Wow what a beautiful journey you took us on. I’m so impressed with the the way you used Dinas paints of today to make your embellishments look old. Incredible! The way you cut out and flipped the post cards... to ripping and stamping you did a marvelous job. I wish I had your stash! I love the sentimentality of it all. Thank you for inspiring us. Xx 😚
More mail art postcards, please! These are a great homage to Nick Bantock’s books. Love your faux postage stamps, all the layering, color choices, and brave use of original vintage materials. Did you ever consider photocopying/scanning the originals and cutting up the duplicates?
I cannot tell you at some point in my life how important Nick Bantock and Griffin & Sabine & his book The Artful Dodger were to me. I had all the cards & all the stamps & all the books. My husband was killed in 9/11 in NYC & I relocated to Alabama to escape the busy-ness of the city. I am so incredibly glad I found these videos of yours. ❤️🌺❤️
Niamh Baly i meant to also say & forgot because I was so moved by your videos that I lost all my Nick Bantock inks, stamps, & books that my husband had gifted me throughout our marriage. We were only married 15 years & he was 48 when he was killed. I am so inspired to learn enough about collage from you & your videos to be able to do an “inspired by Niamh & Nick Bantock” tribute to Lee page or pages. I feel so connected now that I saw your videos. Thank you very much for sharing your wonderful process & results.
Hi ya. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this come together. I have never heard of bantok, but i am going to google him & check out his stuff. What a beautyfull book you made , im very inspired by you. Thank you for shareing your lovely world of art work with us all. Hope all is well🌻😁
OG my! What a stunning project. Just lovely. Thanks for posting the letters. You have encouraged me to use some to the lovely things I have been hoarding. Thanks for all your inspiration.
Hi Niamh, I recently came across the work of Nick Bantock through the videos of Robyn McClendon who is doing a number of mail art projects on Patreon and when searching for him I stumbled across your 3 videos. It's good to have other takes on the mail art. I really like what you are doing here and have learned lots from watching your videos. I have subscribed so I can follow what you are doing now. Thanks for sharing. xoxo
Hello again Niamh, THANK YOU so much for replying to my comment, It means a lot that you found time to do this. I have just watched the second and last in your series of three Postage inspired by Nick Bantock art, themed videos and love, love love them all sooooo much. THANK YOU too for introducing me to Nick's amazing work, I have just ordered two of his books from french amazon so will be looking forward to them arriving later this week. I am hoping to make some time today, or later in the week to have a go at making some faux postage stamps too. I love creating Mail Art envelopes and have in the past joined in with a few swaps which were such fun to do. I still have a number of envelopes that can be used for swaps so will look into seeing if there are any Mail Art swaps going on, if not I may just mail them to myself so that they have real cancellation postage marks on them then I can use them in my art. LOL Warmest best wishes from France, Su
Thank you so much. This project was a labour of love and has such a special place in my heart. Such amazing books and I am so happy I could recreate them in my own way :)
I loved this 3 part series and adored your finished artwork. I've spent so much time online in the past 18 months...how did I miss this gem? Your videos are always entertaining, but this took it to the next level. Now, I'm googling Nick Bantock with 18% charge left...
Too Cool!!! I love how you put it all together. I stumbled on your channel while looking at another video. Boy I'm so glad that I decided to watch. That was the making faux stamp video, which I believe is the second video of this series. So much information and a heep of INSPIRATION. I really enjoyed this series. Your tutorials are awesome! I've ENJOYED spending my Saturday morning with you........ Stay Blessed!
Wow - don't even know where to start! I've had Griffin and Sabine for a really long time and have always been drawn to this kind of collage work. You've done this at such the right time for me - I too have lots of "precious" ephemera that needs to come out and have a home and now you've inspired me to make it happen! Such lovely ideas - wonderful execution - thank you SO MUCH for sharing this process! Ideas are spinning in my head.....
Yay- I'm so glad!!! Yes using that ephemera is so hard - but now I have actually used some of it - I'm much more prepared to use more. Please, if you do create something -I would love to see it. Enjoy x
It's just a start - but here is the back of a postcard I prepared for my travel journal - it flips back to the front which is the 24 hour clock from Greenwich - but you inspired me to take time to play with my tip ins and not just throw down photos!!! Hm - can't seem to place a photo here -
Niamh you are really really talented and clever. I really really love 💖 this series and what you’ve put together here is so utterly stunning. Thank you so much xxx Mags
This series was jam-packed with so much information and inspiration! Loved learning about Nick Bantock's work, I will definitely look at his other projects and books. Your artwork of the woman you received is stunning! xo Beth
Thank you so much for your kind words - I'm glad these videos are useful for you. Marg was super talented, yet she was so down on herself about her skills. I am so happy to have a part of her in my journals to look back on too. Please do look into Nick's work - it is such a visual feast!
I have all the Griffin and Sabine books they are so beautiful! Your journal is amazing!! I am going to try to make some of the faux stamps. You mentioned letter writing as a lost art. I agree 100% although recently I signed up with letter writers alliance or LWA.com. It’s a legit pen pal site and so far I have accumulated 8 pen pals since January! It’s been so much fun getting to know new friends and writing and receiving letters in the post.

Wow, this is absolutely gorgeous. The thought, time, and creativity you put into this is amazing.💕💕💕💕
Wonderful series. You have a talent for layering that I admire. May I ask what set of Postage Marks rubber stamps you were using?
It is a set from an Australian company which has now ceased. But 100 proof press and stampers anonymous both stock postal art stamp sets
Where did you get the book you are using?
Which one- the journal I’m working in? It’s a ranger ink art journal by Dina wakley
🙂
