I love JAM. I think Nicholas Parson's contribution makes it a five panel game really. However Giles, why do so many not like him? He is such a funny and witty person.
Peter Jones was so wonderful, and the other contestants always gave him a great deal of latitude with his ums and ahs. Quite rightly - his stories were sometimes legendary. In his other work - The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Universe was greatly enhanced by his reading of the Guide.
RIP, Nicholas. Nicholas Parsons is one of the very few BBC Personalities that have held my affection and respect. A true legend. His humour and place in history encapsulated in a take off by the late great Benny Hill, in his hilarious Sale of the Half Century sketch which featured the delectable Melonie and Hill's Northern Irish foil, John 'Jackie'Wright. It's not the man himself, of course, but speaks volumes about him! Nicholas Parsons will be genuinely missed.
When I listen to radio versions I can never tell the difference between Gyles Brandreth and Derek Nimmo. I love old JAM, with Derek, Peter, Clement and Kenneth. Those were classics :D
I use to love to listen to this on the World Service in the early 1970's on Friday Night /Saturday Morning/ It use to come on about 2330 GMT. Is this the same Peter Jones that was on "The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy"?
Yes indeed! I remember shuddering at the notion of Nicholas Parsons as a Vicar in the Curse of Fenric - it would be a disastrous comedy turn for sure! But he gave a fine performance as a man of God who had lost his faith and I take my hat off to him for enhancing one of the most powerful of the McCoy stories. He will be missed.
I love JAM. Have recently discovered it as an Englishman having moved to the USA searching for British based based gentle humor. And yes, Nicholas makes it a 5 person panel game. Love Gyles and can't understand why he is so disliked. Tony Hawks is spot on, and Peter Jones is just old fashioned wit and raconteur. Jo is a giggle. Please can someone tell me how many episodes Nicholas has panelled, and Gyles has been a guest since his debut in 1982. Still looking for JAM friends to chat with as the FB page has had no entries since 2017. No repetition.
That's just her style of comedy, Jo has always been very dour, dry and sardonic, closest male equivalent is probably Jack Dee. I disagree most emphatically that it's not pleasant for a fun panel show, she's great in this, but if you don't like it I suggest you steer clear of any episodes featuring Clement Freud.
And as the Minute Waltz fades away, so has a true gentleman and gentle man.
Goodbye Nick. X
What a beautiful comment and so true. Thank you.

Same with Peter Jones, who died less than a year after this episode was broadcast.
What a pleasure to listen to people using a rich vocabulary without the present use of 'like' interspersed with monotonous regularity!

Very sad about how Derek Nimmo died. If you want to hear the old jam with these check out the 24/7 Internet stream it's brilliant

Yes.
Who would have thought that such a comedy man would pulled off such a performance on Doctor Who 1989? RIP Nicholas

Oh Gyles. Still peddling the old "nod as good as a wink to a blind horse".
Love Giles Brandreth
Oh, how great to see Peter Jones in action. :)
Yeh .... the voice of the Book and the narrator in HHGTTG ... brilliant!
That's a great version of the minute waltz

4:50
It would be marvellous to have the radio show with Clement Freud anf Frank Muir.
entertaining thank you
Delightful.
I wish that Kenneth Williams was still alive , he was great at this game..I am also a fan of the " traditional" like Kenny ..:-)
Wow! Jo and Giles young. 😂 I only know them older on QI.
The original and best Just a minute
Brandreth = Harris , Jackson ! ???
Jaqen H'Gar Gyles doesn't tend to do those routines in more recent episodes.
Rolf Harris one of Giles favourite people, DEVIATION
RIP Kenneth Williams
Proper culture clash, Jo and Gyles! All good fun though.
3:50 Peter Jones face! Giles stole that lol
Gyles Brandeth is rather annoying but I think I can excuse him for that because he is exceedingly funny when he rambles on
RIP
That's just razy lacism.
Brandreth can be hilarious on the show but he has a series of stock jokes and phrases he repeats ad nauseam
jo seems to hate the remarkable eloquence gyles
The skateboard guy's name is spelt wrong in the credits.
It is spelled wrong, but he's not the skateboarder. That's Tony Hawk, this is Tony Hawks.
Wrong guy, Tony Hawk is an American skateboarder, Tony HAWKS is a British comedian, they aren't the same person (he has often addressed this)
@@TheTradge I KNOW!!! (Actually Tony decided to take up skateboarding 🛹 a few years back because of the whole Hawk’s/Hawks thing, so I’m not wrong. 😉)
wth is wrong with joe's hair?
This was a very fashionable PUNK style in those days!
Robert Smiths let himself go
Heheh
Excrutiating
irony of peter jones talking about dragons DRAGONS DEN!
Jo Brand seems to have a chip on her shoulder. Not pleasant at all for a "fun" panel game.

Brandreth is deeply irritating.
Brandreth ruineth everything.
Hahaha funny but a bit harsh
