The Maserati Quattroporte is much more than simply what its name suggests, four doors.
Of course, it has the four doors but it’s a large luxury saloon with a sports car pedigree. Launched in 1963, the Quattroporte is now into its sixth-generation, itself being the subject of a recent mid-life refresh.
The latest model gets a new bumper design with matte black details and a redesigned front grille with new vertical chrome slats. It now features an electrically adjustable air shutter in the grille which helps to reduce drag by 10%.
Along the flanks, there’s now matte black side skirts and restyled wing mirrors while the rear gets a new bumper design with matte black insert.
Inside, there’s a new 8.4in high-resolution touchscreen which now includes smartphone connectivity and there’s a secondary rotary controller between the seats.
Below the screen are redesigned heating controls and a new compartment with fold down cover that contains a slide out tray for your smartphone as well as a USB and auxiliary sockets.
There are three engines to pick from, two petrol and a diesel. The entry-level petrol is the S with a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 developing 404bhp and 407lb ft of torque. The more powerful GTS gets a 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 developing 523bhp and 524lb ft of torque.
On the diesel front, you get the choice of a single 3.0-litre V6 with 271bhp and 443lb ft of torque.
All engines are available in standard spec and in GranLusso and GranSport trim.
Prices start from £70,520 for the entry-level diesel and rise to £115,980 for the GTS GranSport.
We’re testing the petrol S in standard trim which costs £82,705. It gets a few extras which nudge the price to £97,045 including: Grigio Maratea metallescent paint; carbon fibre interior trim; DAB radio: 20in machine polished Urano design alloy wheels; Trident headrest stitching; full premium leather finish; convenience pack; and driver’s assistance pack plus.

Thanks so much, you really help me out !
@Alden Raymond Happy to help xD
Drive an S class and then the Quattroporte. I did and there's no comparison. One car drives you. The other you look forward to driving. I bought the Quattroporte. Nothing like that beautiful Ferrari growl and iconic trident!
thepeeps07 its a pennstar motor by fiat! Ferrari just put it together, basically it’s a dodge caravan motor maxed out! 3.6
s class is better tho lol
@p Plains its a Ferrari 488 engine ruclips.net/video/ePtoON_Sevc/видео.html The car is built in Modena.
@@Bigoliver101 Nope
@@deeznutzz101 same motor in my jeep rubicon. Now.... the granturismo is a ferrari F136y engine used in the F430.
Good video I bought a 2015 Quattroporte diesel model and have been doing a 160 mile per day commute in it this month. It’s averaged 38mpg on a mix of country roads, motorway and city driving so I’m happy with that. It definitely compares well to the Jaguar XF I had previously. While it lacks the refinement of a Mercedes E class (I’ve had a few) it definitively has presence and I think it’s a super looking car. With the exception of the display / audio system I think the 2015 and 2017 look pretty similar. I agree on the comments ref it’s size, the parking sensors and camera are a must. Overall I think they are a great car and a viable alternative to the Audi, BMW, Jaguar, Mercedes alternatives even for daily high mileage use👍
maserati quattroporte has been in production since 1963 my friend......
Thank you for clarifying that :-) I was like, "'73? Hell no"
For those who think it's stupid that the Quattroporte has the same infotainment system with Dodge and other brands: The UConnect system that FCAU has is highly regarded. I don't understand the issue of putting something so universally regarded in a Maserati. It's not like it's a bad system
Dustin Gonzales there are drivers and then there’s everybody else. Maserati is for drivers.
I just subscribed to this guy because everyone else tells you info that doesn't matter or I don't care about 👍👍
My dream car
These modern turbo-V6 and lower displacement turbo-V8 sounds don’t impress me as much as my Tipo M139 with the 4.2, or the 4.7 models, or even as much as the classics from the 70s and earlier. Still a lovely sound compared to others in the class though.
The review of the 2018 Ghibli 430hp would be great as the model has been thoroughly updated inside out
Hi there. A request has been lodged with Maserati for a Ghibli press car. We'll follow that up this week.
Seriously considering buying the new GTS Quattroporte. I only wish they'd make a slightly shorter two door version of this, with a shorter arse, but the same long bonnet, giving it a profile similar to a 275 GTB. They could call it the Dueporte. I know there's the Ghibli, but it doesn't have the aggressive front, nor the powerful engine. Also, and I don't want to sound elitist, but the only reason you buy a Ghibli is if you can't afford the Quattroporte.
What about the 2 door that they already do, the granturismo?
No, the problem with the GT is that its looks are more biased towards a supercar than a GT car. But it's too long to be one, and, again, it's rear end is too long... Also I kind of have it out for four seaters which really aren't four seaters. The mock rear seating could've been removed and have made room for a shorter wheelbase and an engine in the middle. That's what I see when I see the Grand Turismo.
Kristian Brandt yeah I kind of agree with you. I have the ghibli but it’s the 2015 one, they’ve given this years model a face lift and it looks spectacular! I’m not a fan of the Porte as it’s nose hangs over the front wheels too much. Either way I’d have any of these cars over s German “box” any day!
I actually quite like the nose, it's as if it's creeping over the front wheels, But as with most things cars, this much is entirely subjective. Also, if I may, 'The Porte' is a terrible abbreviation, Quattroporte literally translates into 'four door' meaning the Porte abbreviation is 'the door'. And personally I think Quattroporte is one of the best sounding model names given to a car, it's right up there with Intercepter and Countach. I suspect half the fun of owning the QP(that's better) is that you get to say Quattroporte a lot. Though, again, I guess this much is subjective.
Actually the Gts doesnt look that large in person. I bought one recently and was kinda thinking it was gonna be to big or large. I bought sight unseen and when it arrived I was pleasantly surprised. It has tons of road presence and a real head turner. I've had bmw and Mercedes for my last 7 cars and not one time did people respond to them like the GTS. true it doesnt have the tech that the german cars do. But you can swing a dead cat and hit a german car. Masserati is a completely different beast.
Absolutely astonishing car. Hands down the most beautiful limousine ever.
The reviewer has not mentioned that you get the same gearbox and infotainment system on a Dodge Ram pickup!
WhiteVanMan
Then buy a fucking pickup.
Shares the transmission with the Mercedes S class
Yep, it is built by Zahnradenfabriek Friedriechshaven, and also used in for instance certain BMW’s and Range Rover’s....
@@pedroiii2203 You mean you have not got one? Shame on you.
@@whitevanman8703 the dodge ram os one of the best cars ever so.. no problem
The Quattroporte Nerissimo Edition is black out madness in a luxury sport flagship car :)
Did this guy actually say, watch your eye on the corner of the frame less glass, wtf how many people in the world have damaged or lost an eye by poking it against the window frame of a car. I'll hazard a guess at none 😂.
J G 😱
It's funny how everybody here is blasting the maserati quadruporte For using other manufacturer parts Or the entertainment system from Chrysler. What does lamborghini hurricane any hurricane basically has a Volkswagen engine because the V10 it's the V10 is Volkswagen I have an old lamborghini jalpa And that used the little tiny V8 from alpha Romero The same block that the quattroporte Uses in this particular model is the same engine block used in my Jeep Rubicon
The car doesn't "reach its crescendo". A crescendo is an increasing volume, so when it hits peak revs, it's already creschendoed. :)
Why do you reproduce a video with such LO volume. Don't you realize then the user can turn down the volume but not amplify in on normal devices
It's been around since 19 SIXTY THREE actually.
You can get paddles as an option on Masers, they just haven't been fitted to this particular one.
Really really awesome.. thanks bro 😬💪💕
But can it hold a toothpaste in the panel gap?
I keep hearing Lidl
Awful Chrysler parts in this so called "Italian car"
Dhruv Kota yes the door mounted controls and buttons on the infotainment
And the new "ultra luxury" has the same stocksand door controls of a 2007 Seat Ibiza you can buy for 450€, so what? Every car manifacturer do that
So, small parts that work then?!
But those Chrysler parts are ok in a German Mercedes Benz???
Dhruv Kota you mean, like the VW-parts in the Lamborghini’s?
That's pretty much the same nav screen as a fucking Chrysler. Wow bad quality
so?! Obvs can't afford one lol! Mines a beaut!
