    Kentucky blue Grass yard clippings, just add water and stir once or twice a day in a 55 gallon drum:
    Fresh grass clippings are high in nitrogen and potassium. Gather up your clippings next time you mow the lawn, fill a bucket 2/3 full of them, add water and steep 3 days, stirring daily. Fertilizer teas are fast-acting and free. Apply them no more than every two weeks or when your plants need a boost.

      These large combines take in so much product that fair wear and tear is expected. Combines ten years ago could not do in a week what these giants do in a day with ease. It is what it is but at 800,000 imagine what they would cost if built out of titanium. Plus hoppers of my era were 80 bushel times ie.. 60 pounds is 4800 pounds combine is carrying when full of product. Add in a increase of 50 gallon fuel tank to 500 gallons on some. Now hoppers are close to 600 bushel times 60 equals 36,000 pounds in literally half a mile over ground that can be really hard, soft, unseen holes and or extremely uneven ground. Weighing 60,000 pounds empty plus the hopper load. Yeah extremely punishing to ground and equipment. Edit… and pocket book….

    • @bstives58
      @bstives58 2 года назад +5

      The thing you’re missing is that equipment today has much much tighter tolerances than it used to. By making them more efficient and less wasteful, they had to make them more precise, and because of that there’s more fatigue.

    • @cayde7469
      @cayde7469 2 года назад +3

      It’s not necessarily that they didn’t design the part correctly it’s more that particles like corn and peas moving across a piece of metal are very abrasive. They could harden the steel but that typically makes it brittle which would almost be worse.

    We agree that all combines wear out or have break downs because of the large volumes of grain they handle compared to years ago. But it is true also that some manufacturers build machines that have fewer moving parts and are easier to work on.

    • @joegotz1971
      @joegotz1971 2 года назад

      I am not 100% positive on my observations. the Fendt combines have too many moving parts. And although i like the dual rotor concept why have 2 when 1 will do the job. I have not run a combine in quite some time but when I did the Case IH was the way to go. As we would say, when they are new thy are all good, it’s reliability and maintenance and availability of PARTS!

    I read a whole piece on Facebook the other day about how to fix the soybean chaff problem out of the back of that machine. It sounds like it’s a common issue for the flagships not to spread it the greatest but there are some ways to make it a lot better. I can’t really explain it the best but it was on case IH combine group, if you ever felt like looking into it.
