Keep in mind “senior developer” isn’t very senior at most companies. It’s more like very advanced junior developer. Senior staff engineer is on a completely different level.
Hey Chris, as a side note for chat GPT, yeah it won't take our jobs. I actually have to correct it from time to time, and I'm still a Junior Dev. The only way that chat GPT can give you precise code snippets is if you write pretty much a paragraph of what you're attempting to do, and even with that it's not 100% correct, it's like about 70% accurate. It's basically just a decent boilerplate if you're trying to write a function, which you can probably just write faster yourself. lol.
I sometimes play with the thought of writing a CV. It's exhausting just trying to think of all the skills one acquires over the years, and deciding which to include. I think I've forgotten more than I remember simply because of stuff that dies. And then there's stuff I've touched but only occasionally use.
This sh*t is hard software dev. So much to learn, lots of abstractions. Debugging is always crazy hard. They promote it big way, but people will run into a major impostor will.

Typically a true senior developer has started a company or otherwise does their own thing and makes a lot more than a salary will pay
@@Savvynomad225 That’s called being an entrepreneur who may or may not also be a developer.
