Hi, thanks for posting! I'm curious about the android head unit you used and the year of your SL55, so I can see if the head unity is compatible with my 2004 SL55. Did you have to use a fiber optics decoder and/or rewire the speakers to a new amp?

Isn’t there a knockout between the lights, just opposite the keyhole? No drilling, ready made for camera.

Does the wire from the camera go through the same hole that you drilled to mount it? What is on the other side of that trunk panel inside the trunk? My SL55 has a lot of hardware mounted in that area and there is a sheet metal panel covering that area as well.

Hi Tom, few things to mention. Those parts are the trunk actuator and the 3rd break light. Those were not removed in the process the wire for the camera followed the wire for the 3rd break light. As you saw in the video we drilled the hole to fit the wire through. The sheet metal panel is just structural rigidity. The camera wire came in two separate pieces the camera and wire with a male input to the video cable with a female output. I put the opposite end of the camera first so the wire can fit inside that panel. We used some tweezers or a long thin arm that can grabs (shown in the video) to pull that cord out all the way.

How does it detect being in reverse?

    • @Mr.Affalterbach

It communicates with the ecu through some of the plugs that were connected. I dont know how but it detects the car going in revers all the time.

@@Mr.Affalterbach Did you ever fix the noise issue in the gas tank? If so, can you give me some input? I have the same issue with my SL500. Thanks!

@@markinverde10 Can tell you what this is as I and many others have had the same issue. The baffles inside the tank break lose at the welds and drum as the fuel slewses back and forth. Can be fixed by attaching a spring to the baffle attached through the gauge float. Takes a couple of hours to fit.

Do you remember which connector and which wire signaled that it was in reverse? I see you grabbing a red wire but can't tell where it originates.@@Mr.Affalterbach

I don’t understand why you feel the need to include such an intrusive sound track. It contributes absolutely nothing.

You should stop doing one-handed videos.
