The last scene with Lestat is his only appearance in the entire series that is not a memory retold by Louis, Claudia and Armand. It's the first time we actually meet the real Lestat until we hear his version of events in season 3.
Notice Lestat in rehearsal now...he is reading the script with disdain in his voice. He is clearly not happy with the situation. The coven, including Armand, was determined to hold this trial. Lestat was overseas in the ground healing and mourning. The coven "notified" Lestat of their plans and Lestat came to figure a way to somehow mitigate the damage. Unfortunately, he isn't strong enough at that point to oppose the entire coven including Armand. Everything makes more sense when you find out Armand was complicit.

He explained why the coven didn't hear him as he poured gas on their coffins right as you asked why they couldn't hear him. When vampires "go to coffin" they enter a coma like state where they can't hear or see anything. It's not like human sleep. That's why they need coffins, to protect themselves when they are vulnerable.
@ShelbyBaby27 ahh! That's an interesting point. You may be the only person who has thought of that. He may have been also thinking about going into the sun, like you said. It also depends on how powerful he is at this point according to the show. He said in the last episode that he had the blood of Akasha in him, which would make him even more powerful than Armand. So he is probably capable of being in the sun, as Armand is. He probably also doesn't have to sleep during the day like Armand. The "narcoleptic pull of the sun" doesn't effect older, more powerful vampires like it does the younger vampires. Great point though. Also, he didn't exactly say what time Armand called him. Louis walked into the sun in the morning, but he laid there for a long time in pain before Armand called Lestat. It could have been night when he was called.

You know what I'm thinking about, though, with him? The Vampire loneliness. Is he just out there by himself? I know he mentioned hearing from Armand, but how is he properly developing skills because Louis and Claudia had to be taught. Maybe Armand was with him for a while?
@@birdcallsreaction that's a good question. Maybe Louis took him under his wing. Jacob Anderson said in the after episode extras that Louis kinda looks at Daniel as his annoying little brother. The only person it would make sense would mentor Daniel is Louis. I think Armand just turned Daniel and left him out of spite. I doubt he bothered to spend any time to teach him anything.
@@birdcallsreaction Daniel at least had foreknowledge of what vampires were before he was turned. He probably had a better understanding of the 'vampire world' than most living mortals.
To resume a conversation we were having last episode re: what if Lestat had refused to turn Claudia, but supported Louis turning her (if he was determined to turn her). I completely agree that Lestat did love Claudia. Very much.v I think Lestat, being old and having seen some stuff, as he explained in detail (which we got to see last episode) he knew Claudia would have struggles -- big struggles. So, while Louis raised her like a child, I think Lestat raised her to be as strong as possible, knowing she would struggle...knowing she would have a disadvantage in physical strength against other vampires. We saw him tell Claudia not to seek out other vampires for this exact reason (they would hurt her). We heard him warn them both to stay out of Europe -- because the vamps are vicious (and older and stronger). I think of the complex feelings which must arise when you love your offspring, you're trying to teach them and protect them, but you can see as time goes on that they don't want your protection. What do you do? Lestat loves Claudia and knows she needs him -- but Claudia wants more (which is fair enough, so would i, if I were her). But it creates this dynamic where Lestat sees impending doom for his precious little family -- the more he tries to keep it together, the more it flies apart. It's tragic. For everybody. 😓 If only Lestat could have explained more to Claudia to satisfy some of her curiosity... but he definitely can't (for potential spoiler reasons, I can't say more).
I think lestat wasn't ready to talk about what he went through before meeting Louis to claudia we saw how he reacted when he talked about his childhood in the pilot
@angelaholmes8888 totally agree...and when Louis finds Lestat in Magnus lair, he is glazed over, repeating a key line from a particularly traumatic moment in his past. But he reels it back in when Louis and Armand turn up. He isn't one to drown others in stories of his past traumas. He tried to tell Louis and Claudia what he thought they needed to know (dont go around other vampires, especially never go to Europe, other vampires are seriously dangerous, etc.). It's a bad situation for him because he can't tell them everything they want to know, no matter what. Not sure what is safe to say in his position.
He could have told them all about Paris without telling that other thing he was threatened not to tell, but he had horrible parents and didn't know how to be a good one.
This is a fascinating conversation about the way Louis was raising her vs. the way that Lestat was raising her because Louis was seeing them as a regular degular family, and Lestat was like, "No, there's REAL monsters out there..." But, based on what we saw of Louis in his first life, we know that he does what he has to do to survive, and he can course correct, so I REALLY wish that Lestat had told them what they were really up against. I think with any of our theories about dynamics, we end up in a "but I guess we'll never know..." place, but it is fun to think about.
@@raha78 technically, yes, i agree...but when i think it through, Claudia was on a voyage of discovery as she got older...going anywhere to find any source materials on the origins of vampires. She was building a library on the subject. Which i would too, if i were her! I'd be dying to know what i am...where do vamps come from...ALL that stuff. So Lestat could say "there's some vampires in a theatre in paris...putting on shows...but dont go there!" But knowing Claudia, that would make her even more curious. Plus, it gets dangerous to mention anything connected to Marius (including Armand) because Lestat absolutely cannot do that. There's such an added layer of danger because the strong old vamps could hear Claudia's thoughts. If she were to get to thinking about the wrong person or if she connects with a mind who leads her to certain thoughts...its disaster for everybody. The whole long distance mind-reading gift makes almost any information which has a chance of leading anywhere near certain subjects extremely dangerous. When someone has decades to ponder certain questions, and when other dangerous vampires have the power to hear those thoughts AND the power to mentally enter minds and INPUT info...well...i don't know what is safe to say. At the very least, i think it's reasonable that Lestat would (after decades of worrying about this issue) potentially come to the conclusion that the only safe option is to say as little as possible and strongly warn to stay away. It's so fraught! 😂 Also...another hiccup...Claudia has gotten to the point where she doesn't believe what Lestat says...even going so far as to imagine he murdered Magnus or enslaved him. Which makes me think she wouldn't believe Lestat or at least wouldn't take in a warning in the protective spirit it was given. It's a big pickle!
my favorite people. we've made it. I never not once believed that it was Armand instead of Lestat. I can't wait for next season and I'm glad Louis didn't fall back into another relationship at the end. I'm always gonna be team Loustat but they need time apart
Oh my gosh, the writing on this show is so good because it's really rare that you're looking at a couple that you know is inevitable and going, "Can I just get a little bit more time with you two apart? THANK YOU!" I'm also so glad!
What a journey it’s been. Glad you’ve enjoyed it. Absolutely loved your reactions and I agree, episode one season one had my full undivided attention not many shows do. Until next time
It is saving Claudia from the fire in New Orleans to having her burn to death in Paris that was most heart-wrenching for me. Louis will forever be guilt-ridden. His descent into madness and exchange with Santiago were fun to watch.
Your reaction to Daniel being a vampire had me cackling 😂 loved the reaction and can't wait to see what's next... y'all would love Hannibal since y'all liked this so much
Worth mentioning: In season 1, Louis is ridiculed for giving his ladies minority ownership of The Azalea. They could have easily had Louis return to Nawlins during Mardi Gras, but to have him return during Essence Fest, black women centric festival that's one of N.O. largest revenue makers, is chef's kiss 💋 Your plans weren't crazy, Louis 🤗
@@birdcallsreactionthat's a good question. I think they may have been planning on either killing Daniel or forcibly turning him. Raglan James told him that four others had tried to interview them, and they were all dead or undead. That's maybe what they had planned for Daniel.
It should also be mentioned that easter eggs of Akasha have been dropped since season 1. Right before Claudia starts her plan to kill Lestat and starts playing the piano with him Louis suggests they go to Greece and Lestat responds with, "Those who must be kept" thats Akasha and her husband. Louis also makes an off handed remark not knowing it when he asks Claudia "who are you looking for Adam and Eve of the damned" yeah thats Akasha and her husband Ankil.
Now y’all gotta watch the season 3 teaser….as far as Akasha goes, I would suggest watching Queen of the Damned(with the late great Aaliyah). To understand that and also what’s to come next
We did kick around the idea of watching Queen of the Damned because Aaliyah is in it and then with the mention in this episode, it may make sense. We'll have to see if we end up going down that road.
@birdcallsreaction my only concern would be if you watch that movie, it will spoil seasons 3 and potentially 4 for you, as the movie covers the next 2 books.
this was one of the first books i read in middle school that wasnt a school book or had pictures in it lol so this book and the others in the series have a special place in my heart i was a little disappointed in the movies but still loved them both especially Queen of the Damned Aaliyahs performance in that movie was great even though she didnt get to finish her scenes they a great job with the footage they had of her before she pasted on and for that i love that movie.
@@birdcallsreaction my thing is armand isn't perfect, but it breaks my heart to hear that someone was assaulted as a child continually and sold into that situation by their parents. what the circumstances of that must do to a person's psyche is unimaginable.
Not until this last episode could I say for sure that the series was better than the book. So many shows get good or great then stumble the ending. I can't stress how long I waited for this show to come out. The original pilot was written by Anne Rice and her son. That script came with the rights to most but not all books in the series. Not sure which ones they didn't pick up but it is irrelevant to my point. When I heard that they were not going with that script but instead they were doing their own thing and making a lot of major changes to the characters, plot, locations, time period, etc.. I was worried. Obviously, I was going to watch it but I was significantly less excited about it than I was. Now that feeling is flipped on its head. There is no way I could have imagined them doing what they did. Let alone doing it so well. Knowing the road ahead in source material and having this example of what they did with the first book makes me very excited. I don't know how they are going to do it but I know that they will do it well and with more imagination and respect than I could have hoped for.
I really hope that the writers of this show see feedback like this all the time because we know adaptations generally get eaten alive when they move to the small screen.

@@ShantalhaitianPrincessin one of the trailers for season two of Mayfair Witches, I'm pretty sure they quickly show Lestats fledgling (I think his names Felix) from the end of this episode. He's wearing a black leather jacket and has dark curly hair, so it looks like him. I think they are going to incorporate some vampires into the upcoming season.
Here me out: Louis never leaves the house in Dubai, but needs to "step out" after his fight with Armand. Where does he go? Why doesn't he take Daniel with him? The same Louis who said in hindsight he would have given Daniel the dark gift in 73' The same Louis that showed an interest in still wanting to sleep with Daniel in ep 5 How "convenient" If a vampire can get drunk/ high off of someone, what does digesting chemo from a Parkinson's patient (a disease that Armand & Louis may have caused btw) do? Armand didn't turn Daniel out of spite. He turned him as punishment..

The only person it would make sense would mentor Daniel is Louis. I think Armand just turned Daniel and left him out of spite. I doubt he bothered to spend any time to teach him anything.
@birdcallsreaction This is true in the show for sure. The book was pretty different when it came to Daniel and Armand.
@@birdcallsreaction Daniel at least had foreknowledge of what vampires were before he was turned. He probably had a better understanding of the 'vampire world' than most living mortals.
@@LastMumzy yeah, he had more information about how life was as a vampire than almost anyone else, maybe besides someone in the Talemasca.
If only Lestat could have explained more to Claudia to satisfy some of her curiosity... but he definitely can't (for potential spoiler reasons, I can't say more).
"I mean everything is in the cloud" 😭🤣🤣🤣
I love it when Louis reminds us that he has a flair for drama as well.
my favorite people. we've made it.
@ exactly!
What a journey it’s been. Glad you’ve enjoyed it. Absolutely loved your reactions and I agree, episode one season one had my full undivided attention not many shows do. Until next time
Oh my gosh, the JOURNEY! I just saw that we started this three months ago, and that's so wild. Honestly y'all made this so fun, so thank you!
@@birdcallsreactionso glad you chose this show
Enjoyed your final reaction of S2! I will definitely be with you in S3!
It is saving Claudia from the fire in New Orleans to having her burn to death in Paris that was most heart-wrenching for me. Louis will forever be guilt-ridden. His descent into madness and exchange with Santiago were fun to watch.
Same same same, when he said that I was done.
Your reaction to Daniel being a vampire had me cackling 😂 loved the reaction and can't wait to see what's next... y'all would love Hannibal since y'all liked this so much
...but there's no sexy vampires in Hannibal...😂
Worth mentioning:
In season 1, Louis is ridiculed for giving his ladies minority ownership of The Azalea. They could have easily had Louis return to Nawlins during Mardi Gras, but to have him return during Essence Fest, black women centric festival that's one of N.O. largest revenue makers, is chef's kiss 💋
Your plans weren't crazy, Louis 🤗
Thank you both your insights and brilliant content ❤
Loved your reaction! ill be here for s3 reaction too.
Great reaction cant wait for S3
You shouting at Louis to sit down was me shouting at him to STAND UP during season one when he took Lestat back. lmao! Great reaction.
You know what's so funny about that now is that this go-round when I watched it, I was like, "I do wonder what special thing was planned..."
Louis also makes an off handed remark not knowing it when he asks Claudia "who are you looking for Adam and Eve of the damned" yeah thats Akasha and her husband Ankil.
i tear up everytime I watch this finale lmaooo its so good. The wait for season 3 is slowly killing me but I can't wait for your teaser reaction.
I hate that I am about to be in the trenches of the wait!
Thank you for your videos! I really enjoyed both of you!
Please react to a little sneak peak of season 3 :)
The plan is to do the teaser and music video, we think we'll have it up the last week of December.
@@birdcallsreaction YAYYYYYYY!!!
beautiful reaction!
I hope you ladies react to the trailer for season 3 Interview With The Vampire
You guys should so do a mini-reaction to the S3 trailer “Meet the Vampire Lestat” ITS SOOOOOOOO GOOD
That's the plan!
I really loved this!!!
this was one of the first books i read in middle school that wasnt a school book or had pictures in it lol so this book and the others in the series have a special place in my heart i was a little disappointed in the movies but still loved them both especially Queen of the Damned Aaliyahs performance in that movie was great even though she didnt get to finish her scenes they a great job with the footage they had of her before she pasted on and for that i love that movie.
i love armand. i love armand.
I have loved our one-sided beef. Hopefully, I can be like Louis and decide that time heals.
@@birdcallsreaction my thing is armand isn't perfect, but it breaks my heart to hear that someone was assaulted as a child continually and sold into that situation by their parents. what the circumstances of that must do to a person's psyche is unimaginable.
thumbs up! Great reaction!
It's been a pleasure!
Akasha=the vampire Aaliyah played in the film
Love you two. You are not like the guys that that talk for an hour and a half. Or think that their opinion is so important that they need to explain every detail. Looking forward to joining you on other show. If you are a Sam fan there is a show The Newsreader, season1 will be starting Dec. 19 on Sundance Now which is included with your AMC+ subscription. One episode very week, 6 episodes. Then season 2 same number of episodes. Season 3 is the new season, and it will start in Feb. 2025. Maybe you can review that next. You guys have an awesome holiday. 🥰
I was just mentioning to Akaya that Sam is on another show! Are you enjoying it so far?
@@birdcallsreactionI am. This character is so totally different. I have seen the first 2 seasons.
@@birdcallsreaction I made my partner obsessed with Sam Reid with The Newsreader, that man can ACT and the show itself is very, very, very, very, very good with all characters pulling their weight
will you guys be watching the Mayfair witches next since it is part of the series its not as good as Interview with the Vampire but it has its moments and session 2 is about to come out soon*
You know, I haven't heard anyone say they love Mayfair witches! We are planning on watching Talamasca though!
@@birdcallsreaction hopefully its more like interview with the Vampire than Mayfair witches i dont know how they messed that one up but season 2 looks better than season one going by the trailer idk i love the books so im giving it another chance
@@ShantalhaitianPrincessin one of the trailers for season two of Mayfair Witches, I'm pretty sure they quickly show Lestats fledgling (I think his names Felix) from the end of this episode. They are showing little bits of the upcoming season real fast, and if you look closely you can see a vampire that looks like him turn around and bare his fangs at someone. He's wearing a black leather jacket and has dark curly hair, so it looks like him. I think they are going to incorporate some vampires into the upcoming season.
Please review the season 3 teaser!
Hello. Will you watch new episodes of jackal?
We will! We're planning on finishing the season!
♥️
Can’t wait☺️
Here me out:
Louis never leaves the house in Dubai, but needs to "step out" after his fight with Armand.
Where does he go?
Why doesn't he take Daniel with him?
The same Louis who said in hindsight he would have given Daniel the dark gift in 73'
The same Louis that showed an interest in still wanting to sleep with Daniel in ep 5
How "convenient"
If a vampire can get drunk/ high off of someone, what does digesting chemo from a Parkinson's patient (a disease that Armand & Louis may have caused btw) do?
Armand didn't turn Daniel out of spite. He turned him as punishment..
Wait, do we get more information on this at some point? Because now I'm interested...
@birdcallsreaction I always thought they were dosing Daniel during those 7 course dinners. Also, their inconsistent telepathy use. What convos are being had non-verbally?
Please please please react to the season 3 teaser trailer cause it's such a vibe😂😂😂 I'm sooo looking forward to season 3 cause it's gonna be such an emotional rollercoaster we all would need to keep the tissues close and it's gonna be adapted from the second book. We will meet the real lestat in season 3 plus he'll not be as much of a unreliable narrator as Louis. He kinda felt borderline to me cause he has such intense emotions and outbursts but seriously after reading about the shit he went through in the second book i got where the outbursts came from but still kinda feel like he has bpd🤓
hola por favor reaccionen al teaser de la temp 3 y tambien añ videos de las equivocaciones de los actores que lanzo AMC es muy divertido lastima que un poco corto yo tambien queria estrangukar a armand feliz que louis le pateo el trasero
The teaser is coming! I didn't know there was a blooper reel. I'll have to see if we can work that in!
Do The Day of the Jackal episode 2
It should be up this week!
Are you lady's sisters.
We are!
Lestat is not absolved. I do not forgive I’m still mad 😡 🤦🏾♀️
😂I think that a healthy part of watching this show is holding on to some grudges, whyyyy not? Let's all stay a little mad.
@@birdcallsreaction lol. i've been mad since election night.
