    There’s a very deep desire and huge satisfaction for all comedians to bring a person or audience to complete laughter after a joke . Not just laughter but deep laughter .
    It’s a sweet spot and when it hits , the comedians need to keep it there , keep it going for as long as possible , is the most satisfying “zone” for a comedian to be in … that zone is usually fragile , hard to keep going and going .
    The satisfaction of Sona keeping Conan in this zone for such long periods of time would be absolute bliss for Conan. You can see his just wanting to hang on and stay in this zone and everything just hits with Sona and Conan goes again and again .
    Seinfeld talks about this zone , but you really see it here with Conan and Sona .

    It's not so much the loss of peripheral vision, but the exposing of the _old butterfly having a stroke and carried into the face of opponent_ isn't actually a rarefied martial arts move. They've heard of it all this time, in whispers, and thought for sure it was a deadly move that cannot be guarded against. But no, it was just self-deprecation.

    As a chef, most of the stuff I make I like, but I also make stuff I don’t like all the time. For example, I’m not a fan of but I’m great at shucking them, I know what good ones look, taste and smell like and I also enjoy the easy money they make us. I can eat one and instantly determine whether it’s fresh and high quality before recoiling from the awful flavor.
    Also, as Conan’s going on, lots of chefs or restaurant owners don’t really like food much. It’s a good way to be your own boss and a lot of chefs I knew loved the lifestyle of hard partying and loads of drugs.

    I was sort of randomly recently wound up formulating like a short list in my head of the figures in entertainment who, if something came out eventually showing they were yet another major player who'd been covering up really shitty, long time toxic behavior behind the scenes, would be the names who would TRULY just crush me and break my brain. As a gen x kid, Conan and Eddie Vedder were right near the top of that list. I mean I know we always need to keep ourselves in check to never put people who we don't even know personally on too much of a pedestal just because we like their art, and even the best of us are light years from perfect, but still. Part of what I love and admire so much about these few people is how self aware and open they are about their flaws, especially their self doubt. I'm to the point where I don't really even trust an artist that DOESN'T deal with some manner of imposter syndrome. But like, I find it extremely hard to imagine if there was something even close to like that about Conan it wouldn't have surfaced by now.
    though right after I posted that, I realize it would actually be kinda hilarious of it turned out that Sona somehow has had WAY more control over everything for years than we ever knew, and she's legitimately an absolute tyrant with conan. It's all been an incredibly elaborate con lol

    • @yvjohns
      @yvjohns Год назад

      That is a fascinating comment, I would love to hear what other names you had on that list! As for Conan and Sona: Their interaction seems so absolutely genuine that I would consider anything truly toxic in their past downright impossible, but what about the following scenario: Conan went through a difficult time in his marriage, always had a little crush on Sona and then something (whatever it may have been) happened which they decided to never ever talk about? Not that I think that something of that kind actually happened, but I would not consider it downright impossible...

    • @kevinw712
      @kevinw712 Год назад

      @@yvjohns it actually kicked off with just Eddie Vedder. I was out taking a walk a couple weeks ago listening to Pearl Jam when I started to consider how much he's meant to my adulthood (TEN came out right as I started my HS sophomore year) and how hard some terrible revelation would be to hear at this point. and besides Conan, other names I'd say the likes of Henry Winkler or Mark Hamill.
      and well, of course I'd say probably Tom Hanks would be a really weird one to discover for most anybody. I even made a joke a few years ago that Hanks should start sleeping with one eye open anymore because Bill Hader was clearly coming to kill him and take over his long held mantel of "guy who's work you love and yes actually DOES seem to be impossibly nice and wholesome" in the business lol And while I've never been an especially big or regular SNL viewer, I do feel sort of a special affinity for Hader, because we're the same age and as I learned way after the fact, it seems we were working in many of the same production assistant circles at the same time in LA for awhile. We even both worked with Schwarzenneger on different things, though Hader did so in a closer and bit longer capacity (mine was just a few days commercial shoot). But I'm fairly certain we never worked on the same crew. While of course I don't objectively remember every other PA I ever worked with, I have a good enough memory with faces that I'm confident I would've recognized him when he got famous.
      and yeah I agree the Sona scenario that you posit is certainly possible, but I'd never bother to bet on the chance.
