The Fury

In Brian DePalma's terrifying horror/thriller, an elaborate game of mind control begins when the son (Andrew Stevens) of a government agent (Kirk Douglas) is kidnapped for his psychokinetic powers. Desperate to find him, the father hires a girl (Amy Irving) with similar psychic abilities. She soon reveals that his son is a prisoner at a secret U.S. agency where he's being used for dangerous mind experiments and programmed for elimination.

i just love how De Palma blueprints his shots. He shows where the characters are located in relation to the background in a single unbroken shot, dispensing with the dialogue without the use of cross-cutting, before the fireworks (and frenzied editing) explode a few minutes later. Richard H. Kline, the cinematographer, and Albert Bettcher, Kline's long-time camera operator, did a fantastic job, especially in the burnished night scenes.
