These are really helpful tips! I definitely have made a lot of these mistakes when getting back in Pokémon cards. Thank you for sharing and helping out others!
Really good advice. My only thing to add is you can get good cash back deals simply by using a cash rewards credit card for purchases. But ONLY use a credit card if you can pay off your balance in full each month! Happy hunting!
I haven't really made any mistakes collecting I started over covid I already had a goal before I even started which was to complete the Pokedex binder but I also have other goals like to collect all Pig Pokemon cards I've now been collecting for 3 years and I've only opened a total of 10 packs I mostly get all my cards used at my local Game Exchange I do believe that opening packs is fun getting all the cards you need second hand is definitely the way to go
I basically did every single one of these mistakes when I got back into the hobby last year, learned the hard way. Keep sealed sealed and buy singles, that’s my advice.
Quality over quantity is my collection approach. I’d rather have 1 card that is iconic, very rare, valued pretty high, highly sought after, vs. having a binder full of bulk v, full arts, EXs, over printed modern IRs, etc.
yeah I needed to make a set budget very early on...I'm someone who falls quickly for fomo Also in the past, when I was under huge stress/pressure, I tended to become a shopaholic 😅
Brooooo whatnot? ugh. shady af scammers everywhere on there. dont be recommending that to new collectors who dont understand the scamming that occurs in live breaks.
“Everywhere” is quite an exaggeration. You can’t believe everything you hear on RUclips. I’m on there all the time, and there are plenty of good sellers. Plus, I generally don’t recommend buying into live breaks anyway - as I mentioned, I buy singles on there.
Don’t believe the hype. It’s not as evil as some claim it is - it’s not perfect, but what company is? Check out this video if you want a different perspective on it: ruclips.net/video/sliJlq14k6k/видео.htmlsi=pcqiscpupRixwo_7
Good advice Luke. I've completed my English Arceus set and now working on Team Up cards. God bless you and the family brother!

Sure thing! 🙌🏽
Very well articulated advice. I feel like 1 mistake kinda rolls into the other sometimes not even realizing that it’s has happened.
Thanks. Yes, many of them do tie together.

Yeah, true. Definitely takes discipline.
Great tips luke:) I’m not a beginner but I think this is very good information for the waves of people coming back into this hobby
Thanks Tom!
Great video man we need more of these for the new and old collectors.
Thanks Miguel!

Thanks for these tips! I wish more people who open up many booster packs on RUclips would do this.
Glad you found them helpful!

You live and you learn!
Sealed and singles is the way to go

Nothing wrong with that!

Thanks for sharing! Yep, it’s an important thing to be aware of that doesn’t get talk about enough.
