Speaking of honking at random people. I used to have a truck that would honk when making a right turn, so when it did we would just wave at whoever was around like we knew them.

Colt's lack of wing extensions sure shows at the end of the video. @14:42 where the other vehicles are just a wee bit muddy, but Colt's vehicle is caked with mud.
That wasn't a snowball Robby was holding . It was an ICE ball, the kind we hurled at each other 60 years ago in grade school. (they made such a cool sound on impact) The shot of the lineup on the road was cool ! Always awesome seeing Colt along with the gang.

I went up that canyon last week. I started sliding down the hill backwards in my Jeep. I managed to keep it on the road and backed out a mile or two before I could turn around.

I have the Zforce 800,and I love it!!!! I just would like to live somewhere closer to any trails. The closest ones to me are 2 hours away,and the best are 6 to 9 hours away.

Snow recoveries are difficult but the extra help made that go easy.
Every channel I watch should have a COLT in it !! (He DOES show up in quite a few of them) And I LOVE it !!

Thanks for the video , i was searching for more ideas on converting a topkick into a pickup,and found your video. I have a 1990 that I purchased and shortened the frame. I am in the process of mounting the bed and trying to figure out how to finish the end of the frame at the tailgate.

Robby Please use your scotch blocks If you use them right they can make your tow truck and exceptional achor. Set the chains on them so that your duals back 3/4 the way to all the way up the wedge of the blocks before the the chains pull the axle and bed of the tow vehicle down tight ontothwe blocksthe will just dig deeper the harder you pull with the cable they work on asphalt, sand, dirt, mud, any suface short of granite. You can retrieve any thing you winch and cable can stand. work with it a little and it will pay lyou back Many times over.

Great recovery, no drama at all. It was good to see the Boss smiling after looking annoyed at the trailhead.
Your radios should be installed PERMANENTLY in your riggs with good antennas so the range is well enough to reach someone with cellphone coverage to get help. That's point of usage radios. Communicators are good for short distances like just for recovery, radios for both.

You should always pull with the boom down. It can tear the boom off the truck when it is up. I found out the hard way.

7:35 not a 'pre trip procedure'... it's called a 'preflight checklist'. A laminated card with items listed, accompanied with the correct answer for each
I.E.
- Lights. - Verified Operational
- Hydraulics - Checked and set
- 30' Yankum Rope. - Present
- 6 long soft shackles. - Counted & present
- 4 radios. - Counted/ present & and Op checked
...and so on. Checklist can be tailored to a specific vehicle. Laminating makes sure they last a while.
In the world of Wildland Firefighting it is known as a "Go, No Go Checklist".
