I like to think I wasn’t the only grown man with tears in his eyes from 6-630 pm tonight. Gonna miss the big guy. Enjoy your retirement mike ... thanks for years of entertainment
michael maier im 34 year old male and when he said from the bottom of my heart i love you goodbye i lost it..such a powerful moment.you def arent alone.
Best of luck to Mike and his family. It’s always hard to say goodbye to someone who’s been in your life for more than 10 years, but at some point in time we have to go our separate ways. Thank you Mike for your sports knowledge and the comedic gold you brought in my life. Remember people “Andy Pettitte is a starting pitcha”
Sad to see Mike go, but he deserves to enjoy retirement and be with his family. A lot of great moments over the years, been listening to him since I was a kid in the 90's. Look forward to seeing what he has planned down the road!
Been listening to Mike and Dog since 93. Listen to whole shows after school. Remember Mike's divorce, Dog getting engaged, the birth of their kids. It's like losing a friend though we never talked. I changed the radio dials in my car and on my radio today right after the show. First time in over 20 years. Feels strange. One thing about time, it waits for no one and ends everything. Sad day.
20 years of my life. Dude I don't know what you're going to upload from here outside of Joe and Evan but thanks for uploading so quickly every time man.
How many here felt like a loss by death happened after Mike said "Goodbye" then silence for some seconds before the commercial aired? To me it's like a piece of my life was cut away - a sad day!
N T your telling me...i felt the same exact way.poof like that hes gone.super sad day.when he said i love you at the end i cried for the first time in a long time
At minute 1130 or so, you cherish and thank the audience, no Mike... Thank you! I've listened to you for 20+ years.. you and dog set the trend. Thank you for all of your work and dedication! You'll be missed!
Big shout out to this uploader don't get to listen to mike much live anymore and thanks to you I've been able to a lot especially towards the end and it's been great so thanks
wow, that actually moved me. Didn't expect that at all. Thanks for the memories Mike and bigger thanks for Sport Radio for delivering all these worthwhile clips of Francesa Audio.
30 years of my commuting life gone. Got me through sick days , snow in's , being stuck on the GSP for hours probably months when added up. Lol . Some sports I didn't really like or understand until Mike and Dog talked about them and explained them. Will miss their bantering and ups and downs. Their contributions to charities either participating in them or advertising them. Mike and Dog and the Super Bowl GIANTS. The best God Speed MIKE
I live in upstate NY and will always remember my father driving me and my brother to the city to visit family and WFAN would always be on the radio as we did not get the feed upstate. Mike and The Mad Dog will always be a part of my memory from my childhood. Thanks you Mike for all of your amazing rants! My fiancee is not a big sports radio fan but when she heard you sign off for the last time she said "AW!" I got emotional as well. I know I am not alone when I say I LOVE YOU MIKE. Thanks for the memories and wherever you may go I will most definitely follow.
One of the best that’s ever done it on radio...gonna miss his takes on Knicks and NFL....Thanx Mike for the years of entertainment...good luck and farewell
Going to miss Mike. Grew up listening to him with my father. He is going to be really missed and can't wait to see what his next plans are. Also many thanks to the uploader for providing all these excellent clips.
God bless Mike. I still remember the first time I heard you and the dog in 1996 World Series, Yankees vs Kenny Rogers when I was in 6th grade. Thank you for everything
I agree with the comments below! I've been listening/watching since I was 10, I was so sad when Dog left, but I knew mike was still around! Now just joe and Evan! So sad today!!!
salespo612 maybe its the age difference but I found him somewhat boring and rude, I loved it back then when it was mike and the mad dog, after YES stopped simulcasting his show in preference to the Michael Kay show haven’t heard him since.
@sports radio.....thank you so much.............with Mike gone from the radio...at least we have you-tube.....to rehash him......and regarding the future radio of WFAN....Well thank God, the FAN keeps the real talents......Joe B., Steve Somers.....god the FAN will rue the day.....bro. WFAN RIP... Bye Big Mike
When he said the callers he challenged but the listeners he cherished, that really got me, because he's talking to me. thank you Mike. thank you for the Memories
@Sports Radio... Thank you so much for posting this! LOL, I just got done listening to him live, and was waiting for you to post this. I can’t believe he’s done, I been listing to him for over 20 years. Now, a 3 person crew is going to try and fill his spot? Nothing at all against them, but it just won’t be the same.
Listened to it with my headphones on while painting a kitchen in California...at the end i teared up big time.wow its strange its finally over.A lot of folks around the country shed a tear around the same time
I love how he says "I'm not gonna mention them because I don't want to leave anybody out' at 0:43 and immediately proceeds to mention some. That's Mike!
It's been real Mike, I'm 32 and the irony is I first found about this show while watching yes network during my summer break from Highschool in 2002 not the radio.
I remember back in 2005 watching YES seeing him and maddog and I️ would get so mad the Yankees weren’t on..hates them. I was only 8, but as soon as I️ got my car and began listening to mike on the radio, wow. He got me to really enjoy READING and of course watching about sports. Mike really did do his job well. Yeah he had mess ups but he did his job. I️ love listening to the michael kay show. I️ think they’re the future of sports radio. But Francesa was really was the iron horse. Great job! Thank you.
Farewell to you Mike- my drive home companion for 20 years. But maybe its a good thing, because so many times I get home around 6pm, and I can't get out of my car, because I don't want to turn off the radio in the middle of one of Mike's great interviews. There's no replacing him. He was a rock star.
Not a New Yorker so can't imagine how you guys connected to him but always enjoyed his show when I did listen every once and awhile especially when there was a big story in sports. You always had to check in when something big happened with the New York sports teams too. I know when he said that goodbye at the end it was like the wind was taken out of me. Felt like a big moment and it was. I doubt there will be another like him with where radio is sadly heading. Hopefully he does a couple charity shows for you locals but other than that I do hope this is the last goodbye because I couldn't imagine listening to his show without the WFAN intro.
You addressed this in your comments, Mike, but I'll really miss your take on the big events, stories, etc. With uncanny consistency, you captured the essence of whatever was going on. Get some rest and take it easy. Best to you.
Late 30's from the land of no sports teams ( tri-state) I have been a Patriots fan since 87' Devils since 88' and Mike and the dog since day one. It doesn't get any luckier. Sir, just like it was impossible to say goodbye to Marty Goat ( past) and Tommy Goat (future) the present is difficult....rest up and get back out there, we'll be waiting!!!
I must say.. I started listening in 1992, by mistake. I couldn't locate any good FM music and landed on 660AM. Been hooked every since. I preferred both M&M, but... I am an a causal sport fan and for me to listen to sports radio for 2 plus hours daily says alot about the host. On a scale on 1-10, I give Mike an 8. Where as others I give 3-5. There were times I wanted to call and debate Mike on a few race, politics in sports, but over time I realized that people from different cultures, backgrounds aren't gonna agree on 60% of the above. I was able to listen to the new hosts, and so far I give them a 4/5.. so I won't be listening to sports radio now unless there is major event, and maybe playoffs. However, I already know I won't be able to listen for more than 15 minutes. Mike has the ability to pull in the casual fan. His knowledge and ability to engage the audience and hold us for a few hours or more is second to none. There won't be another for 20 years.
Mike's acerbic wit has always been overshadowed by his edginess and, at times, impatience. But one particular evening when he and Dog were on, some guy called up with his All-Time Disaster Baseball Team, each position player dying prematurely, tragically; etc. Gehrig at 1st, Ken Hobbs 2nd, Munson, Clemente and so on. Mike, after going along with it, says, "And hey, do us a favor huh? Get a life. Find something else to do with your time". I was parked at the supermarket at the time about to go shopping and I am in my car cracking up uncontrollably, people must have thought i was nuts. That comment just struck me so hard. Thank you Mike. Your legacy is intact in so many ways. You've been the soundtrack of NY and you'll be genuinely missed.
I liked Mike, buona fortuna to his family and himself. The guy leaves a better man then when he first walked into the "Mike Francesa Studios" I wish that of all men, but Mike acutally was able to achieve it in 30 years on the FAN. He will be missed !
Besides him being gone now, im really disappointed there isnt any recordings of his early days. Would have loved to hear what he was like at the very beginning versus now. I was even searching for Boomer and Cartons first show and couldnt find it anywhere.
Can't believe he's off. When he first announced he was going off, it seemed like it was so far in the future. Not sure what I'm gonna listen to during the ride home now.
I’ve listened since day one. Some people loved Mike (I’m in that camp) and some hated him. Thing is his haters still listened. They thought he was a jerk to some callers but most of those he was rude to earned that as he didn’t suffer fools. I called many times and he was never rude.
A lot can be said about Mike. Good and bad. But damn, radio just is not going to be the same. His show was a nice getaway from the politics radio I listened to. Seeing whats out there now, we arent going to have someone like Mike any time soon.
Agreed. Being fair Mike could be hard on his callers and sometimes could be very mean. With that said, I am also sad as I been listening Mike and before that Mike and the Mad Dog off/on since I was in high school in 1989. A legend in modern sports radio just like Carson was to Late Night TV talk shows and Oprah was for a woman's Focused Daytime talk. The Best part of Mike I remember was his unmatched knowledge on discussing to the audience, the business side of Sports. In particular, TV Ratings which as a then teen when the show started I knew nothing about. Now I know when fans of local time tv shows feel sad that a long time friend you never met is off the air. All the best to Mike. PS Thanks Sportsradio for uploading these clips over the last couple of years. Was helpful when I was at work and could not listen to the good interview and caller segments.
Thank you guys for all the support. It is a sad day.
Sports Radio I really appreciate all these uploads. Please keep them up. I look forward to playing them here and there in the years to come.
Thank you very much. Part of teens, twenties, thirties and forties died. That's how long he been on.
Thanks for all your work in bringing this to us. Big up !

Best of luck to Mike and his family. It’s always hard to say goodbye to someone who’s been in your life for more than 10 years, but at some point in time we have to go our separate ways. Will miss Mike. And again, thanks to the uploader. Great job.
The greatest of all time. I'm 30 but I prefer his style/show over these new school shock jock types fluff types.

Thanks Mike for 30 years of great radio. I miss you already ... At least Joe and Evan get an extra hour.
flea sweep Joe and Evan are hardly a consolation. Miss u mike
William j ... yes, but they are part of what we have left before the WFAN becomes ESPN radio.
flea sweep good point. At least it’s still a familiar sound before the fan is forced to sell out.
The man who was never a Twitter fan is #1 trending in the world all night. Thanks Mike
Right when I'm becoming a big Mike Francesa fan he retires :(
wow, that actually moved me. Didn't expect that at all. Thanks for the memories Mike and bigger thanks for Sport Radio for delivering all these worthwhile clips of Francesa Audio.

Thank you Mike for being a part of our lives for THIRTY YEARS!
I like to think every time Mike says "we", in his final segment, he's talking about Mike & the Maddog. If so, it shows a lot of class.

Agree,
I’m 16 and I was crying when listening to him say those last words. Truly a GOAT.

He will be truly missed. Very sad day in Sports Radio
Why did he leave WFAN? I use to listen to him when I lived in DC and he had me rolling in the afternoons! He will be missed!
Mike and the Mad Dog built the foundation for sports radio
No one is indispensable, but, damn, Mike is CLOSE!
Can’t believe this!? Thank God we can replay RUclips videos .

my life just flashed b4 my eyes
Besides him being gone now, im really disappointed there isnt any recordings of his early days. Would have loved to hear what he was like at the very beginning versus now. I was even searching for Boomer and Cartons first show and couldnt find it anywhere.
Madden, early recordings are hard to find due to internet not being around in 1989. I agree, would be great to hear the early days of him and the Dog
Gonna miss Mike. He's the best.
I havent listened to WFAN since the last show. I'm sure Im not alone :(
NY Legend
