Depends what species. Some like indoor mixes (potting soil) , some like a gritty mix or sandy (different kinds for succulent, cactus, or tropical), or a basic tropical mix.
Best if indoor to choose a pot that loses water easily
That way the roots don’t sit too long in watering

When buying, ask more than one person so you get a stronger opinion
