@@nuxxism Eeeehhhh.....as much as I adore Gamers! I can hardly defend ANY of the negative points about it. I think the source material is a good bit better, but also more of the same. Barely counts as a romance.
I don't like Slice of life anime but I really enjoyed this one, I hate strories that don't progress so I liked this one
Believe it or not, that's actually the excuse many people gave on why they *don't* like Horimiya. They claim it "got boring" after Miyamura and Hori got together. Like, if you complain about romance anime being the same, and then you don't like one that *isn't* the same, stop complaining and watch your samey romance anime.
one of the better written romance anime's. It has good comedy but is also able to make things feel very genuine and realistic. Blew me away when I first saw it.
I hoped this wouldn't be another trainwreck romance series like Gamers... I wasn't disappointed.
I think this show is lowkey slept on. For romcom anime, this is sitting very high. Not many anime have such supporting cast development.

I read and watched this for the first time last month so mad the anime missed some scenes.
14:30 When they all all their desks up to Miyamura's as if it's the most natural thing right after he's fretting is such an understated powerful and emotional moment. Brings the tears every time
Rushed ending aside, Horimiya is an AMAZING adaptation of the amazing manga it was. I cant wait for Horimiya Piece to be out that can potentially patch up the holes this otherwise perfect anime has.
Some would argue that the rushed pace actually did it some good, what with the manga taking forever at some points (though that's mostly after they start dating). On the other hand the anime skips a lot of interactions between characters that are just brilliant and I'm a bit dissapointed they were skipped over.
@@Dadan-dan is it just me or was it never properly touched upon who the little girl was in Hori's house near the end?
@@krasherom I... don't really remember if it was mentioned in the anime. In the manga she is presented as Souta's, the little brother, new friend from elementary school. I always remember this one scene where he tells her the reason he stay out late playing (besides wanting to stay out playing) is because he wants to give the MCs some space for themselves.
@@krasherom i think Shouta mentions her a few times when going out but we didn't saw her in person before that ending shot I'm guessing its a moment the animators included to give the character a cameo as they didn't include her in the animation itself gives all the more reason to people that have watched the anime and didn't read the manga to check it out if they want to read more moments that where left out of the adaptation
i was always really confused with the timeline of horimiya especially after the second season aired
19:44 is one of my all time favorite moments in anime. Her freaking out over realizing that most people would expect her to freak out and she didn't. She is more concerned about how people would expect her to act than about how she actually acted.
Horimiya is an anime ive seen once, and yet it stands as an easy top 3 anime I've ever seen and a comfort anime I'd eagerly watch again if I had the time.
Everything is organic, real and satisfying, and I adore it
The thing I love about Japanese culture and their anime is that their names are significant in many ways. Eg, 48:30 Yuki is her name and it also means snow in Japanese. There are so many deeper meanings when she said nobody wants it to snow, she's literally putting herself in that context of the love triangle. The other girl's name is Sakura which is also the flowers of the cherry blossom (aka Sakura) that normally bloom after winter. This reference was also present when they both made cookies, especially the flavours.
How yuki mentioned the muddy snow being ugly and how everyone wanted it to disappear really hurt. I'm glad she had a satisfying ending.
Horimiya is stil to this day, my absolute top romance anime. I´ve seen it like 5 times already and twice was in eng dub, since its really good imo. Probably as good as My dress up Darling eng dub was.
I honestly really enjoyed the dub they sounded like actually people my dress up darling and love is war both dubs are fantastic I swear the dubs for romance and comedy’s be so good

Tbh this is kinda off topic but I keep forgetting Shindo has a girlfriend because he's gotta be the most homiesexual character in the entire anime
i think another win in my book is the fact that both Subbed and Dubbed VAs are incredible. like, not just good or alright, but INCREDIBLE.
its one of the few shows that i dont actually mind watching either version in
Honestly, this is one of, if not my most favorite Anime of all time. Its just so good that, every time I decide to rewatch it, I would binge watch it withing 2 days.
Also, the English Dub is nearly as spot on as the Japanese original. This is art and it needs to be protected!
I loved this anime but haven't been able to get any of my friends to give it a shot so listening to how much you enjoyed this anime makes me absurdly happy, thanks for making these awesome videos
My 15 yr old daughtet was shocked ibe watched this anime. Im 51 and i thought this was the second best romance anime i eber watched. Only Bunny girl sempai beats it.
This is by far my favorite romance anime. Its the best example of what a studio can do with creative freedom and a solid budget. Its a pure diamond in the rough when compared to other romance anime and anime in general. Its the show that brings about so many complex emotions and the fluidity of the storyline and the believability of it makes me yearn for more shows like it. Its, in my opinion, a masterpiece in its own right.
One of the most well writen love story in anime, Horimiya is such a masterpiece in my opinon only Kaguya, Oregairu or Insomniacs After School are on this level for real. I feel blessed to see this anime that I love so much being reviewed, even if it skipped a lot from the manga it doesn't feel it's missing, everything is flawless, but I'm still very hyped to see the new adaptation and to read the manga (alrdy bought the 1st 10 volumes + the graduation artbook (THEY ARE SO CUTE *inserts Marin Kitagawa reaction*)).
Quick personal shout-out to the English Dub of this show. I've been watching it lately and HOLY SHIT ITS AMAZING!

The feels you get in this anime are same no matter how old (50) you are… the right story with the right characters can make you feel like it was yesterday!!
This is probably my favourite romance anime cause it feels kinda real compared to a lot of other ones.
Also a second season i think is gonna come out that's about other stuff we didn't see in the anime so far
Doing the scenes in the way they do is very unique and make a feeling that makes you just want to keep watching these moments unfold
It doesn't go overboard and so you dont feel like any of its forced
Horimiya was one of my first romcoms and is the one that really got me into the genre, even after watching countless other since then it still remains one of my favorites.
this is one of my comfort mangas...super wholesome and light on the mind
I need to go back and rewatch this. It's been so long and my god still in the top 5 for me for sure.

If someone asked me why I wouldn't be able to tell them why, but this anime simply became one of my favourites I still remember just dumb smiling while watching it. Sooo glad you made a video on it

They claim it got "boring" after Episode 3 because the romance *actually developed.* What's so bad about *not* revolving the anime around one thing for the entire run?? I loved watching Horimiya, and I'll gladly watch it again, it's such a good show, in my opinion :D
i just wanna point out how miyamura says "a wild Shindo appears" and in eng dub Alejandro voices miyamura and leon in pokemon so i find it more funny for some reason
What I love about Horimiya is the almost complete lack of the typical drama. No will they, won’t they, anguished confessions or misunderstandings, none of the manufactured arguments that make you rip your hair out, it’s such a refreshing change up to so many other romances I’ve had to sit through and it’s still as funny as something like Ouran!
Horimiya was the one that got me somewhat into romance anime. the story, the characters, the setting, it was all done to perfection. I just loved the way everything and everyone worked so well together.
Also can you please cover Redline it's one of the best animated anime movies of all time and seriously underrated. Please and love your videos. Cheers mate!
Horimiya gotta be one of the best written Slice of Life romances that I had pleasure to watch/read. I know a fair number of manga readers didnt like that anime skipped a lot of content and opted to wrap up the story in 13 episodes but I personally think it was a good choice. First half of the season is mainly Hori & Miyamura getting together and becoming a real couple, after that the story becomes more of a Slice of Life showing their school life with some character arcs sprinkled in. I always felt like this change in the story would be too big for 1 cour anime and would turn some people off it. Anime managed to adapt some important story beats and wrap the story up in the same way manga did without making it feel rushed.
With that in mind, Horimiya Anime is returning next season with Horimiya: Piece that will adapt skipped content. So those who really enjoyed these amazing characters can look forward to spending more time with them during this summer! I'm 100% gonna recommend it on Patreon once it wraps up!

I came back and rewatch your video, because Horimiya is probably my favorite romance anime. Something about it just resonates with me so much. I do wish they had made it longer instead of having a season 2 with out of context stories that were cut for time in season 1. As always you do such great work with these videos.

As someone who reads lots of romantic manga this is by far one of the best I have ever read. The anime did an excellent job of trimming the story and still making it feel just as good.
With Season 2 underway, I'd love for you to review The Ancient Magus Bride. On of the most touching slow burn romance anime, with amazing visuals and worldbuilding. It's like an anime beauty and the beast, highly recommend.

Just started this vid I'm going to love him mentioning all the little details I noticed as well 😊
When I watched the 1st season in 2021, I fell in love with all the characters and the story, so I started reading the manga. After reading the manga I decided to rewatch the anime and then I realized I had gotten fixated on the anime lol. Last year when season 2 was announced I freaked out, I was so happy. I didn't expect it, even though I knew there was so much more content in the manga! Since then I've rewatched the anime maybe a dozen times and also reread the manga a couple times, but for the manga I mainly go back to my favorite chapters. Long story short, I love Horimiya dearly. :D
That scene with Toru crying hits so hard in both the anime and manga😭
My favourite moment in Horimiya is when Miyamura said ''its egg time!'' and proceeded to buy eggs
