Just letting you know you're still helping folks in 2024. My 03 ZZR600 needed a desperate carb cleaning and I followed your videos. Awesome work all around!
Same here, it helped a lot. Bike is running great now. By any chance does anybody know why my gas gauge wont work. The gauge itself is fine i tested it, but its always pegged on E.
Awesome! I am glad it helped you out! As for the gas gauge a few things are coming to mind 1) The float inside it has become full of fuel and therefore it stays down when you fill up the tank 2) there could be an issue with the gauge itself or 3) there is a connection issue between the fuel level and the gauge itself. I have found that if the connector that attaches to the fuel level has been taken off/on several times then it expands out and doesn't give a good connection onto the terminal, just grab some needle nose players and give it a small squeeze to make it narrow down a bit and then reconnect it. You can also try taking a 220 grit (or higher) sand paper piece and sand down the terminal and the inside of the connector if they are dirty, have rust on them, etc. I hope that helps!
@@TBKHomeworld yes thank you! I just checked it out this morning, used a magnet to pull the float and the needle started going to full. I guess the float was stuck or something cause now its floating properly. The bike was sitting for 3 years before i bought it, atleast it was sitting indoors. Thanks for your input!
So I'm having some idle and low rpm issues with my 1997 zzr600. Seems to just wanna cut-out when I give it throttle until after maybe 4-5k rpm then might boggle a little but runs pretty good. Gonna replace sparks and inspect the caps and coils and maybe give the carbs a clean although I already cleaned out the pilot jets but the issue remains. Spoke to a guy at kawasaki that told me change spark plugs and check float level and needles for a start so I'm hoping that fixes it and it runs good again. Also bought a new fuel filter so I'm happy it's a simple process to change it 👍👍 good video
That sounds like the best place to start. You might also inspect to ensure that your air box is all sealed up properly, it's crazy how odd the bike acts when things are 100%. Good luck and I hope the fix is easy. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Hi, thank you for your excellent detailed videos on the zzr 600 series as their not the easiest bike's to work on.these videos give me the confidence to attempt the job myself.cheers Neil
Sorry to be off topic but does anyone know of a trick to get back into an instagram account?? I stupidly forgot my login password. I would love any help you can give me.
@Braylen Mateo I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff now. I see it takes quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Could you post a picture of the correct way to hook all three fuel lines up to the petcock and where they go? Just bought a 1994 zx600e and can’t figure out the fuel lines
Hi great videos so helpful and clear. I am putting a new fuel filter in my zzr at the minute and the arrow on it should point towards the pump. The fuel pipe comes from the tank through the filter into the pump then is pumped into the carbs isn't that correct?
Yes, so it is absolutely right. Not like it is shown here in this video. Sorry that is the wrong way her like it is shown. I am working in a Kawasaki Shop, and it is always that the the arrow ha sto be in the direction to the pump when the gas comes from the tank.
It has been a couple of years since you posted this so not expecting a reply haha. I have a 08 zzr600 and while i was riding on the highway once i ran out of gas. Petcock was on the “on” position. I pulled over on the shoulder in time and changed it to the “RES” position. The motorcycle, however, would not turn on at all. Well at least now i know i get 160 miles a tank lol! What would cause this to happen?
The tank has two different filters for it, one is for the primary or 'on' feed and the other one is the secondary or 'res' feed. There is a good chance that either the filter and/or tube inside the tank is clogged. Also, keep in mind that if you run the bike out of fuel it will take a bit to re-fill the carb bowls and actually fuel the motorcycle so it will run. If you have a weak fuel pump the it will take even longer. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I used to shop at Bike Bandit for these parts but they are now closed. These parts can be purchased most anyplace including online retailers like ebay. Personally I like to find shops online that spend the time to have the drawings and I can locate the specific part I need through those drawings. Thanks for watching and commenting, good luck on your rebuild!
Hi Neil, I came across this video of yours after deciding to do the same job on my 97 model. I see you managed to get new replacements of the internal filters. Unfortunately I can not for the life of me find any for sale anywhere. Do you know what they're called exactly? As all results I find are for the inline fuel filter, other fuel system parts, but nothing comes up for the filters inside the tank. Worst thing is, I already crimped them off!!!
I'm not sure if you meant me or Neil. For my 2004 ZX-600E I used the part numbers 49019-1070 (called 'filter-fuel') and 49019-1071 (called 'filter-fuel On'). I purchase parts from both BikeBandit.com and KawasakiPartsHouse.com. You need to use a website that allows you to enter your exact motorcycle, go to the fuel/tank area, and locate the parts you need.
@ FrvzzyDee That is great idea! Next time I do an oil change on it I will record the process and do a similar video. Thanks for the idea and watching my videos.

Nice! That was a quick fix. If it continues to have the problem then you might need to pull it out and clean off the old varnish on the pivot point.
Watched the whole series, enjoyable and informative 👍👍
Thank you for the very kind words, I am thankful that you enjoyed it!
Wow that is crazy ... I removed the tank on my 94' and the lower hose was so brittle it split in the exact same place 😮
As these hoses get older they become insanely brittle. My replacements are still doing great though!
Thanks for watching and commenting.

Awesome video thank you sir
Glad you liked it! Thank you for watching and commenting.
Thanks for the vid, i was struggling with removing the fuel tank, manual wasn't very helpful with this part.
Thank you for watching and the response, glad to know the video came in handy!
Hello from Russia,good job!
Hello from Texas and thanks!!

This video goes over it in pretty good detail with the proper re-assembly of hoses towards the end of the video, around the 21:30 mark.

@sweettothebeatmate you are correct on the fuel pathway. Thanks for watching and the question!

Wow, it's crazy that the fuel filter was in there backward all this time!
Agreed, it really did make me 'lol'.
Like it is shown here in this video it is wrong. It has to be like it was with that old filter. The arrow has to be in the direction to the pump
you are a hidden gem. Damn!
Thank you for the kind words and watching.
Nice work 👍🏻 and thanks to you 😊
Thanks for watching and the comment.
