I adore mushrooms and I’ve been on the edge on whether I should grow mushrooms or not, your videos have given me the confidence and courage to give it a try. Thank you, and keep doing what you’re doing!
it's a massive science experiment that is relatively easy. if you have the interest in it go for it! if you make a mistake learn from it and keep going!
I've got the same exact set up and had to throw 4 bags away so far. Seems like cobweb mold LOVES these stagnant airtight warm spaces. I'd recommend drilling air vents for exchange
Great stuff man. Im just getting into it myself & dont got a ton of room so this is perfect. Not many youtubers r posting many vids nowadays so keep em comin! Thanks
Your videos are super helpful and have got me started. I've gotten several successful harvest. I was looking into the incubation chamber and have all to get mine going. Do you give the chamber any fresh air or is it completely closed? Thanks again
Good day! I appreciate the information provided. I immediately went to the store and purchased a black Tupperware container and a wire rack. This setup is quite similar to the one you demonstrated in your video last night. Previously, I had been using a cardboard box with the warmer mat placed inside without the wire rack, which resulted in inadequate heat retention. I am hopeful that this new setup will yield better results. Thank you for sharing your expertise.
As far as I’m aware it does not need fresh air exchange. Mushrooms benefit from high co2 levels during colonization. I have not ran into any issues yet however I do open the lid every now and then!
@@stlknowswhy yessir I’m sure you will find more success with keeping the ambient temperature stable that way. If you still run into trouble with stable temperatures throw a blanket over the bin. I found that works perfectly!
Nice setup! I have the same heat mat and hygrometer. I opted for the tent because I'm thin, and able to walk into it to work. Also, I don't need a SAB. 😁
There are no dumb questions :) only dumb answers ! As far as seed heating mats go I don’t believe there are any that cool as well, as awesome as that would be I have yet to find any and if you do find one that cools let me know asap!! Even if you turned the temperature on the heating mat to like 70 degrees it will still produce heat, if it is say 80 degrees in your apartment it just won’t turn on at all if it’s set to 70 degrees. Hope this helped :)
And you would be 100% correct. The light is by no means necessary. Mushroom do not photsynthesize in the same way that plants do and in turn do not need light to grow. Just nutrients, water, and fresh air. Although having a light can assist in giving the mushrooms a direction to grow in which in turn can result in more even canopies and a more natural shape.
@@elijahwilliams5410 I usually keep it on for about the time of normal daylight. So around 8-12 hours and turn it off at night. Just remember that it is not necessary for mushrooms :)
That spots fine. He has it set at the bottom of his temp range, worst case scenario he's hitting 80deg at the bottom and 78 near the thermometer, perfectly fine
Honestly a good question and something I should maybe do some testing with. My thought process is that the bin is not air tight as it is and drilling a hole for fresh air would make it harder to maintain a constant temperature. I do check on my bags pretty often when colonizing so opening the bin every other few days I feel like is more than enough fresh air being exchanged. Especially considering colonization benefits from high c02 levels.
The monotubs in this video were from max yield bin. I highly recommend microppose bins over max yield these days though as max yield is wayyy overpriced on an already overpriced market. Microppose has the same quality if not better with better features and a more competitive price as well as different sizes. If you use the link in the description you get 10% off your order and help out my channel by doing so
@kevinsmith9190 that’s sweet! One tip I have is that if your bin isn’t holding heat or the heating mat is on constantly put a blanket over the top of it and cover the sides. It helps to hold the heat in :)
@@GoombaGrows is a dedicated tote more efficient, ya think? Less holes and keeps more heat in? I'm new to this stuff. The heat pad won't melt my tote/monotub will it? Should I put something non flammable in the bottom of the tub before I place the riser for the grain?
I knew to all this.I was wondering about ventilation. I had read several articles online. That ventilation was also needed during incubation. Any help on that would be appreciated. Thank you
It is needed, just make sure your air filter on your spawn bag isn't covered up by the other side of the bag, pull the bag a little to give it breathing room. It doesn't need a ton of air, it will pull the air it needs in. The tub he's using isn't air tight so air can get in, but you could drill a small hole or two if you were worried about it
I did not drill the holes, I just spent extra to buy a bin that’s fully ready to grow in. You can very easily buy a bin like the one shown here and drill your own holes to save money :)
@@GoombaGrows thanks for reply.. I was just curious, I am completely new to this and been reading some books on mycology and using the grow bags as I see you use as well and it was my understanding from reading that even while incubating the grow bag needs to be able to breath enough not to create any molding issues and didn't see any ventilation in tbe tub so just thought I'd ask if you ran into that yet.

What about the humidity does that matter? I ordered a light and the seed heater. I'm gonna grow in my closet will that be ok ?
Dope vid bro
Thank you for watching!!
Temperature for manure loving shrooms. For incubation period is? I just injected 3 all in one bags. Wish me luck. Thanks.
Best of luck is wished! It does vary between strains / species for colonizing temperatures however I found 75-80f is best!
might be a dumb question... but if it's hot in my apartment, will that mat keep it cooler inside the container?

how do you keep the monotubs at ideal temperature when fruiting?
Just a thought: would a styrofoam box work in place of plastic? More consistent temp. by being insulated?
I don’t see why not so long as it is heat resistant for the seed mat :)
keep it up!

Can you do this this process inside a monotub with the top on it instead of having a tote?
