This scene makes me cry EVERY damn time, and I've seen this movie too many times to count. The vulnerability in his voice, his posture, his expression... Ugh. His performance in this movie is just so brave and perfect, one look at his face in some scenes and it's like a knife to the gut; so heartwrenching. Such a beautiful film.
This fucking broke me.
he's acting like he is because he can't imagine not having runt in his life; when she starts to get attention from the other boy (craig?) he starts realising how much he fancies her himself, so he becomes very jealous + reckless, not realising that he's actually scaring her / pushing her away. hope that helped a little :) x
I have nothing but pure respect for Cillian Murphy.
i would give anything to see cillian murphy perform this monologue live
I actually don't find this creepy or disgusting. :\ Strange, and dark, but mostly innocent and beautiful, longing, isolated.
People call me weird for calling this one of my favorite cillian performances… IM SORRY THIS IS JUST TOO GOOD
I think it’s coz he sounds like “my precious”
The most erotic monologue I've ever seen on stage/screen. Thanks Cill.
Hear hear
Never have I felt more stirred up inside and simultaneously so still and at peace than hearing and seeing this simple, painfully honest scene. It's like seeing this young man strip his whole mind and heart open, completely bare on screen, more intimately and sincerely than most of us ever let ourselves be known by anyone else in our real lives. What a gem. And yet, what a tragedy.
I didn’t realize until the later part of the movie that he is mentally challenged. So sad, but beautiful.
that is definetly a scene that, when thought of, will send a slight chill down my spine. I defy anyone who says this man can't act.
very descriptive that one
Reading the closed captions on this is a wild ride.😂
The CC is hilarious.
To do that ALL in just one take, that is real talent right there ^^
This scene always makes me feel so weird
Brilliant acting from an underrated actor. First time I watched this you could hear a pin drop. Scared the shit out of me
He has made it so far, one of my all time favorite actors
That is brilliant acting...
Strange, awkward, but most of all, romantic.
Splendid movie, A+ actor.
I love this film very much
We move slowly and gently, yeah?. And Runt, Runt give one more moan. And Pig, he pour into Runt. We man and woman now. We ain't little babies no more. I kiss Runt's eyes
That could have been written by Shakespeare himself. One of the greatest monologues of all times.
WOW. Now imagine Jonathan Crane talking
like this! *swoon* :)
my favourite movie ever .
omg cillian was so great in this!
I was able to understandmost of the words and will post it above for those who are having difficulty
In love with this scene
I only came here for the bare Cillian.
Those lips, oh my god...
does anyone have a transcript of this? I try and try but I still can't get everything he's saying
No idea what he said.
Lmaooo I thought it was only me!
I dunno. He says wet and soft a lot.
Very talented actor, and also very HOT!
the wrath of cillian murphy fans is frightening
15 years later and ur still correct
Love this…but whoever did the closed captioning was not even listening to what he was saying…
This is so sad 😢 I love you Cillian Murphy ❤️
We ain't babas no mor!
Brilliant actor.❤
Blud went from a failed musician to an amazing character actor who can act in all genres as different persons.
By no means he sucked as a musician. He was good. It was a contract dispute that didn't work out between his band & the company that was supposed to slingshot his band to the mainstream.
its a really good film should get on it!
Mr. Tommy Shelby before france 😂
😂😂😂😂
So honest and desperate longing .
Idk why but the way they talk in this reminds me of like Jamaicans or how some talk in South Africa
Late reply, but my family is Jamaican with some of my ancestors being Irish. So I can give some background for that. Long-story short: During Jamaica's infancy, a bunch of Irish slaves/indentured servants were brought over to Jamaica by England. Both the Irish and African slaves there intermingled, with the Irish teaching the Africans things like the English language. The result of all this is that the a lot of Jamaican culture today have roots from Irish culture - including the accent (Among African, Scottish, English, Indian, Chinese, and influences from other countries that had a role in forming Jamaica's culture). That's why some people call Jamaicans "The Irish of the Caribbean".
@@dantefettman354 very interesting thank you ☺️
@@mirandascott8058 You're welcome!
Me like Cillian Nakie.

Could someone please explain this film in great detail to me? I watched it the other night and it just went straight over my head, i couldnt understand why he was acting all crazy! :/ Thanks! x
tonisaparasite he’s Irish. Hahaha. It’s also a play, which makes everything a bit surreal and unnatural feeling. That’s part of what makes it so great. But have you never met someone like that irl? Who just flies off the handle?
Well, the most sound and realistic explanation is that Pig has some kind of autism, bpd and severe attachment issues.
Runt to me just seems undersocialised. They grew up with neglectful or straight up abusive parents and had none to trust except each other, growing more and more close at the same time increasingly nurturing the idea of “us against the world”. Severely agressive and antisocial towards anyone outside of their pair. Bulling and abusing others before they can take advantage of them - classic case of delinquency and misanthropy…. Common to at least half the population, and about 99% of teenagers (don’t quote me on that haha).
They feel they have nobody and no life other than each other.
And then throw budding teenage hormones into the mix with the pent up rage and hurt, you get what would be an innocent infatuation turned into stormy jealousy. All that chaos of emotion and no way to either understand or express it.
Runt is sent away and Pig just can’t handle the overwhelming pain of being left on his own for the first time ever, with everybody (in his mind) hating him and him hating them. He feels empty, abandoned and lost.
More than that, Runt is starting to outgrow him and has the potential and a wish to adapt to the world around her, widen the horizons of her small world - both with a crush on a boy and thinking about making other friends, in essence, bursting their tight little bubble and escaping the unhealthy bond, which Pig just won’t have. Even though he found her and brought her back, he’s losing her and he can feel it clearly - hence the erratic outbursts of violence and the agonising tears in the bathroom. He is not enough for her, while she is all he wants.
So he goes crazy, because nobody took care or even an interest in their mental health in time.
When they finally “get together” it is too late and the moment of bliss is overshadowed by the consequences of Pig’s violent jealousy. So they, being the troubled and emotionally illiterate teenagers that they are, see no other way out of the mess than death, which Pig accepts as his own sentence. Tragic, really, innocence of first love and friendship muddled with extreme chaotic violence and hurt.
Also, it’s a bit “over the top” and melodramatic, because it was originally a play. I do, however, still think it is quite a realistic film that deals with very real issues in a very poetic way.
TL;DR mental health issues and teenage hormones collide and explode bloody all over
hahaha :D
that made me giggle a lot.
someone tell me what the fuck he said
@comatoselucy A.MEN.
