- Piano carré Erard fréres, Paris 1803
(Lapp, facteur d'orgues et de pianos à Mâcon, 1812)
jeu de luth, forte, céleste, jalousie
I used to sell restored square pianos in my antiques shop...loved playing Mozart on them, the music really revealed its inner secrets. Earliest I sold was from 1750.
218 years old and looks fantastic!to hear the Sound is like a time machine.
This is so much more expressive than a modern piano! This instrument has colour!
thank you for the time travel.
At least we hear the music as Beethoven would have heard it in his say... I wonder what the middle movement of of his "Pathetique" Sonata would have sounded like on this since the themes are similar at the beginning... thank you... this is so beautiful!
🙂
A labor of love. Beautiful.
Formidable ! Bonheur d'écouter cet instrument, parce que j'ai le même mais non restauré....
Delightful performance and top marks also for the Restoration.
I want one!
Sehr interessantes Instrument mit wirkungsvollen Registern, vielen Dank für den Upload mit den vielen Bildern und der effektvollen Interpretation.
Magnifique restauration, et belle interprétation ! J'ai un tricorde Erard de la même année ...
Merci!
I like that piano.
The string of square piano was hit by Hammer Action to sound and to play.
Low sound in Square piano is like Clavichord +Harpsichord+ Modern Piano, and Middle sound is like forte piano in 18 Era ,High sould to hear is like Clavichord+Modern Piano.
Wonderful variety of effect!
Well hello there, Glenn! Makes you wish modern piano had such expressiveness available.
@@lemonemmi I can only dream of owning such an instrument someday! I'd happily settle for an unfretted Saxon clavichord as my main instrument. Alas, I have no rich relative to leave me that kind of inheritance ...
@@Rollinglenn We have very similar taste. I'm dreaming of such an instrument as well. Alas, the "cheap" ones are rare and they sell so fast. I hope the next week's lottery numbers appear in our dreams some day haha.
Excellent. I enjoyed this very much.
Thank you, your Books have been very helpful!
Formidable trabajo!
😅
Cool. Wonder what the four pedals do.
The restoration work is amazing... but it sounds to me as if one of the notes in the extreme treble is not working.
It is excellent that he makes this Erard square piano in 1803.
Early Square piano's Hammer hit brass and iron strong per one~two . It's likely as Brass string or iron string for playing Square piano.
(=TO PLAY SQUARE PIANO IS likely iron string or brass string.)
-This is a Great and excellent Square piano in the World.
Dieses Klavier is gut.
Wish I could find the score to this beautiful music!

@@jankappes Thank you but im looking for this particular Beethoven´s score. Imslp doesn't provide it at all...
Ok, I found ist in an old Edition Breitkopf&Härtel, Supplemente zur Gesamtausgabe IX (1965)
Jan, this is an exquisite instrument! Did you do the restoration?
Well done. How long did the restoration take you to complete and was it difficult to locate the materials?
Why is the video not of someone playing it?
Dear Sir, thank you for this video. But I'm very interested in the identity of the musician. Who is the performer ? Is it yourself ?
So much nicer than the modern piano!
- and much more bad about the sound.
What do all the pedals do?? It looks like there’s 4 instead of 3 on the modern piano.
Buff stop (jeu de luth), damper lift (forte), moderator (céleste )and lid swell (jalousie)
... yes, it’s myself “JK”
What do the four pedals do?
Buff stop (jeu de luth), damper lift (forte), moderator (céleste )and lid swell (jalousie)
Лучше бы ты показал как на нём играешь. Зачем 4 педали?
Very well played!, beautiful sound. Please check my cover of this piece on my 5 octave keyboard.
This song proves that Satie was just lazy
What d'yer mean?
@@jakubbaran28 right ? I dont see any conection with Satie
