I honestly prefer the version where Cave Johnson just died before the technology was ready, and his dying wish was for Caroline to use it instead. It makes it a little more tragic, what he thought was his one good act towards Caroline turns into this
Wasn't Caroline coerced into storing her consciousness on the Genetic Lifeform and Disk Operating System? There was a cut soundbite of Caroline resisting, apparently they didn't do that scene because it felt too rapey.

That doesn’t make it canon, and I know that it doesn’t make it canon. But death of an author allows me to interpret it in such a way that I can have my cake AND eat it too.

An alternate ending to this could be that Cave's cube has a backup battery, which (seeing as this is an aperture produced machine) would make him realise he would continue to live for about 500 years. making him have a mental breakdown.
I read _reaction_ instead of recreation. I honestly thought this whole scene was real until the very end where I wondered where the reaction was, and why funke is doing walkthroughs now. Super impressive, the robot johnson voice worked almost perfectly, being stuck in a box and all.
You laugh, and then the tragedy of what you just witnessed starts to set in and you feel bad for laughing. You feel bad, but you laugh anyway. The telltale sign of a quality Portal joke.

@@PersonMeetup I've watched the GDC panel, it's really enlightening. I do think that now that players are familiar with the robots, it would be less jarring though. The main thing with "not recognizing you" was that it felt like Portal wasn't connected to Portal 2, especially with the retcons. Character continuity bridged that. Now that we know about the robots, it would be a lot easier to have a Portal 3 start out either directly after 2's campaign or after Art Therapy. I dunno. It'll probably never happen, I just hope we get more F-STOP showcases

Although this is very funny, I can see why they cut this. It doesn't really make sense for Cave to spend years building a giant supercomputer to house his consciousness then put himself into a small, depressed cube instead. The current explanation of "Cave died before the machine was ready / was too sick to be uploaded, so Caroline became GLaDOS instead because that was Cave's final order to his scientists" makes much more sense.

I doubt Caroline was entirely deleted, I think she is part of GLaDOS, and GLaDOS only pretended to get rid of her. You do get to hear an entire symphony clearly directed at you (Chell) from Caroline at the end despite GLaDOS claiming she is gone.

One thing the dev commentary DID say was they wanted her to NOT have an arc, that she didn’t GROW as a person because in the end it’s funnier and arguably more true to her spiteful nature to delete what annoys her rather than learn from it!
uberduck's ai is not very dynamic. 15.ai has a much better glados (and cave) TTS but it's been down for half a year so I have no access to it- this was the best I could work with basically.

I legit didn't notice cave's voice was an AI , it was a bit odd but terrifyingly convincing and good.
Definitely felt choppy and jittery in places, I noticed a couple lines in.
