There’s a very deep desire and huge satisfaction for all comedians to bring a person or audience to complete laughter after a joke . Not just laughter but deep laughter . It’s a sweet spot and when it hits , the comedians need to keep it there , keep it going for as long as possible , is the most satisfying “zone” for a comedian to be in … that zone is usually fragile , hard to keep going and going . Seinfeld talks about this zone , but you really see it here with Conan and Sona .
As long as Sona keeps laughing, Conan will keep the bit going, lol. He knew it had gone on long enough but she was still laughing so he just couldn’t quit. 🤣
Just when you think he has used up every ounce of the bit, he keeps it going... "Reading US magazine, oh, they broke up? They seemed like such a nice couple." He is the master of improv. I've heard this three times now and I still bust a gut laughing.
This is Precisely why Conan was so AWESOME at late night TV, ....because his wit is so quick, razor sharp and funny AF! He can just go on & on & on being hilarious, and his humor runs the gamut from very intelligent to very silly.
I think the Uber driver who came up to Sona's apartment to "check out the sofa [she's] trying to get rid of" may have been looking for more than a sofa.
I think it's important for every level of celebrity to have moments of not being recognized throughout their careers to keep them grounded and remind them that they truly are regular people to other regular people.
I've recognized a famous guy at a bar once, a main actor in the CSI series. Threw back some shots with him, the entire time pretending to not know who he was. I feel like not everybody needs to act like a fanboy/fangirl. Just enjoy life lol
I met a local celebrity once in a bar, and I'd recently seen him on a TV interview, in which he said that he didn't like when people acted like they didn't recognize him, so I was like: "Hey everybody, look who we have here! It's (celebrity's name)!!" I'm glad that he could take the joke, as I repeated it another three times over the following years - we happened to live in the same town. So yeah: careful what you wish for.
Jack Nicholson actually is pretty approachable, or was over the years. I seen video someone made in the eighties while filming witches of eastwick, where for several days in a town, he walked around talking to local people, if they came up to him, like he was just one of them. But like the golf club incident, if he does punch someone, they probably will consider it like an autograph.
★★★★"a very OLD WEAK butterfly punched me..." + "Ninjas cut a little hole so they can smoke e-cigarettes..." -- Conan was on fire with these tangents today. Had me laughing like Sona.
I think he takes Uber because he genuinely enjoys people. You can see it in his remotes. He enjoys meeting people. And a lot of Uber and Lyft drivers in So Cal are immigrants. I also enjoy hearing their stories and learning about new places to eat at locally that I wouldn't necessarily have found otherwise. My last driver was from Egypt and he was telling us that he really enjoyed So Cal but he really missed his family. He couldn't leave the country while his permanent residency ("green card") was being processed.
Conan has said many times that he enjoyes interviewing celebs, but his favorite is just talking to a normal person, or a fan. He loves getting a glimpse of someone elses life, and that undying curiousity keeps it refreshing.

They've heard of it all this time, in whispers, and thought for sure it was a deadly move that cannot be guarded against. But no, it was just self-deprecation.
As a chef, most of the stuff I make I like, but I also make stuff I don’t like all the time. For example, I’m not a fan of but I’m great at shucking them, I know what good ones look, taste and smell like and I also enjoy the easy money they make us. I can eat one and instantly determine whether it’s fresh and high quality before recoiling from the awful flavor. Also, as Conan’s going on, lots of chefs or restaurant owners don’t really like food much. It’s a good way to be your own boss and a lot of chefs I knew loved the lifestyle of hard partying and loads of drugs.
I was sort of randomly recently wound up formulating like a short list in my head of the figures in entertainment who, if something came out eventually showing they were yet another major player who'd been covering up really shitty, long time toxic behavior behind the scenes, would be the names who would TRULY just crush me and break my brain. As a gen x kid, Conan and Eddie Vedder were right near the top of that list. I mean I know we always need to keep ourselves in check to never put people who we don't even know personally on too much of a pedestal just because we like their art, and even the best of us are light years from perfect, but still. Part of what I love and admire so much about these few people is how self aware and open they are about their flaws, especially their self doubt. Not that I think that something of that kind actually happened, but I would not consider it downright impossible...

I even made a joke a few years ago that Hanks should start sleeping with one eye open anymore because Bill Hader was clearly coming to kill him and take over his long held mantel of "guy who's work you love and yes actually DOES seem to be impossibly nice and wholesome" in the business lol And while I've never been an especially big or regular SNL viewer, I do feel sort of a special affinity for Hader, because we're the same age and as I learned way after the fact, it seems we were working in many of the same production assistant circles at the same time in LA for awhile. I love when Conan keep going when Sona laugh
People in cars getting coffee works. No cameras needed, but if Conan had a Conan's uber conversations podcast where he (the star, just interviews drivers). Asking them ahead of time if it's okay to record and then at the end if it's okay to use it. (release signed etc.)
3:45 These are the only ads I watch at least once. Extra content
8:18 Is anyone able to make out the words on the page Matt is holding lol
Sona's laugh is so infectious😂
Just here for Sona's laughter.
The auto-generated captions call her Sonam Obsessian 😂
I'm with Matt on the "small talk Uber ride." 😆I just want to listen to my music and take a nap after working a 12 hr shift
I feel like ninjas would have a certain professional pride that precludes walking right up to a target in the open. "Come on Hotaru, at that point you're just a mugger!"
