Amazing work and clearly explained so even someone like me could easily follow what was going on. I will always continue to be impressed by the jobs you do.
Where did you get the schematics? I have a UMK3 board where LP doesn't seem to work on Player 1, I wanted to do some basic checks, however I have not been able to find a schematic online. The Operating Manual only has a basic wiring diagram, not the full schematics that you show around 4:00 in this video.
Hey Mike, saw a video of yours where you recommend a certain brand of of JAMMA due to its higher quality level, aka. Separate 18 gauge wires for multi +5 volt lines instead of the cheap Chinese JAMMA that shares one connector and splicing with crappy small 22 gauge. Who did you recommend to purchase from again? Was it Twisted Quarter? Thanks Mike 🤟🏼
Hi Mike revisiting some old repair videos, mate quick question with regards to the temperature of the rework gun when you remove u91? and do you use this method with larger ic's like 68k cpu's etc, no flux just heat? Cheers Franky
Greetings Franky. I run my gear at 800F. And yes, no flux. Just heat. There’s plenty of flux in the solder. Not really necessary (in my opinion) when removing chips. Now when installing chips, flux is very necessary.
Hi! I need your help and advice, I have wolf unit pcb and don’t have two fuses near L78 L78, is ok, but I don’t have two same elements near jamma connector. Could you tell me how I can find replacements for this elements, because I don’t have schematics
Man you have helped me so much repairing my boards! I’d love to send you one of our cases free if charge if you want. We’re almost done with our cab mounts as well
Regarding the braid, any tips on that? What brand and type to use, if soldering tip important etc? Never been able to properly use a braid to do something like this.
This is the braid I use. Needs to have flux in it. That could be part of your problem. As for the tip, it needs to be at least as big as the hole you’re trying to extract solder from. Bigger the tip, the more heat can be transferred. Set you iron to around 750f and you should have no problem.
I hadn't realised that schematics had become available for the Wolf Unit pcbs? Do you know where I can get hold of them? I've been attempting to repair a UMK3 pcb myself for a while, following traces all over the board and its a nightmare.
Have you ever had an issue with a mortal kombat 1 soundboard causing random sounds to play in the wrong areas during gameplay? For example, I heard a character screaming like they were falling in the pit even though I wasn't on that stage.
Nice work I have a KI board that the sound keeps goin in and out , I’m sure you can fix it but no way contacting you ,you tube doesn’t give me that option
I don’t work on KI boards unfortunately. There is no technical data released for them. First thing I’d do is replace the filter capacitor. It’s most likely failing or it could be simply bad connections on the sound roms.
I was wondering the other day where you were, glad to see you still make videos!
Yeah, been busy with running my arcade and fixing monitors for people. The last few years have been pretty busy. Thanks for watching!

Are you still taking in boards for repair? My MK4 board has this no blue issue. Wondering how I can contact you for repair option ? Thank you.
Flippin awesome repair sir. Masterful !

@@YourMKArcadeSource Thanks Mike appreciate the help so just to confirm 800f on iron and desoldering gun? Noted on the flux also.
I got the same problem but no red. Do you think it's the same chip? Many Thanks
Yup. Most likely. Testing the pins to ground will tell you. The only pin that should test to ground is pin 7. If any others test to ground, it’s bad.

Gold this videos 👍
I have a umk3 board I am looking to repair. Do you have a recommendation on hot air temps in order to remove the vram chips (e.g., u15)?

Yes. Reseat the roms and your ribbon cable, or the ribbon cable could be on backwards at one end.
