Just to clarify I am not part of the project team or investors to reopen the theatre . Only giving those who are a chance to get the info out there. Thanks to Casey for giving me information on what’s happening and a little backstory on why the downtown theatre has been closed for ten years
@TheDailyWoo Adam, why not consider being on the team or investing in it? You would be the perfect spokesperson for their operation and I think could contribute allot of good ideas. They have the right idea, using half for movies, and converting the other half for concerts/performances. We have a place here in Massachusetts called TCAN, (The Center for Arts Natick) that is just that. In the early 2000s a group of business owners saved a closed firehouse from being demolished and turned it into a performing arts theatre. The garage became the main theatre, featuring a wide variety of musicians, comedians, many well known. In the past 3 or 4 years they converted the firefighter's quarters upstairs into a small movie theatre that can also be utilized for smaller concerts and activities. They show a variety of movies, classics and new releases. which I think the project team should consider instead of just doing classic movies which would make it more sustainable and profitable. They also do a film festival for the high school every year where the students produce their own films to be shown at the theatre.
Thank you for clarifying your role and intent. There is substantial valor in doing so during these times of ‘as it happens’ coverage. Walt Disney would’ve enjoyed your content too, I feel.
They need to leave the tile work inside and on the walls, as originally designed. Just give it a good cleaning. That’s what makes it so iconic in the first place.
Can't even imagine why such a beautiful retro building like that has been stood unused, it's so good that people like Casey have the ideas to give it pretty much back so the whole community can use it, sounds like he has some fantastic ideas, i would love to live their Adam, love that community spirit, where i live it used to be like that, now people barely know who lives next to them, pretty sad times, Thankyou x
It is unfortunate to have such an icon from the district going to waste. Just because it's a safer bet for the building owner to get guaranteed money from AMC than to let them out of the contract. Giving someone else a go could make them a little more money if it's a success or lose money if it fails. But hopefully this is rectified soon with the contract expiring. There's a lot of good ideas mentioned in the video so this could be a hit if done right.
Good morning Adam ...always good to see you ...it's always good to bring back an area ...brings people out to enjoy the outdoors and visit with other people..that's always good to meet others!
Nice video, I liked it, I love Celebration, is a beautiful village, I have been there twice, I'd love to return someday, I hope soon, is a charming and quite place, grettings from Costa Rica 😍❤️👌🇺🇸🇨🇷✈️
Hi Adam, We watched Alice in Wonderland in the Celebration cinema 2010 whilst on holiday from uk. They told us at the time this was going to be the last movie before closing. Great what what your doing in Celebration. We love the area and the retro theme cinema. Can’t wait to come back.
Good morning. I just went to post office for the new Yogi Berra stamp. I had to go to several post offices to get a supply. They are selling out fast here in NJ. Adam just remember as Yogi always said “When you get to a fork in the road, take it.”
Adam I encourage you to try the Downtown Diner. They have really great food and service. The skillets are huge, so are the sandwiches. OJ is super too. Most highly recommend to a fellow Celebration resident.
HEY ATW...THIS IS A VERY COOL PROPOSITION to be involved with re-opening of Celebration's theater. How awesome is this. Good job ATW for bringing this to light. I believe everyone in town and visiting will love having this venue to enjoy. The architecture is popping and with a screen and a stage, who knows? I look forward to a vlog from the grand opening!
My wife and I used to walk from our townhouse on Campus to the theater all the time to watch movies (before the kids). We saw the Matrix there when it came out. There actually used to be a guy that rode a bike that was attached to a full-sized piano up and down the downtown area playing tunes. They pressure washed the streets every morning too when the town first opened. We moved in in June of 1996 but the downtown didn't open for a while later.
I love your honesty. Have a great trip back here to the west. But we are having record hi temps. North Idaho is going to be 110 today and out june temps are usually mid to upper 70s. We went from 60 last week as hi to today suppose to be a 110.
His vision for the remodel seems awesome and keep it authentic would be great for nostalgic movie viewing. I love history and hope to see this open soon!
A number of years ago I worked for a local municipality in the Midwest. It was my job to come up with ideas for community wide events that would bring people to the area as well as generate revenue for local businesses and the town itself. Through my tenure we had wonderful events that revitalized the downtown and I would have been thrilled to find someone like Casey who had a vision to positively promote the town. All of the local merchants loved these events because they made money and got people into their shops who might never have known that the shops existed, except for one guy. He was a crotchety old man who hated these events because to many people kept “forcing their way into his store” ! He would even call the police because people kept parking in front of his shop. He would complain about me at Town Council meetings to try to get me to stop planning these events! He finally just closed his store when we had an event planned. I never did figure this guy out!
This vlog is amazing to see. My current neighborhood had a theater that sat for 25 years and finally renovated into offices. Such a waste of a rehab and nostalgia. This guys vision is perfect and feasible. Hope it works it out. Thanks for sharing Adam.
We visit the Orlando/Celebration area a few times a year as we aren't far from there and its good to see them fixing up that area and revitalizing it all. Cart wait
I've never been there but love the architecture. I'd love to see even older movies in there like a string of Abbott & Costello movies, Katherine Hepburn & Cary Grant movies, '60's Beach Party movies would be fun.
I manage a venue in town and I get calls every day from groups who need a place to perform. Sadly, we are so busy I can't accommodate them so a venue that would be open to rental groups, schools, dance studios, musicians, comedy shows, would be a huge hit and would thrive. Open as a rental venue..
I'm so excited and I can't wait Casey is my new hero of the Day for bringing this information to us and or sharing this information you're my hero too Adam. The way he's describing it for its use are just so cool I can see going to see a performance there or old movies and I can see them having a red carpet opening night they got to do that. It's just so exciting I'm full of giggles. The hard part is sitting and waiting for it to be done boo lol
It is sad seeing the theater empty. I remember going to see a couple of movies there back in the day and there used to be a church service on Sundays there.
So exciting to work on renovating such a cool place. Wishing you all the best of luck. If I lived there I’d be 100% supportive. One of our OG local theaters i(NoCal) is currently turning into a climbing gym. No parking at all, so I guess that’s an issue. Ah well.
I live in a City where there are about 50 k plus in the area. Movies at the local mall always struggles. Movie night is just so lost. You can go onto the net through your large screen TV at home and watch so many movies the day they hit.
And, you can put MANDALORIAN, WANDAVISION, LOKI, BAD BATCH on the Big Screen! Who wouldn't want to watch MANDO on a sharp big screen with great sound?!
Wow, would be super cool if this pans out the way he's describing it. I'm west coast but someday we want to go to WDW and Celebration is on my list of "Want to See" because of its Disney influence. We thought it would be nice to have lunch and spend an afternooon strolling around....maybe we'll be able to take in a movie too? Would be pretty cool.
Does anyone have any photos of the inside? It was the first stadium seating movie theater in the area from what I remember. There were two theaters and you walked down the center of the theater to enter and then walked up the stairs on the side - again really ahead of it's time.
Great video I really hope they reopen the theater. I remember going to visit Celebration, Florida on three occasions in 1999, 2003, 2008 and seeing the Celebration Movie Theatre when it was open; but sadly I never did get a chance to see a movie there.
I'm glad to see the theater reopening. I can't wait to see it happen. A lot of small town movie theaters are closing. I guess people don't go to them anymore. You could do a vlog when you go to that diner. I'd like to see what it's like. Cats are good luck, not bad luck. The squirrel is like leave me alone and let me eat.
Shame on AMC for letting that beautiful theater stand empty for so long. I love the plans that Casey has in mind. It'll be a great place for community theater and kids events as well as movies. There's no way it won't thrive. Thanks for the update Adam. 😊
I remember hearing a rumor that AMC maintained the lease of the theater wiyj no movies to to draw people over to the AMC 24. Can't wait for the theater to reopen.
Was just looking where this was on google maps and noticed the building in Celebration Suites near Old Town where I stayed last time I visited Disneyland has been demolished. Can't stop progress.
Great that somebody’s planning to do something with that old cinema, and doubly great that you got to talk to the guy. Seems like such a waste right now to not have it still be open.
All being well my family & I are due to be visiting WDW in May next year from the U.K. Keeping everything crossed that this amazing development goes ahead & that we can come to watch a movie here! Will definitely check out their website & the gofundme page. Thanks for the info guys, best of luck.x
I bet he could sell pre-packaged ice cream bars - just not the kind you have to scoop. And, if he is going to rip up the tile, etc... He should sell all of those items as souvenirs to support the new remodeling both online and right there. Adam, I hope you get on board with this project!!!

disney went bankrupt
No where to park. That's the biggest issue.

@@MrNateSPF hope it works out for them ,but a major movie cinema corp didnt so bad planning for parking or theater design probably to blame .
Great video. I sure hope your guest keeps the interior intact! The floors, the counters, the colors all brilliant.

Good morning, Mr Woo. I love your little town so much so we are heading to FL in Oct and have reservations to stay in Celebration for a night🤗
As a Celebration Resident myself I FULLY SUPPORT THIS! I really really hope this dude can make this happen! 👍🏻
Every time I watch your videos it makes my day less stressful thanks so much for uploading and keeping us entertained Adam

As DVC members we would be stoked to be able to go see a movie in the celebration theater during our yearly trips!
Am I the only one who feels like Celebration almost feels like a movie set? Almost has a Hill Valley vibe to it for some reason in my mind.
Yes it does . Reminds me of Truman show
@@TheDailyWoo Must be nice to be able to turn the camera off!
@@TheDailyWoo Hmmm, do you ever get the feeling that everyone is watching you?
Celebration was built by Disney and imagineers had a hand in planning it! Celebration is the definition of a “ planned community”!

I did the same in my town, re. downtown redevelopment; a challenge, and a time....but so worth it; it proves itself in the "long run"
I had a Xanadu flashback moment when you showed the spires

I see a ton of these smaller theaters that were once bought by AMC or Regal are shut down when they build the mega-theaters nearby
