for leadership. Nothing more.

BUT DUE TO SPREAD OF ISLAM AND COMPULSORY OR FORCED CONVERSION AND PERSECUTION CHRISTIANS IN MIDDLE EST SLOWLY MUCH REDUCED AND IN SOME COUNTRIES TOTALLY DISAPPEARED ONCE THE ASSYRIAN CHURCH WAS BIGGER THAN ROMAN CATHOLIC RITE (LATIN RITE) .BUT STILL THERE ARE FEW EASTERN/ORIENTAL CHRISTIAN IN IRAQ SYRIA IRAN , KERALA AND DIASPORA IN AMERICA AUSTRALIA AND EUROPE . A GARDEN IS BEAUTIFUL WHEN THERE ARE DIFFERENT TREES AND FLOWERS . ALL 23 RITES ARE PART OF CATHOLIC CHURCH. THIS LITURGY IS THE ANTIOCH LITURGY IE IN WEST SYRIAC LANGUAGE WHICH IS DIALECT OF ARAMAIC LANGUAGE WHICH WAS SPOKEN BY JESUS CHRIST AN HIS DISCIPLES .THE ANA-FORA (MAIN PART OF THE HOLY MASS) WAS WRITTEN BY ST JAMES WHO WAS DISCIPLE OF JESUS AND FIRST BISHOP OF JERUSALEM. @Ch2149 not true Baselios Geevarghese had asked Mar Ivanios to ask Rome for the reunion between the 2 churches. Baselios Geevarghese treated this as a plan B in case the Vattipanam would have not been in his favor. However, the Vattipanam was in favor of the Metran Kashi's and therefore most Malankara Orthodox bishops opted to stay independent. Mar Ivanios and Mar Theopholois however, wanted stay clear from the fights that had been occurring between the 2 factions and decided to join the Catholic church. What's selfish in this? And what is selfish is stealing churches from the Jacobites so you can all the wealth produced by them and use them. (Proof: taking over Piravom, Kollenchery, and Kothamangalam churches, all churches that many institutions are under and produce crores of rupees.)
