Excellent lecture , concise and charming. Students of Law may not generally care for the Austin's definition of Law.Austin's definition will not help to build up a successful career. For a common man, LAW consists of a set of rules and norms to ensure fairness in turn justice. Breach would result in displeasure or distress like fine and imprisonment ..But what to do ? Justice is often alien. Bonehead investigator, bad prosecutor and dull-witted lawyer will create dilemma for the jury. Every lawyer cannot be like Mr.M.K.Gandhi .Still ,there should be minimum commitment to TRUTH ,a component essential to deliver Justice.

In 19th century, Austin was having Queen as the Sovereign in mind. In Neo school of law ( under democracy) , “ LAW can be defined as a command of majority, for the welfare of society, the breach of which is met with penalties and punishments.” - that’s my definition of law. Eminent legal luminary MANOJ Krishna should write a book “ The Republic of Jurisprudence Determined” as we consider his profile higher than John Austin. My assistance from Dubai is guaranteed.
