If you wish to try another Small Mouth "Factory," try the Juniata River, anywhere between Lewistown and its mouth, on the Susquehanna, at Duncannon. I was born and raised in Pennsylvania and fished everywhere, in that state, in my younger years. I had any number of folks refer me to the Juniata and tell me it was the best Small-mouth fishing in the country. The couple dozen or so times I drove down to fish and canoe, it sure lived up to that billing...40 or 50 very good sized fish in a day was not unheard of. However, I have not been there for a good number of years, since I now live in Florida, but, after watching this video and remembering the Juniata, I might just plan a trip, in the near future before it is time to check out and go fish that paradise Trout Stream or Bass River in the sky.

Twenty years ago the Susquehanna was unbelievable. We averaged 150 smallmouth per day, with additional fallfish, yelloweye, walleye, muskellunge, and catfish. It is a shadow of its former self now. Glad you like it

You are not wrong. Last year when I went to susquehanna for the first time, it very quickly became my all time favorite fishery. The first day I caught my first muskie. Then the next day i caught like a 10lb carp that ATE a squarebill, then the two tourney days I caught my personal best smallmouth twice. It was amazing, you can see everything, it's beautiful. Now I'm trying to plan a trip where I take my brother or some friends and family who don't fish to show them how special a fishery it truly is. I'm a lot like you in that the TN river lakes are my fav lakes (despite the DQ at chick a year ago this month) and the susquehanna is my favorite river and favorite overall fishery. Keep the content coming, you are on a roll!

As a resident of PA, and smallie enthusiast, this is HANDS down the best river to fish for smallmouth on the East Coast and is in the top 5 smallmouth rivers in the US. Plenty of forage, as Kristine showed, the river bottom is loaded with crawfish which supports the quality of the fishery. Great video and glad you had a great time fishing our gem here in PA.🎣

Kristine, I grew up next to the Susquehanna in Pennsylvania and I loved fishing this river. I had no boat but walked out into the river and walked the bottom. I still have fond memories of a smallmouth strike and how they would walk the top of the water on their tails. One day, I tied into a pike that was so heavy at first that my friend laughed at me saying I was hung on a tree limb of the bottom. The laugh turned around when I landed that monster. Try the Hellgrammite some time, those bass eat them up. Love your show and your casting ability. Your skip casts are a beauty to behold!

The Cayuga were one of the original Iroquois nations confederation. Some centuries ago. Some of those nations had been flint stone tool workers. Some of them were highlanders. Others such as the Cayuga nation of the Iroquois speaking people. Were from the lowland and wetland areas. Eventually it became six nations. And the sixth nation were based around the upper reaches of this Susquehanna river system. Which flows out to (correction, Baltimore). Mixing up with Delaware river system. Philadelphia was an important colonial port. One of the first of them. There were two smaller nations that were along the Hudson river system. Additional to the five nations that were all based. Along the shoreline of Lake Ontario. And the five nations extents stretched deep into the interior. Of what is a modern day forested region. Of the northern parts of Pennsylvania State. It is only in these river journey images, that I get some idea. Of how expansive and wide this environment is.

The Delaware river upper reaches and tributaries of the Catskill limestone mountain areas. In New York State. Is the river system in which fly fishing. In the later nineteenth century. Had become most established. With some other parts of Pennsylvania, Maine, and elsewhere. Historians of fly fishing in U.S. suggest that Philadelphia had stores that sold fly fishing tackle. Even in the late eighteenth century. As far back as that.
