Baylan Skoll (the Dark Master Jedi) was Ray Stevenson's final role in his career as he died on May 21, 2023, thus, the series is dedicated to his memory.
The explanation for the ancient Star map is, it's a Galactic hyperspace migration map for Purgill, hinted by the Purgill drawings on the holo map. Elzbeth knew that since Thrawn was dragged away by Purgill they were likely taken to where they normally migrate to in distant space
Nice to see Clancy returning as the live action version of his Rebels character and as for the star map, the Purrgils could be like birds and have routes which they take and someone mapped that route hundreds or thousands of years ago, then again we may get a better explanation later.
In regards to Sabine’s light saber fight, Sabine is kind of a novice, so I was thinking that the blonde Dark Jedi was toying with her instead of just ending it too quickly. Who knows lol
Sabin’s perfectly cast. Hera doesn’t really look like Hera to me. Too tall, chin too broad, eyes too small… but she’s okay. I think it’s obvious who that masked inquisitor is. The med droid present told me she had been in a bacta tank and was resting now, which was fine. I agree it felt too slow, but I enjoyed it anyway.
I didn't have a problem with the pacing for the first two episodes. They were meant for more drama during tension-building moments. Keeping everything rushing at Ludicrous Speed strikes me as impatient storytelling, which is not to my taste. Honestly, that was one of my beefs with The Last Jedi and especially The Rise of Skywalker. I saw no issue with the crawl. I wouldn't be surprised if Lucasfilm decided to reserve the classic style strictly for the movies, since having it in a series would kind of detract from the significance.
This is Filoni's 1st live action show. My guess is he wants a more contemplative story. The characters Ashoka and Sabine are in a very transformational emotional place at this point in the show. I get the sense Sabine feels lost. Ashoka is questioning her place in the Republic and the Force. I didn't notice the slow pace till you pointed it out. I really like them both. I suspect the issue of Sabine's lack of Force sensitivity will be a major obstacle in episodes to come. I enjoyed it, obviously.
Ironic that you mention the voice pacing. I found that quite realistic. I've watched many LIVE shows on TV and when a speaker is not in the studio, but using ZOOM, there is a few seconds delay between replies.
Really enjoyed Ahsoka.. looking forward to seeing how everything plays out.. I completely understand your critiques.. but agree with it being some good Star Wars.. being a Rebels fan I too was happy seeing everyone in live action.. thanks for the review..
I got the impression that the only stage direction the director gave Rosario Dawson was: "pace around slowly while looking down and don't make any facial expressions except a mildly condescending smirk"
The Purgils(space Whales) who live in hyperspace typically make the trip to and from another galaxy. Watch the last episode of season 4 of Rebels. It will make so much more sense.
Para mí concepto, ha sido un buen comienzo para la serie. Mucha acción, buen trabajo de los personajes, excelente fotografía, escenarios. Me ha hecho olvidar el mal sabor que me dejó calarme toda la primera temporada de Andor. 👍🏼🤖
I enjoyed it, I understand the criticism that is being levelled at it by others though. It definitely feels like a new season of Rebels, and I'm fine with that!
Oh my God, fans are so excited about this live action characters, that they miss the fact that it was so ridiculous slow! When I watched the show I couldn't believe the time that's spends between dialogue lines! It was so frustrated. The speeder sequence! Damn! All the scenes seem a zoom meeting withe a hell of delay!
When I setup Sci-Finatics my intention was always to cover both Star Trek and Star Wars but the RUclips algorithm hates me venturing outside my perceived lane.
I'm tired of the go-go-go of modern things. I didn't notice the "pacing". Let the scene breath. Sabine hadn't practiced. She was being toyed with. Showed her weakness. A protagonist arc. I'm juet a Trekkie. I've seen Clone Wars, but not much of Rebels. I'm watching Ahsoka on my own terms.
I guess this is to create a balance with films with a ban on those with high Estrogeniklorians. But the main characters are on a quest to find a protagonist and an antagonist with high Testosteroniklorians in them, so don't give up hope.
And it takes more twists to solve a Rubik's cube than it took to solve that thing, but Hera says, "you and I both know Sabine gives you your best chance of reading that map." And why is that? No one else is willing to twist it a bunch of times and look for some patterns? It really didn't seem like something you would need to call in a cryptographer for.

Ashoka opening Tomb robbing should have been like Aladdin escaping from the genies’ cave
Dont forget Clancy Brown voiced that same governor in Rebels

I thought it may have been slow cause it's a fight between 2 apprentices. My 2 cents.
@@BradyHoldI bet Dave Filoni will soon reveal all!
I think they were going for that "arty western" feel with the slower pace and spare dialogue, but I agree it did feel a bit TOO slow at times.
Glad you're covering this show. Keep up the good work.
Glad you enjoy it!
Like you, life-long ST and SW fan and love them both. Great to hear your thoughts on Ahsoka!
Thank you kindly!

My thoughts exactly about the opening crawl. It pays tribute to the original but with a shorter introduction.

Watching Rebels will fill in a lot of the blanks.
It felt like... "teeeeell meee, wheeeere iiiis Thraaaaawn, fooooor I soooo waaant toooooo fiiiiiiind hiiiiim", in the slowest Celeborn-like deliver ever.
Eye of Sion is likely a reference to Darth Sion from Knights of the Old Republic II
This post needs a highlight. You sir, are the FIRST PERSON ONLINE that I have seen or heard reference Darth Sion. Wow!!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Ironic that you mention the voice pacing. I found that quite realistic. I've watched many LIVE shows on TV and when a speaker is not in the studio, but using ZOOM, there is a few seconds delay between replies.
Shin was playing with Sabine, toying with her.
Voyager Caretaker pilot ep had a vertical scroll intro too.
Lightsabers are clearly usless as stabbing weapons at this point lol
The captain of the prison transport was killed, wasn't he? Didn't Baylon use the same stabbing move?
It's almost like in real life where stab and gunshot wounds are more or less deadly depending on the internal organs that are damaged. 🤷

So! Nick is doing something different while waiting for Lower Decks! Well-played, sir! 😆

Clancy brown was playing the same character in Rebels that he plays in the first episode.

Diana Lee Innosanto (Morgan Elsbeth) is the daughter of Danny Innsanto. Martial arts master and trainee and sparring partner of Bruce Lee. Fun Fact!
thank you for giving the same critism like star trek
Why does Thrawn look EXACTLY a blue Data from Star Trek: TNG? I'm talking about the one still shot that is always used in the promos.
I enjoy hearing your opinions on the show!
They spent these first two episodes catching up everyone who didn’t watch Rebels.
Spot on, and I certainly agree with your review. They seemed very predictable and slow paced, very slow. 😬
I enjoyed it, I understand the criticism that is being levelled at it by others though. It definitely feels like a new season of Rebels, and I'm fine with that!
First time I've seen you review SW tbh.
Haven't managed to get sucked into Ashoka unlike Mando. With the first few eps. Which imo is a much better production.

Master Dave, the writer of the show, said that season 4 of Rebels is required pre viewing at minimum to truly enjoy this show. Just an fyi.
Don't be afraid of change. New is sometimes good like this show...... :)
Holy shit! You must really need to views since you are now finally doing a Star Wars series!
When I setup Sci-Finatics my intention was always to cover both Star Trek and Star Wars but the RUclips algorithm hates me venturing outside my perceived lane.
My thoughts exactly, too much pausing between dialog.
Ilkie the show and at least it gives you something new to look at.
Wibble!!!!!!! XD

When you go on and on about how you think the dialog should be tightened up you kinda defeat your own point. =)
You're way too kind
BraWars, no thanks.
So there was a ban on anyone who rated high with Testosteroniklorians in this film.

Thank you I won''t give up. May the farce be with you.@@ashaw316
Another map Macguffin. Who the hell keeps putting secret shit on maps and hiding the maps? Just don't put it on the map. This is how you hide things.
