Growing up when I was a little girl about you daughter's age we had a very bountiful Hayden mango tree in our front yard, about the size of what you have now. I loved climbing it and our family would have picnics under the shade of the tree. Neighbors loved that we shared the sweet juicy mangos with them. Super fast forward 45 years, we had to remove our beloved tree as it's massive roots cracked the sidewalks and uplifted the foundation to our home. We hired a professional company to do the job. They removed almost everything except for a few deep main roots they could not get to for some reason. Our mistake was we said to just leave it, and eventually it should rot away. We redid our lawn and planted El Toro Zoysia which grew in rather beautifully. Fast forward another 6 years and now those roots have rotted away leaving sinkholes in parts of my lawn. I won't have to deal with what you just did, but I am going to have to try to lift up the sod and fill in the hollow spots before laying the sod back down. I guess I'm sharing this with you as a word of warning, enjoy your tree for as long as you can but keep an eye on those darn roots.

Watching you using the circular saw bare footed scared the hell out o me. It could have kicked back and caused much dammage to your bare foot. Safety first my friend, always protect yourself from injury.

Ignore the criticisms. Fact is you got it done your way. And, it was really entertaining. I also have a root that needs to be gone. I was going to do it last week but didn't get around to it. We had 50 mile an hour winds yesterday so I'm glad I waited.

Just 2 days ago I removed a tree root roughly 6 ft long and 4 -6 inches round. I used my Sawzall with a 9 inch blade and a crow bar. Was done in 15 minutes.

I need to get me a crowbar or a prybar. Someone in my comments mention a tool call a B'root bar which looks very promising.

Vacuuming around the root 🤔🧐🤔😲. Why? Just seems unorthodox imo but hey no mess right? Anyway 👍

Reminds me of a burke bar that I saw on Essential Craftsman. I'll look into getting a Broot bar, looks like a handy tool.

It wasn’t that bad, I got a work out and was able to release some pent up frustrations. To bad I couldn’t just sprinkle seed on the bare spot like you cool kids.. I have to wait for my grass to spread and fill in. #timehealsall

I agree, but a man is only limited to what he can do with the tools he has.
